President Joe Biden met with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday and toured neighborhoods in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, but he immediately pivoted to global warming.

The survey showed DeSantis holding a comfortable overall lead against his Democrat challenger Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL), leading 49 percent to Crist’s 41 percent. Seven percent remain unsure of who they would support. DeSantis happens to enjoy stronger support from his Republican base than Crist sees from Democrats, as 95 percent of Republicans support DeSantis and 90 percent of Democrats support Crist. The governor also leads among independents, 52 percent to the congressman’s 34 percent.

A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a July 2021 decision from Texas federal judge Andrew Hanen, who said the Obama administration had no authority to impose DACA, according to a court filing obtained by Axios. The court blocked the Biden administration from enrolling new illegal immigrants, which would provide them with work permits and shield them from deportation, but said current beneficiaries could stay and that immigration officials could process DACA renewals.

A panel of energy ministers of the OPEC+ alliance of oil-exporting countries on Wednesday agreed to recommend a historically large cut in output, a stinging rebuke to the Biden administration that is likely to mean higher prices at gas pumps in the United States and Europe.

The 10 highest paid Amtrak executives raked in six-figure bonuses in 2021–in one instance nearly doubling a senior-level executive’s salary–despite the rail network struggling with low ridership and plummeting revenues. The top-earning employees received “earned incentive” bonuses of more than $200,000 each—more than 50% of their base salaries–according to figures obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and a statement from an Amtrak spokesperson.
The bonuses enraged the Transportation Workers Union that represents more than 1,000 Amtrak employees, which noted in a statement that the American taxpayer is, in part, footing the bill for the six-figure rewards.

The paper reported that Konnech has been the target of "election deniers" who have made it the focus of "a new conspiracy theory about the 2020 presidential election."

Thompson reported, the "election deniers" said Konnech "had secret ties to the Chinese Communist Party and had given the Chinese government backdoor access to personal data about two million poll workers in the United States."

St. Louis - A Glasgow Village man convicted of murdering a retired St. Louis Police Captain was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
Sentencing for Stephan Cannon was set for 10:00 a.m. in Division 13. He was sentenced to life without parole for first-degree murder, a combined 15 years in prison for three counts of armed criminal action, 10 years in prison for first-degree robbery, and five years in prison for first-degree burglary. He will serve these sentences consecutively.
Cannon was found guilty in July. The jury convicted Cannon after only three hours of deliberations.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allied oil producing nations have backed plans to dramatically slash oil supplies in a bitter blow to President Joe Biden. At an OPEC Plus meeting in Vienna, the cartel's Joint Ministerial Monitoring Group recommended oil output is cut by 2 million barrels a day, or around two percent of the global oil supply. Ahead of the meeting, it was reported both Saudi Arabia and Russia were expected to push for reductions of 1 to 2 million barrels per day.

LaToya Cantrell, the controversial Democratic mayor of New Orleans, has said she will repay the city for $30,000 she claimed in city cash for first class flights after living rent-free in a government apartment just three miles from her house.
The mayor was forced to pay for the flights after a city attorney was brought in who determined that Cantrell, as a city employee, was obliged by policy to seek the cheapest fares or reimburse the city for deluxe expenses.
Cantrell spent around $10,000 on her own flat bed seat and blew a similar amount on a first-class return to France earlier this year - while her aides traveled in coach.

Florida’s month-long gas tax holiday went into effect over the weekend, as some residents are noticing gas prices falling below $3.00 per gallon in some areas.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed the Florida legislature’s $1.2 billion tax relief package in May, designed to help Floridians weather the storm of inflation in President Biden’s America. The package included tax holidays and exemption periods for a variety of categories, including baby items, appliances, disaster preparedness, and gasoline, the last of which went into effect this month. It was expected to reduce the price of gas by roughly 25 cents, if properly passed on to the consumer.
