Ukraine war: Western armour struggles
against Russian defences

Original Article

The general in charge of Ukraine's stuttering counter-offensive in the south has said Russian defences are making it difficult for military equipment, including Western tanks and armoured vehicles, to move forward. Gen Oleksandr Tarnavskyi says his forces are struggling to overcome multi-layered minefields and fortified defensive lines. "That is why most of the tasks have to be performed by troops." He says Russia's military has displayed "professional qualities" by preventing Ukrainian forces from "advancing quickly". (Snip) But so far there's little evidence that Western supplied tanks and armoured vehicles have been able to tip the balance decisively in Ukraine's favour.

Comments:

More and more military equipment gets poured into Ukraine but not much changes.

Static trench warfare hasn't changed much since Petersburg in our civil war. Saddam tried to sucker us into that in the first Gulf war following the same Russian doctrine but Stormin Norman outflanked him instead.

The Beeb seems to have believed the Liar-in-Chief's yak that we are nearly out of ammunition. That Biden fool will lose us every ally we ever had. Maybe Tarnavskyi just has troops checking for land mines because he loves blood and gore.

Have we not learned from WWII? Who believes that Russia will stop at Ukraine. What if Europe would have stood up to Hitler when he started taking territory before the start of WWII. When has changing borders in Europe after WWII ever been a positive development. Russia is to trying to reinstall the USSR. What is the argument for stopping supporting Ukraine. I know many Americans support Putin but he is no friend of the US. Come on Man

A-r-m-o-r. This is not the UK. In addition, armor is a defensive piece of gear, not offensive. Your medieval knights attacked with swords, lances and arrows, they wore armor.

Neither Russia or Ukraine are likable or allies. #4 is correct, the biden crime family did most of their business in the Ukraine. Putin is a dictator and I have no room in my US Constitutional mind or any dictator, friendly or not. I do believe Putin would love to restore most if not all the former states back into a union of some sort. The only good thing coming from his war is the weakening of both these states.

A pair of recent reports on the state of homelessness in Los Angeles seemed to send mixed signals about how the effort to bring people in from the streets is going. The first came was an announcement from Mayor Karen Bass, who said last month that her administration has helped shelter 14,381 unhoused people, largely by focusing on the encampments that have become symbols of this dismaying problem. This represents a major step forward in addressing homelessness, given that Bass pledged to find housing – permanent or interim – for 17,000 people in her first year. So 14,000 in the

Men are invading female spaces, stealing championships, and mocking the very meaning of “woman”— subtly attempting to reverse centuries of progress. The testimony from Chloe Cole and former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Paula Scanlan at a Congressional hearing on Thursday again points to a troubling emptiness in the narrative – where are the feminists? Despite the obvious attack on women’s rights and all the achievements they fought so hard for, the headlines are empty of major feminists championing these women. Where are the Gloria Steinems of today? Why are high level feminist activists freely allowing the regression of women’s rights?

BRICK, N.J. — New Jersey is pushing an ambitious agenda to move its more than 9 million residents away from natural gas and gasoline to heat their homes and power their cars, in favor of electricity to do the job of both. But like many other places in the country, the moves, designed to lessen the harmful impact of burning fossil fuels on the planet’s climate, are garnering significant opposition from foes who warn that the government is coming to take away your stove and your car. New Jersey utility regulators are to vote Wednesday on a series of “decarbonization”

A paddleboarder who drowned near former President Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard estate has been identified as Tafari Campbell, the Obamas’ personal chef. Campbell, 45, of Dumfries, Virginia, was recovered Monday morning a day after disappearing in the waters of Edgartown Great Pond on Martha’s Vineyard. Massachusetts State Police said Campbell was employed by the former president and was visiting Martha’s Vineyard at the time of his passing. The Biden administration on Friday proposed tightening an efficiency standard for new residential water heaters — a move that it said would both save consumers money and combat climate change. The draft rule would require that, in order to become more efficient, most common-size electric water heaters use heat pump technology and gas-powered heaters use condensing technology. The proposal from the Energy Department would cut 501 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over 30 years, the department said. That’s the equivalent of the emissions of 134 coal-fired power plants in one year. The department also said the standards would

Faced with a historically unpopular president overseeing a weak economy and promoting left-wing “Bidenomics,” Republicans have a golden opportunity in 2024. The election couldn’t be more winnable. And the only thing that should matter for Republicans is actually winning it. While there is a sense that Donald Trump has become a frontrunner in the Republican primaries, there is just as much of a sense that he can’t win a general election—not anymore. Here's the hard truth: If Trump secures the Republican nomination, Joe Biden will be re-elected. But, if Ron DeSantis becomes the nominee, then the Democrats have little to no chance.

Lee had previously stated that teens are not fully capable of making permanent, life-altering decisions until their brains fully mature at 25-years-old, but when it comes to sex changes, she apparently is entirely on board with kids making these kinds of decisions at incredibly young ages.

On Wednesday, she was presented with an absolute circus after the DOJ tried to pass off an unprecedented agreement whereby Hunter Biden would receive near global immunity. Instead of putting that in the plea deal itself, it was buried in a pre-trial diversion agreement for a gun charge. After pressing the two sides, it became clear that a wink-and-nod deal had been formulated whereby the immunity would stand, but wouldn’t be made public as part of the plea.
