The Biden administration on Friday proposed tightening an efficiency standard for new residential water heaters — a move that it said would both save consumers money and combat climate change.
The draft rule would require that, in order to become more efficient, most common-size electric water heaters use heat pump technology and gas-powered heaters use condensing technology. The proposal from the Energy Department would cut 501 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over 30 years, the department said. That’s the equivalent of the emissions of 134 coal-fired power plants in one year. The department also said the standards would

They will continue to beat the dead horse of climate change . There's money in it for them, reduced living conditions for everyone else.

Ask these new regulations to "fight climate change" also look like they are intended to keep the economy churning at a high rate. They outlaw ICE cars and force you to buy EVs. They outlaw old water heaters and force you to buy new water heaters. Etc. It's all a con game. And they tip off their pals where to invest next as entire business sectors are shifted from one product to another.

Why don't they go all the way and just make illegal to eat and breathe? That way, no more CO2 pollution, cow farts, overpopulation, etc.? Then Mother Gaia can be free of the human race so that she can prosper as she was intended. Really, isn't that the goal? Why keep taking half-measures?

We added 2 bathrooms and our contractor talked me into a new water heater that has separate tanks for upstairs and downstairs. It’s covered in a thick polymer type shell. I know nothing about water heaters but every repairman that’s been in our basement comments it’s the Cadillac of water heaters. I’m assuming with that covering it’s very energy efficient as well. Joe can suck my duck.

Every time I have bought a new appliance in the last ten years it always has a sticker on it saying how efficient it is and how much money it will save me.
Honestly: They are no more efficient than the old one s, they don't last as long and they haven't saved me a freaking penny.

These are the very same IDIOTS who are giving away "free" window-mounted AC units to the "less fortunate" while trying to pass legislation to outlaw window-mounted AC units!!

The only way to make water heaters more efficient is to make them colder which has nothing to do with efficiency!
Buy one now and put it in storage.

Water temperature depends a on how many feet of cold pipe the water must travel, before getting to a faucet. The current water heaters are adjusted for summer temperatures. You have to get a plumber to increase the temperature for winter, and for more distant faucets.

Oh come on now stupids. Those dweebs in government are at it again Ya think Biden thought this one up by himself. Banning gas stoves. What rot. I have a kitchen sink that pees out water so slow I have to get water from bathtub. I am old enough to manage my use of water. I don't want to open a box with a sink/faucet and then find out I can't get any water out of it. Dweebs in the government. My sink reminds me of an old lady whose bladder is stopped up. The best part of this sink is the hose, you know the lovely curved hose. Reminds me of an old man. Just hangs there dribbling. Let us alone dweeb. The comment above says it all.

In my heart of hearts, I know damn well that ''The Biden administration'' does not do one thing of any use to human existence in any way, shape or form. This is just some editor saying to some writer, say something positive about Biden. That is to dream the impossible dream! He is a demented pedo, his wife is his Chief Enabler, and his son knows the Big Guy's limits but will still exploit him for cash or dismissal of punishment, if any. Number 44 is clapping his hands in glee when nobody is watching.

More energy efficient while costing three times as much.
How are people supposed to afford a hot water heater after paying $100K for an electric car?

That number of coal-fired plants is the same as what the Chinese keep building every year. So, we go dirty while China cleans up. Is that the deal?
