More than two dozen House Democrats put forward legislation Friday that would slap "assault weapons" and high-capacity magazines with a 1,000% excise tax, a change that would raise the price of a $500 weapon to $5,000 in a bid to reduce access to guns across the country. Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., and 24 other House Democrats introduced the legislation Friday. It’s the second time Democrats have put forward the idea. Beyer and 37 Democrats proposed the same idea last year when Democrats controlled the House, but it never moved. The text of Beyer’s new bill was not out as of

OK, fine...might as well make it retro-active as well. Need to make a big splash upon implementation, so go after the BIG BUYERS 1st. Such as every govt agency that buys them, and EVERY police force, especially The Mega City ones, NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, Houston, Dallas, Baltimore, Atlanta, San Fran.,DC...and all of DC's surrounding suburbs in VA and maryland). Every cop used to have a 5 shot revolver, and a 3-5 shot pump shotgun in the trunk. NOW every cop has a high capacity semi-auto primary weapon, another back up gun, and an AR in the trunk, if not right there in the front seat. These dems claim the gun itself is causing every mass shooting event...but the video footage from EVERY event shows 100+ cops carrying them, hanging around for hours afterwards. AR weapons and high capacity handguns are used to STOP every mass murder event, regardless of the weapon used by the killer(s). The US govt has spent $BILLIONS and millions of hours studying and testing to determine EXACTLY what weapons platforms/systems/combinations are the VERY BEST to deal with the crime the cops get called to deal with...by the citizens who are actually dealing with it first. What they bring to the scene to "Solve" the problems is not a Blue uniform or a shiny badge, nor even the radio is the "solution" that they get called to deliver...what they BRING is a high capacity semi-auto handgun, and an AR15. Purchasing, training and issuance is PROOF that the Govt itself has determined what weapons are BEST to deal with the everyday crime, everyday citizens have/do/will face...Dems now say citizens do not have a right, nor do they deserve, the very items Govt has determined is MOST NEEDED.

Reminds me of story about a huge city controlled by hundreds of criminal organizations. Corrupt in every way imaginable. Assassination was a thriving business. The topmost criminal organization controlled the manufacture of ammo and put a tax on it making guns too expensive in the employ of most crimes. Why did they do it? They did not want murdering a person to become too easy. They were most likely protecting themselves. When I stop and think about it, that criminal organization could be our government.

Great logic democrats. The people who abuse weapons like this make enough money through drug sales and other criminal activity that $5000 is pocket change. Fortunately for US patriots, the years during the corrupt Obama mis-administration and under the current communist regime, we wisely bought all the weapons we need. You are still avoiding the oft-promised but never implemented action of confiscation. Come and get 'em, what are you waiting for?

Newly manufactured “assault weapons”, i.e. selective-fire, intermediate-power rifles and carbines, have been not available to normal citizens for quite some time. Semi-automatic weapons are NOT “assault weapons”. Of course, actual facts don’t mean anything to these tyrants.

A pair of recent reports on the state of homelessness in Los Angeles seemed to send mixed signals about how the effort to bring people in from the streets is going. The first came was an announcement from Mayor Karen Bass, who said last month that her administration has helped shelter 14,381 unhoused people, largely by focusing on the encampments that have become symbols of this dismaying problem. This represents a major step forward in addressing homelessness, given that Bass pledged to find housing – permanent or interim – for 17,000 people in her first year. So 14,000 in the

Men are invading female spaces, stealing championships, and mocking the very meaning of “woman”— subtly attempting to reverse centuries of progress. Where are the Gloria Steinems of today? Why are high level feminist activists freely allowing the regression of women’s rights?
