After looters crashed through his floor-to-ceiling windows and stole $1 million worth of booze in May, Chicago-Lake Liquors owner John Wolf wanted to protect himself from a repeat occurrence. Like property owners throughout the world, he wanted to install security shutters on the outside of his building. The investment would not only prevent rioters from entering his store, it would protect his windows—which cost $50,000 to replace. But Wolf ran into a big obstacle: The city of Minneapolis has barred security shutters on building exteriors since 2004. Unlike St. Paul, which allows external shutters as long as owners request a permit,

Comments:

Headline proffered as is, missing some punctuation. Democrats always have the interests of The Little Guy at heart; they let Peaceful Protestors riot while leaving businesses that fund the city hanging in the breeze. Here, Moga Mbip Ska leaders say roll-down window barriers send the wrong message, preferring instead graffiti-festooned plywood on a business whose owner won an award for the work he did preserving the historic building years ago.

And who did these guys vote for over the last 16 years? Here they are still trying to work with the city. Jenkins seems to think this is all fun and games - only one business tried to get a variance and he was turned down. You can almost see her nasty little bureaucratic smile - the smile that says dream if you think you will ever get one and fool, we own you so pucker up. There is still time to turn this around but it won't hold forever.

I guess Minneapolis city leaders feel that looted, burnt out buildings from rioters are much more attractive than the perception caused by window shutters to protect from rioters, looting and fires. Wouldn't want anyone to think that all of those burnt out, looted business could have still been open if some common sense preventive measures were allowed to be in place.

All the businesses in Europe have had what the Italians called "pursianas" (sp?) since the 60s when I first lived overseas. What the heck is the big deal? After this proof that the feral beasts rule the cities, and the police are prevented from stopping them before, and the prosecutors won't punish them afterwards.....they need protection.

Why DO Blacks vote in droves for
Democrats in every election?

Here’s a shocking number: Democratic presidential candidates have received an average of nearly 90% of the Black vote for more than five decades. But why? Many Blacks live in big cities run by Democrats, and conditions there are pretty awful. What’s more, once Democrats get into the White House, they don’t deliver for the Black community. During the campaign, the candidates promise they’ll do a lot. Then when they win, they don’t. Every. Single. Time. And yet election after election, Blacks turn out in droves to support the Democratic candidate. It’s not like Republicans haven’t been trying to woo them.

The line stretched a quarter-mile before the sun was barely up Saturday, snaking around corners like bread lines in the 1930s. But the hungry in Queens are today’s New Yorkers, left jobless by the coronavirus. Until the pandemic struck the city, La Jornada food pantry used to hand out groceries to roughly 1,000 families a week. Now, the figure tops 10,000. And volunteers serve lunch every day to 1,000—many of them kids with growling stomachs.(Snip) Seniors, moms and kids, singles—many immigrants from China and Mexico—wait for hours. Democratic Gov.
