At least five prints of Hunter Biden’s artwork have already been sold for $75,000 each and a team of lawyers is vetting potential patrons who plan to attend his upcoming gallery show in New York City—which has now been delayed until the spring, The Post has learned. The Georges Berges Gallery sold the prints before the Oct. 1 opening of a “pop-up” presentation in Los Angeles, a source familiar with the matter said Thursday. It’s unclear who purchased the reproductions—which cost a fraction of the top price of $500,000 for an original piece by President Biden’s scandal-scarred son—or if any more were sold

The president appeared in public today, and that always means the delivery of some really good material. Sure enough, Joe Biden did not disappoint in a rambling mess of a speech he gave on the economy. In it, he slammed the unvaccinated. Worse, he actually bragged about getting people fired, claiming that it helped raise vaccination rates by subtraction.
When’s the last time you heard a president brag about putting Americans out of a job? Yet, here we are. That’s some serious Democrat logic on display. The only reason the “rate” of vaccination went up among workers at United Airlines is that

Yesterday, there was a school shooting in Texas.
Around 9:15 a.m., police in Arlington, TX, got the first call of shots fired at Timberview High School. When officers responded, they found three people wounded and one injured. A 25-year old victim, identified in various reports as a teacher, was hospitalized in “good” condition. A pregnant teacher twisted her ankle trying to get the hell out of Dodge; she was treated at the scene and released. Another victim (whose age I have not been able to determine) was hospitalized and then released. Finally, a 15-year-old is still in the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect was quickly identified

On Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” Wednesday, Laura Ingraham wondered, “Then why didn’t Biden step down today?” When Biden made that statement, the number of COVID deaths was around 220,000 in the U.S.

Military commanders who oversaw a training exercise in which nine service members died were burnt out by the pandemic, and overwhelmed by the prospect of war with Iran and Donald Trump's militarization of the southern border, according to a new report. Eight Marines and one sailor, aged 18-23, died on July 30, 2020, when their amphibious vehicle sank off the coast of California. The armored ship-to-shore transport craft took on water and sank off the coast of San Clemente Island, while returning to the USS Somerset. On Wednesday the results of two investigations into the accident—one from the Marines, one from the Navy—were published.

Divorce usually isn’t a good idea, and that’s especially true of a nearly 250-year-old continental nation.
The notion of a national breakup has long simmered as a fringe argument, but it is increasingly popular in certain precincts of the political right and has gained at least some traction with partisans of both sides. A recent survey by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia found that about 50 percent of Donald Trump voters and 40 percent of Joe Biden voters agreed to some extent with the proposition that the country should split up, with either red or blue states seceding.

There’s no need to wonder how poorly the press is reacting to Fox News turning 25 — they are telling us.In 1996, a true upstart news channel made its debut. Outside of those in the media biosphere, there was not much fanfare, largely because FoxNews had not established all of the carriage agreements with cable providers. Something that would take years to establish held the network back from being a true contender in the ratings but gradually, the network became more entrenched, and then the established news outlets began to realize they had a contender to deal with as true competition.

When does a pandemic end? How does a pandemic end? These were the questions I was asking myself after Megyn Kelly hosted Dr. Monica Gandhi on her podcast last week. As it turns out, sooner or later we’ll have to admit that our COVID-19 pandemic is morphing into the endemic stage of the disease.
A disease can be classified as endemic when it is “persisting in a population or region, generally having settled to a relatively constant rate of occurrence,” or, as Dr. Gandhi put it, you’ve reached endemic levels of a disease when “it’s gone down to a level where you live with it.”

Affirmative Action: Obviously a euphemism for institutionalized racism. Apparently, it's OK to discriminate against people of European descent rather than blindly consider merit. And in the absence of merit, mediocracy becomes more prevalent. This is the left's preferred remedy, rather than allow the "clients" of this practice better access to quality education so they can have more marketable skills.
Minimum Wage: Based on the myth that standards of living can be elevated by government edict rather than increases in productivity. Advocates for minimum wage rely on the slander that employers (AKA job-creators) exploit their workers, and they confuse the price of a worker's time with its value.

With Kamala Harris no longer in the upper chamber, Bernie Sanders took over the “dumbest senator in America” title this year, and he’s hard at work maintaining the crown.
The socialist began Wednesday by reiterating that “two people do not have the right to sabotage what 48 want and what the president of the United States wants.”
This moronic statement could be dispelled by an alert kindergartener.

Tucker Carlson hit the nail on the head in his opening monologue tonight. This is the first time the DOJ National Security Division (DOJ-NSD) has been spotlighted as the center of Main Justice’s political targeting operation. One small but important point Tucker got wrong was the timeline of the DOJ-NSD being weaponized for domestic political targeting operations. Tucker puts the shift as recent; however, the shift actually took place when Obama took office with Eric Holder as AG.
(Snip) the DOJ-NSD refused to accept inspector general oversight {pdf here} as led by AG Eric Holder and DAG Sally Yates. More readers will remember the DOJ-NSD

If you haven't noticed, Democrat Terry McAuliffe is in serious trouble in his bid to be elected again as governor of Virginia. And I mean, serious trouble. Like, Detroit Lions Super Bowl chances kind of trouble. We're talking Urban Meyer explaining things to his wife when he gets home from Ohio kind of trouble. Do you get the picture yet? And, here's the best part, McAuliffe is blaming the leader of his party, who he had campaign and fundraise for him a couple of months ago. Yup, McAuliffe is actually throwing Joe Biden under the bus to explain why his campaign is imploding in the final weeks

Late yesterday Red State ran a piece on a topic that’s been getting some attention—again, since it goes back some years. But the problem is an ongoing problem:
The CIA Blames Incompetence for Losing Dozens of Agents but Is That the Real Story?
To give you a flavor for what this is about:
Yesterday, the New York Times ran a story that was frightening in a couple of aspects. First, it reported that the C.I.A. had sent a top-secret cable to all stations warning them that “troubling” numbers of agents and informants were being rounded up by our opponents and either executed or flipped into double agents.

US troops are in Taiwan, where they have been operating for at least a year, American defence officials revealed on Thursday.
The revelation, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, comes as China’s military has been pressuring Taiwan in recent days and worrying local officials about the potential for conflict or an accidental strike.
Dozens of Chinese jets and other military aircraft have entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone over the past few days, which includes part of the Chinese mainland due to the island’s proximity to China.

Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech SE have asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expand emergency use of its COVID-19 vaccine to include kids between ages five and 11.
When the vaccine was originally authorized for use by the FDA in December 2020, it was only for those aged 16 and older, before being expanded to those aged 12 and older in May. The FDA is planning to move quickly and has a meeting tentatively scheduled to discuss the matter on October 26. I'm going to try to explain what's going on in America right now by drawing a connection between two news stories. On the surface, they don't seem to have much to do with each other, but when you really think about them, it's obvious that there's a common thread.
The first story comes from way back in November of 2018, when President Trump complained about an "Obama judge" on the Ninth Circuit ruling against his asylum policy. Trump's comments angered Chief Justice John Roberts (snip) Now for the second (snip) YouTube's decision, about a week ago, to ban all content questioning the efficacy of COVID vaccines.

Our brand, the pride, the image and “es-prit de Corps” we had earned on the world stage since 1945 has been shamefully squandered by the deceitful actions taken in Afghanistan by the Biden Administration.
Generation after generation serving in our Armed Forces have built on the successes of those before them. So much so, that the image and strength of our military is the sum of the contributions of our active-duty personnel and veterans. So, we have skin in the game.

Only a little more than half of the current world's 7 billion people are citizens of fully consensual governments. That lucky 50 percent alone enjoys constitutionally protected freedoms. Most are also Western. Or at least they reside in nations that have become "Westernized." Migrants, regardless of their race, religion or gender, almost always head for a Western nation. And most often their destination remains the United States. CNBC noted that Americans are paying the highest at the pump due to the steady climb the nation has been seeing over the past year.

Wednesday is the highest national average since “at least” October 2014, CNBC reported, but in some instances, states are paying way more.

On Tuesday, I gave a lecture for students at Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts in a course I believe is unique in the nation. It wasn’t so much an art history lecture as an American history lecture, using art—or rather a lecture about what Americans believed about themselves, for better and for worse, as manifest in works of art. I’d like to discuss two of them here—two of them that are now inconceivable, not just because the practical necessities they show are no longer in play, but because the culture they describe, culture as a spiritual reality, embodying the high aspirations of the human soul, is gone.

China’s runaway Korean War blockbuster The Battle of Lake Changjin has continued its epic siege on the country’s cinemas, roaring past the $400 million mark Wednesday, less than a week after its release.
To date, the film has earned $405 million (RMB 2.62 billion), the third biggest total in China this year, trailing only the Lunar New Year hits Hi, Mom ($821 million) and Detective Chinatown 3 ($685 million). Forecasts for The Battle of Lake Changjin‘s career earnings continue to be revised upwards, with Maoyan now projecting an astonishing finish of $812 million. The film should easily hit $500 million sometime this coming weekend, if not sooner.
