Over its almost 200 years of existence, Oberlin College has faced a civil war, an economic depression and pandemics. But until this year, it had never faced the likes of Kalinda Watson. Student editors on The Oberlin Review have risen up against the addition of Watson to the college ranks as an existential threat.
No, Watson is not a conservative or a Republican — groups that haven’t been welcome on campus for many years. Oberlin is ranked in the top three most liberal colleges in the country, and finding a conservative professor is about as likely as finding a licensed, practicing wizard.
No, Watson is far, far worse. She

Seriously, if you were an employer, would you hire what is guaranteed to be an eternally butt-hurt lie-beral with a useless degree from Oberlin College to work for you?!?!?!?!?

I hope this nonsense leads to the closure of places like Oberlin.

Oberlin is not unique or even an outlier. But hiring a risk manager seems a rather silly approach to controlling student and faculty mis-behaviors. Violating someone's rights to speech is criminal and punishment is called for. Again, none of this activity will end until that is hard and fast reality. If the feds were to withhold funding to schools which failed to protect free speech - this would end yesterday.

The folks running the college should lay out the ground rules. If the students don't like it, they can enroll elsewhere.

The last I heard, college was a place for education. If you don't like what you are being taught, go somewhere else. The only justice here is that universities that tolerate activism and rioting on campus are wasting a lot of money and cheating the students who are there simply to learn.

Ok, but Turley works at a Uni that is almost as bad. GWU is a worthless liberal pit and every bit a part of the swamp as any of them.

Oberlin was founded in 1833. Interesting history makes current events no surprise. For example:
“Perfectionist radicalism and attendant causes, including the Graham vegetarian diet, female moral reform, temperance, missionary activity, and particularly antislavery activism, permeated early Oberlin. “

What's the story - do all these kids just end up working for Starbucks or some offshore NGO?
What I mean is, what is their education directed towards?

Watson is supposed to make them behave (no more shoplifting?) so that the school will not attract so many lawsuits.

I dont care what college kids have to say about anything. They havent lived life. They havent supported a family or made a payroll. They've never had to make a house or car payment. They've never gone to a job they hate because they had obligations that were more important than their immediate happiness. They know nothing, and are only able to repeat what they are force fed at their communist schools.
Student activists? Ptttttt.

Just like the government racket, the education racket is a sweet scam. It’s no wonder that the perps fight so hard to expand them. Look at what happened to Donald Trump when he tried limitations.

Normally, a corporate risk manager oversees things like plant safety, helping train company drivers etc. They also determine what kind of insurance coverage is needed for property and liability factors. It would not surprise me if Oberlin is having trouble obtaining coverage for liable and slander and hired this person because of a request by their insurance company.
