Over its almost 200 years of existence, Oberlin College has faced a civil war, an economic depression and pandemics. But until this year, it had never faced the likes of Kalinda Watson. Student editors on The Oberlin Review have risen up against the addition of Watson to the college ranks as an existential threat.
No, Watson is not a conservative or a Republican — groups that haven’t been welcome on campus for many years. Oberlin is ranked in the top three most liberal colleges in the country, and finding a conservative professor is about as likely as finding a licensed, practicing wizard.

President Biden launched his reelection campaign recently with an unconventional video that looked like it was produced by former “West Wing” producer Aaron Sorkin.
The video shows an invigorated Biden shaking hands and embracing Americans from across the ethnic and racial spectrum. It also features plenty of his otherwise largely invisible vice president, Kamala Harris, who doesn’t speak during the video but sure appears to love working with the president.
Despite the campaign relaunch, there hasn’t yet been much in the way of traditional campaigning. Much like 2020, Biden has preferred to lay low and away from the stump while mostly avoiding the press.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) responded to calls for more gun control following Saturday’s Allen, Texas, outlet mall attack by noting that blue states with stringent gun control have “mass shootings” as well.

Donald Trump has an edge over Joe Biden in the 2024 election with a new poll showing the former president with a 6 percent higher chance of getting another four years in the White House.
Additionally, a large number of Americans think that Trump, 76, is more physically fit and mentally sharp to serve another term over those who feel the same way about Biden.
At 80-years-old, Biden is already the oldest-ever elected president in U.S. history – and would be 82 on his second inauguration if reelected in 2024.

Title 42 is finally coming to an end on Thursday, May 11 and there are at least 10,000 migrants waiting in Mexico to immediately cross the U.S. southern border once the policy is no longer in use.
The public health measure was employed in March 2020 by then-President Donald Trump as a way to quell migration over the southern border at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While many saw it as a way to keep COVID-19 from spreading by way of illegal immigration and a way to address the spikes of migrant crossings, immigrant advocates felt it was inhumane for those seeking asylum in the U.S.

Broadly speaking, Americans are divided into three groups over charges that Joe Biden participated in his family’s corrupt influence-peddling schemes.
First are those who, like me, are convinced the “big guy” secretly got his share of the foreign millions paid to his son and brothers over many years. Second, are those who are undecided because they haven’t heard of the charges or don’t know enough about them.
The third group refuses to consider the charges because they are serious enough to send Biden packing and elect a Republican, possibly the dreaded Donald Trump.
This third group comprises hardcore Democrats and the mainstream media, which are often indistinguishable.

It is impressive how lockstep they remain. How common across all media is their opinion of us, the many-too-many. We are anti-democratic. We are chaotic and dangerous. We must be restrained. We must be censored. We are fascist.

A trans woman and drag queen appeared to promote a paid partnership with Smirnoff, but the vodka retailer is denying any current deal with the budding activist.
Several recent Instagram posts from drag queen and trans woman "Maxine LaQueene" featured the official "Paid Partnership with Smirnoff" tags, denoting that the major liquor retailer has hired the biological male for promotional material.
In addition to being a promoter of drag and transgenderism, LaQueene is an outspoken LGBTQ activist who had recently been removed from the Texas state capitol building by police for disrupting a legislature vote on a trans bill. Smirnoff has denied having any current working relationship with LaQueene.

Another act to subdue an aggressive mentally ill man leads to another George Floyd media-leftist whitewash of the perpetrator and this time, I think it will not work.
Don Surber says it well:
“Democrats turned subways into hell and now give good citizens the choice between being the victim of a lunatic who kills them or a lunatic justice system that punishes anyone who stands up to the psychos.
"It’s called anarcho-tyranny.“
Let’s review the comparison. Jordan Neely had a long criminal record -- 42 arrests. He threatened passengers who made several 911 calls without a response.
His record showed he was increasingly capable of violence.

Our deeply divided nation is reunited at last! We cannot agree on whether dismembering children in the womb is a monstrous crime or a basic human right. We can’t agree on whether men can become champion female swimmers. We certainly will never agree on whether a jaw-droppingly corrupt kleptocrat deep in the throes of dementia should even have gotten near the Oval Office. We argue over whether the Founding Fathers were slaveowners to be despised or visionaries of freedom to be revered. But there is one thing we do agree on: we all loathe Bud Light.

Democratic lawmakers now attacking Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas over supposed ethics violations have largely avoided calling out similar behavior from the high court’s liberal justices.
Following the ProPublica report on Clarence Thomas’ vacations, which were paid for by long-time friend and billionaire real estate developer Harlan Crow, Democrats urged him to resign and began calling for a new Supreme Court code of ethics. But, they have overlooked the political entanglements of liberal justices—including trips former Justice Stephen Breyer took that were funded by a Democrat donor, and the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s connection to a left-wing feminist group, among others.

A black man has been accused of shooting two white men in the back of the head in what authorities are describing as a racially motivated hate crime in Oklahoma.
Carlton Gilford, who is homeless, allegedly shot Lundin Hathcock, 35, and James McDaniel, 55, in two different shootings on April 18, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
He allegedly killed Hathcock in Rudisill Library around 9.40am. He reportedly walked up behind Hathcock, who was sitting at a desk, and shot him.
Shortly after, he allegedly went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and shot McDaniel. After he fell to the ground, Gilford shot him again.

What a lost opportunity for the United States.
Had Harry and Meghan the grace to accept largesse and privilege, they would have played a key role at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
Surely they would have been front-row.
Surely they would have had a place on the balcony.
And surely U.S. would have been represented in Great Britain as never before — as part of the monarchy! Never underestimate how awed we Americans are by British pomp and circumstance, the history that dwarfs our own, the displays of military might and national pride.
The coronation matters to us, too.
Saturday’s ceremony also offered a reassuring display of familial unity,

The British media is abuzz with reports of Queen Elizabeth II’s disdain for Meghan Markle. According to a new report, the Queen referred to Markle as “evil” and regretted that her grandson, Prince Harry, ever met her, describing their relationship as a “complete catastrophe.”
The source quoted in The Spectator stated that it was out of character for the Queen to use such a word to describe anyone.
Markle did not attend the coronation of King Charles III, and according to Royal biographer Tom Bower, the Queen expressed relief that Markle was not coming to Prince Philip’s funeral.

Republicans are ramping up incriminating information on Hunter Biden as President Joe Biden insists his son did nothing wrong.
A new report reveals that former intelligence leaders needed to give Biden a "talking point" during 2020 presidential debates with former President Trump when they began dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop from Hell stories. According to the Washington Examiner, Mike Morell, former deputy director of the CIA, reportedly sent a recruitment letter in October 2020 to several intelligence officials a few days before the second presidential debate

President Joe Biden brushed his decision not to attend King Charles III's coronation on Saturday during a softball interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle by saying: 'I told him I couldn't be there because I have this going on.'
Biden, 80, said that he told the king that he would be in the United Kingdom during the summer during the NATO conference. 'He's a good acquaintance and we've worked together on environmental issues,' the president said of King Charles III.
The president dispatched his wife to represent the US at the celebrations in London.

California's reparations task force voted on Saturday in favor of a reparations program, the first of its kind in the United States.
The committee of nine members voted to give final approval a plan with detailed explanations for how restitution should be made to victims of systemic racism, housing discrimination, mass incarceration, and health care inequities. The plan now goes to state legislature for approval. If passed, it could mean hundreds of billions of dollars in payments to black residents of the Golden State.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently slammed Biden’s border policy, indirectly, by claiming that the migrant crisis is ‘destroying’ the city.
Adams is finally experiencing what people who live near the border have known for years.
Adams says New York is at a breaking point due to the number of migrants who keep arriving in the city and needing services.
It was recently reported that it’s costing New York City up to $5 million dollars a day to house and feed illegal immigrants.

In a sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, President Joe Biden gave Americans further cause for concern with his remarks on a number of critical topics.
Most perplexing was his rambling response to a question within the first 30 seconds of the interview. Watch: (Tweet/Video) Despite polling data indicating that his age is a vulnerability with voters, Biden suggested that bad press was to blame for his negative approval ratings. (Tweet/Video) “Well, I don’t think people — by the way, every major one that won re-election their polling numbers were where mine are now,” Biden falsely claimed.

As the geography narrows before us, it is important to remember the stakes and avoid the distractions. As a consequence, the baseline must be reaffirmed. It is critical to understand that both the DNC and RNC are private corporations with no affiliation to government.
It is a difficult shift in thinking, but the party system in U.S. politics revolves around two distinct private corporations, two clubs that feed from the same corporate trough and position for influence and affluence within a political dynamic they control.

The whole world is commenting on and speculating about the abrupt departure of former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson from that network. (snip) They were treating me as though by my talking to Mr. Carlson and Mr. Bannon, no matter about what—no matter that the issues and evidence that I brought to these platforms and to these interlocutors were both true and important—I was burning my I-am-a-good-person membership club card, in some kind of public ritual of immolation, and that thus I would have to be exiled far from the progressive community and shamed away entirely from the warming of progressive campfires. “Unclean! Unclean!”

As we’ve been covering here at LI, the radical left has declared war on one of the three branches of our government. They are on the warpath because it’s the one branch of government over which they (now) have no control.[Snip]Protests are picking up steam again outside the private homes of conservative Supreme Court justices.[Snip]Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, has opened an investigation into the DOJ order to U.S. Marshals not to arrest illegal protesters outside justices’ homes.[Snip]It seems quite clear that the radical left won’t rest until they can appoint more leftist justices to the Court...
