The ruling is a victory for the administration's plan to greatly expand the kinds of employers who can cite religious or moral objections in declining to include contraceptives in their health care plans. The Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, gives the government authority to create the religious and moral objections, said Justice Clarence Thomas for the court's 7-2 majority.

In a video and memo to the approximately 3000 employees he supervises, Conde announced a goal of 50% of employees being female, and 50% “people of color,” an expression commonly taken to mean non-Caucasians.
Since Caucasians account for more than 76% of the United States population according to the Census Bureau, this amounts to a vow of racial discrimination.

State-run schools have undercut two fundamental conditions of a healthy tolerant society. First, they’ve created millions of civic illiterates who are disconnected from long-held communal values and national identity. Second, they’ve exacerbated the very inequalities that trigger the tearing apart of fissures.
Long Island taxpayers will bear the burden of paying about $2.1 billion in severance benefits to police officers, teachers, and public employees who have high salaries, according to a recent analysis. Long Island’s two counties, Nassau and Suffolk, have long struggled with paying these severance benefits, even before the pandemic plunged multiple sources of revenue. A Newsday report tabulated that each county currently owes half a billion dollars in severance obligations. From 2008 to 2018, the two counties’ total employee benefit and police salary costs increased by about $670 million.
The NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks said on Tuesday they will not change their name or logo despite growing pressure on U.S. sports teams with Native American names and symbols to do so amid a push to eliminate racially insensitive material.
The team said in a statement to the Chicago Sun-Times that the name celebrated the life of Black Hawk of Illinois’ Sac & Fox Nation, and that it would work to further raise awareness about Native American culture. For months, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been desperate to find somebody, anybody, to blame for the nursing-home carnage he helped to cause. The list of those he blamed was blasphemous — it started with God. It was ludicrous when he later aimed at President Trump and The Post.
His latest bid is simply scandalous. Cuomo has the nerve to blame grieving family members and heroic nursing-home staffers, charging they were the ones who infected and killed as many 12,000 elderly and helpless residents.
Amy Cooper, now better known to the world as the “Central Park Karen,” appears to have even more trouble coming her way. After becoming a national symbol of… something, Cooper was widely derided for her reaction to a Black man who was reportedly in the park doing some bird watching after he asked her to put her dog on its leash. She went viral for all the wrong reasons and was promptly targeted for cancellation by the left. But her problems aren’t over yet. Since one part of her response involved calling 911 on the birdwatcher, the Manhattan DA is filing charges against her for abusing the emergency reporting system

Many Americans, after they have been in Washington, D.C., for a few years, become less fervent about their beliefs. Donald Trump has become more fervent about the things he believes. After this past weekend and Donald’s solemnly expressed indignation about the shredding of our shared values and beliefs he is being excoriated by the media — the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post — for being divisive, racist, and provocative. For some reason Americans both on the left and the right have taken a pass on defending American values and beliefs. Donald Trump is not taking a pass. He is indignant.
Independence Day weekend marked another bloody weekend in Chicago, with at least 67 people shot – 18 fatally, including four children – as high homicide rates continue to blight the Windy City.
The week prior, five children were caught in the crossfire, in which three died. And over Memorial Day weekend, Chicago endured its bloodiest day in over six decades — 18 people were killed and 45 wounded in a 24-hour period.
According to statistics issued by the Chicago Police Department last week, shootings and murders jumped 75 percent in June compared to the same time in 2019, with 425 shootings this year compared to 242 last June.

Mary Kay Letourneau, the former Seattle-area schoolteacher who was at the center of a national scandal in the 1990s when she was convicted of raping her sixth-grade student whom she later married, has died, her attorney confirmed to KOMO News Tuesday night.
Letourneau lost a battle with cancer, her attorney, David Gehrke, said. Letourneau was a former Highline teacher who passed away after being ill for some time. She was 58.
