The Supreme Court is set to unveil its decision on Thursday about whether Congress gets to see President Donald Trump’s tax returns and financial records, a ruling that could reshape the balance of power between lawmakers and the White House in the most dramatic way since Watergate.
The court’s final opinion day of its 2019-20 term also includes a related dispute about whether New York prosecutors can similarly access Trump’s financial records, held by his accounting firm and banks.

My take? The SCOTUS will determine if fishing expiditions are allowed.

I don’t care WHO is President.
Tax returns (such that income tax was never in our Founders’ wildest imaginations) are private.
I would feel this way even for a Dim.
But while we’re at it, let’s see the returns of Schiff for Brains, Stacked Nancy, and Maxine/James Brown Waters.
(I realize these are the TIP of the iceberg)

Then we can expect Trump demand to see Pelosi and Schumer’s tax returns too.

There's a pretty good argument to be made here for repealing the 16th Amendment and replacing it with something else - a national sales tax? the Fair Tax? No one before Federal income taxes were imposed would be threatened like this to expose personal income information.

He has been in office for three years. How long do you have to keep copies of the returns ?
His tax returns should be the least of his resume.

There are three separate, but equal branches of government. Expecting the President to conform to a tradition (not a law) while ignoring the leaders of the other two branches is nonsense.

They better be very careful on this. If they say that the democrats can access Trump's tax returns they have opened pandora's box. This would mean that congress could access any sitting president, fellow congress and senators and the justices.

If SCOTUS compels their disclosure, it’s another nail in the Constitution’s coffin. If they do the right thing, I still want to believe that Trump is sitting on the tax returns waiting to pull them out at the right time and say, “Have a look. You thought there would be something to nail on me. Try to find it,” knowing there’s no there there. Like the phone transcripts, he knows how to be a showman.

I must have missed the lengthening of the SCOTUS term-- First Monday of October to the last day of June....

These subpoenas are for access by Congress and the New York prosecutors, not the public. The tax returns will not become public records. President Trump probably has very complicated tax returns one can imagine due to the nature of his numerous businesses. If he is required to turn his tax returns over to either Congress or the prosecutors, or both, they will pour over the returns, cherry pick, spin, and leak in the most vicious manner. There will be no effective way to refute the spinning.
