Scottish government axes 16 million trees
to clear the way for ‘greener’ solutions

Original Article

Stupidity is increasingly state-sanctioned. Since 2000, the Scottish government has felled around 1,700 trees on a daily basis, all to make way for “green” initiatives. Leave it to the government and their leftist abettors to harp on the “destruction of the environment” then chop down literal trees to create barren wastelands—all to make room for obtrusive, industrial, inanimate behemoths that obliterate all sorts of animal populations, and create massive amounts of environmental pollution (in production, maintenance, and disposal).

Comments:

All those trees what inhale CO2 and exhale O2 replaced by wind turbines that do nothing.

My last golf trip to Scotland was ten years ago but even then those damned alien-looking turbines seemed to be everywhere. If they were actually cost effective and beneficial, the costs might be worth it but they are not. Just an expensive and useless way to destroy a beautiful landscape.

Scotland is the stupider part of the island they somewhat coexist on with the English, and I say that as a person with a fair amount of that ancestry. I will never understand marring beautiful natural land or coastline with hideous wind turbines but hey, our NE is all over it too. We saw a ton of turbines on the flat plains outside Paris, France. Ugly sight but that is not a very pretty part of France anyway and mostly farmland, France is the major food producer in Europe barring the European parts of Russia. But they do still have nuclear power plants for the better part of their power in France too, at least for now. I wish we had followed their lead 40 years ago and built nuclear power plants hither thither and yon and logically disposed of the limited waste they produce when you do the job right. That would have kept our nation rolling indefinitely.

Millions of tons of CO2 would be absorbed annually by those trees. So they DESTROY massive natural CO2 utilization capacity while whining about "too much CO2". Cannot have it both ways, you idiots. And windmills are a sad, ugly, miserable, expensive and unreliable source of intermittent power.....for a decade or so, and then they are worn out and need to be junked - and who pays for THAT massive cost? And where do the non-recyclable massive blades wind up?

Oh my gosh. This is horrifyingly stupid. They have begun the desertification of this rocky isle. Flora AND fauna will suffer immediately. No birds, more noxious insects, fewer beneficial ones, no pollination. I'm not a botanist or an etymologist, but I've observed enough in my own yard and where I grew up on Cape Cod to know the beauty of trees and their usefulness for life. For years, the early colonial settlers were blamed for deforestation of New England and beyond. People had at least the good sense to replant trees and plants. This is baffling. Did the Scottish people agree to this? Why am I surprised. A brain-devouring disease is spreading around the world, begun in institutions of "higher learning" and accelerated from there, through the children who physically mature, but intellectually are stunted. It tends to destroy the ratiocination ability of the brain. All I can say is, these people are fools, arrogant, stupid fools.

I know how they feel. The hills to the south of my property have been denuded by the U.S. 'Forest Service': the head of this USFS district considers trees to be an "invasive species" and wants them replaced by "Native grasses and cactus". So, this spring and summer they have been cutting down tens of thousands of trees, leaving the hills naked, hot and ugly, with huge piles of drying brush to become an incredible fire hazard. (The larger pieces of wood have been hauled off to be sold for firewood).

Re #13, just curious. What state is that in? Typically trees are a boon, cooling an area, providing shade, lowering the loss of water to runoff.
