What is behind the violent shootings in Chicago?

Original Article

Independence Day weekend marked another bloody weekend in Chicago, with at least 67 people shot – 18 fatally, including four children – as high homicide rates continue to blight the Windy City. The week prior, five children were caught in the crossfire, in which three died. And over Memorial Day weekend, Chicago endured its bloodiest day in over six decades — 18 people were killed and 45 wounded in a 24-hour period. According to statistics issued by the Chicago Police Department last week, shootings and murders jumped 75 percent in June compared to the same time in 2019, with 425 shootings this year compared to 242 last June. In addition, homicides rose

Evil over good has prevailed and the one chance to save the community was the cops who have been destroyed there for years. Until the good citizens rise up and risk life to fight evil it is a lost cause like in Mexico.

Quite frankly many in normal society consider a substantial portion of most big city populations to be simply feral. They have not contributed anything to normal society for generations and are now developing their own sub-culture the basic tenet of which is survival of the fittest. I consider the movie 'Escape from New York' to have been a warning, a prediction that is coming true before our own eyes.

And the answer is, more social programs funded by taxpayer dollars. It's always the same, poverty and poor education. None of it is their fault, it's the fault of the government ( read Donald Trump). Somehow, these poor children can afford guns and ammo, smartphones and $200 Nikes. Maybe if we quit paying baby mamas a premium for more than the 1st mistake, we could cut down on the number of poor children running the streets. Maybe if we started holding parents, teachers and politicians accountable, we might see a change.

Political Corruption? The fact they have some of the most stringent gun laws in the country yet, they do not charge anyone with gun crimes? Gangs, gangs, we don't have no stinking gangs. How about the Ferguson effect. Or, how many of these shooters actually get arrested and prosecuted. This just goes on and on. The city is a basket case beyond repair. Let's just build a fence around it to keep them in.

I have been lecturing you people about gangs, drug sales, turf wars, youngsters selling drugs. the one omission in the analysis was the effect of fentanyl on the whole mess. cheap fentanyl has undercut retail drug prices, meaning turf for sales is much more important to defend/expand. thus the shootings.

Has that dipwad of a mayor one time said something about the killings? No she blames anything and everybody for them. Surely they were scraping the bottom of the barrel when she got elected. I'd like to see Sheriff Clarke or Mayor Giuliani take over as mayor and see what happens. Right now they are still losing. And whose taxpayers are paying to keep the hospitals open to take care of the gunshot victims. It can't be Chicago people. They don't work.

Sorry, but I call BS on this article and the Chief. It is simply a riff on the old, "People commit horrifying crimes because they're poor. End poverty (or drugs, their supposedly inevitable concomitant] and you'll have no more crime." (Fact check: West Virginia is the third poorest state in the union. It has the fourth lowest crime rate. My numbers may be slightly off, but that's what they were a few years ago. They too have a fentanyl problem, but no mass killings or disorder.) So, I repeat, this is poorly-disguised liberal BS from an obedient police chief. The crimes being committed by young people may have some proximate relationship to the issue of "drug turf," but they are rooted in liberal apologies for irresponsibility -- the glib and illiterate contempt for history and shared values seen everywhere as our legacy media congratulate statue breakers. Young men need very little encouragement to act out. If affluent liberal institutions congratulate them for it, the results follow. In their aphasic, even moronic way, the young gangbangers of Chicago feel their crimes are POLITICAL -- they're showing their contempt for "white" authority, an attitude they correctly perceive their literate mentors on television and in the "civil rights" movement are promoting. The police chief is clueless. His enemy isn't drugs. It's the liberal masters who employ him. .

FTA: Police study of the 436 murders a year prior found that most of the victims were young Black males killed in gang-related disturbances, noting that "most victims and their killers had a prior history of an arrest." Don't even try to blame this slaughter on the virus, Lightfoot. The wide path from Mexico to Chicago has been known as the "Heroin Highway" ever since I spent a year there in the seventies and promptly left that toxic environment. The promise of no work and easy money effectively sucks in the blacks. Yes, poverty is a motivator but with everything necessary to begin a productive life being free to them such as education, food and housing, it can not surpass the glory of the gangsta life, riding around in a big shiny car, carrying a "nine" and adorning oneself in glittery jewelry. Block the incoming drugs and 95% of the problem goes away. Then there is the long term process of changing the culture and without effective education there is no solution to the adoption of victimhood as a way of life. There are some tough love solutions to avoiding that way of life that would not be acceptable today because honesty is not permitted when dealing with this problem. Remove all fatherless children from single mothers and put them up for adoption in real families or build academy type schools where the students live in under strong supervision. Send anybody caught dealing drugs away for a LONG time. Stop the drug traffic at the Mexican border. Patrol the streets with dogs, which are better at finding contraband than any technology. Above all, put somebody in charge who is serious about fixing it, not some politically correct loser.

Since the population in question will not voluntarily change their "lifestyle" at the behest of "The Man", I see the only workable solution is to tie welfare benefits to mandatory birth control. If they manage to have a kid while on benefits, these brood mares would get the choice of having their tubes tied to continue benefits, or lose their benefits. The "ferals problem" should disappear in 10-30 years. I'd like to see the libs' head explode if this was a bill working its way through Congress.

"most of the victims were young Black males killed in gang-related disturbances" And in a dem controlled city, especially in an election year, Blacks are untouchable. Remember Trump's facetious quip about being about being able to shoot someone and get away with it and the media going nuts about it? Well, right now, Blacks can and are. The article goes on to spout the usual claptrap about societal problems. Yes, fractured society can lead to unrest. However, the way to stop it is, TO STOP IT! To make it crystal clear it will not be tolerated. Society's problems are not going to get cleaned up overnight. Gangs and drugs are a cheap and easy fix as long as they are tolerated. If they are not, people will need to search for and accept other choices, like education, responsibility, and hard work. You have to stop and remove the degenerative choices to nudge people to the better choices.

No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.
