The Biden administration is reportedly gearing up to wind down sanctions against Venezuela’s authoritarian regime, clearing the way for Chevron to resume its oil operations and reopen U.S. and European markets.
People familiar with the proposal told The Wall Street Journal that any sanctions relief wound hinge on talks between the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the country’s opposition regarding free and fair presidential elections in 2024. So far, such talks have failed to materialize. Discussions of possible sanctions relief on Venezuela come as President Biden faces mounting political pressure

Venezuela can't pump oil to begin with. And then they can't ship it. God bless socialists.

Pretty much the only refineries that can process Venezuelan asphaltic crude are on the US Gulf Coast, specifically designed and built to heat the very thick crude up enough so that it can flow in the pipes.
Nasty stuff to work with, but it does make fine gasoline and diesel fuel at the end of the refining process.....and a lot of road asphalt, too.

The island of Curaçao in the Caribbean is cheering right now. With Venezuela only 30 miles away, their refineries are ready and waiting for the crude to start flowing. Was down there in June, and most of the refineries are idle, since we're not buying oil from Venezuela.

What kind of a President hamstrings his own country? The spiteful decision Biden made on day one of this nightmare has set into motion the absolute disaster we are living in at the moment. I can’t for the life of me understand how these climate change zealots can clearly be so wrong and yet convince seemingly intelligent people that we can survive without fossil fuels. This dogma is like a virus and spreads quickly through the rich and famous and trend follower segments of the population. Anyone with two brain cells understands we cannot survive if we keep going down this pathway. Is it going to take the collapse of the world for them to wake up?

Oil from Venezuela is thick sulfur loaded crap. It requires that the oil be heated to go through pipelines and an extra refining process has to be used to remove the sulfur and other contaminates. Unless something has changed in the last forty years, it also takes longer to load that oil into a tanker for transportation. Having worked on oil tankers for a major oil company back in the 70's, our stops to load oil generally required a two day stop for loading the oil. In Venezuela it took almost three days. Because of the extra refining required for this oil, it's more expensive to refine. So, the company I worked for didn't buy that much oil from Venezuela very often because they had to sell the finished product at the same price as sweeter crude which required less refining. Plus, having a tanker sitting around an extra day or so waiting to be loaded cost the company extra money.

Maybe there is an under the table deal between Biden, his leftist crew and the Democrats, and the Venezuelan regime running that bankrupt socialist country, that Biden will allow unlimited numbers of the poor and uneducated Venezuelan excess population to enter the USA in violation of the U.S. immigration laws as migrants (illegal aliens) and stay here, if in turn the Venezuelan regime will send a enough Venezuelan oil to the USA to allow Biden to claim that he is bring US gasoline prices down. Maybe not, but to US Border Patrol Officers along the borderline it sure looks that way.

In the 1980s I was involved with purchasing and moving foreign oil to two refineries on the Mississippi River. Oil from Mexico (Pemex0 and central America is very low grade, low gravity oil and not used for anything except road surfacing asphalt. It is not fuel grade high gravity oil for vehicle fuel. Joe Biden is a dunce and doesn't know anything. The Sulphur content in the oil is so high emitting H2S gas to the point we had to wear gas masks to measure and pump when on the deck of the ships. Sometimes the air was so dense with H2S you had to wear masks on the levee before going on the ship from the gang plank. This is a Joe Biden green energy farce when we are sitting on top of the solution under our own soil.

Venezuela produces the dirtiest (high Sulfur content), high emissions), heaviest (high specific gravity requiring specialized refining) oil on the international market. Buying more crude from Venezuela is an intentional act against the environment, akin to shutting down clean natural gas home heating and power plant generation. Our own West Texas Intermediate has long been the U.S. benchmark for lighter, sweeter (less dense and low sulfur) crude oil and is one of the primary global benchmark crudes, along with North Sea Brent and Middle Eastern Dubai. Oil and gas exploration and production in Texas and in other states has now been crippled by intentional Biden Administration policies. The key to our way of life is actively being willfully choked off by our own government actors. Our children and grandchildren will be relegated to permanent 3rd world status unless the people of this country act to stop this mounting national suicide pact of the progressives.
