Yesterday, there was a school shooting in Texas.
Around 9:15 a.m., police in Arlington, TX, got the first call of shots fired at Timberview High School. When officers responded, they found three people wounded and one injured. A 25-year old victim, identified in various reports as a teacher, was hospitalized in “good” condition. A pregnant teacher twisted her ankle trying to get the hell out of Dodge; she was treated at the scene and released. Another victim (whose age I have not been able to determine) was hospitalized and then released. Finally, a 15-year-old is still in the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect was quickly identified

This has to have set a record for fastest arrest, charge, and release. I saw that one of the victims was described as in "good" condition. That is not a term I would have chosen for someone shot with a 45.

Three counts of aggravated assault? Are you kidding me? This POS should have been treated to a CCW permit holder.

Arlington, Texas now officially another cowardly “woke” police department and city administration tippy-toeing around this young MAN who brought a gun to school, attempted to murder people and is now getting special nice treatment.

As one who has been set upon by bullies like this guy was, all I can say is his marksmanship should have been better. Too many survived.

Soros prosecutor? How do you shoot 4 persons in something that has no chance of being ruled self-defense (he went and got the gun and came back), and you are released? The shooter can't even legally possess the gun he used.
Kyle Rittenhouse got thrown under the jail for an act that is pretty clearly self-defense.

You can tell when posters read the article … or didn’t.
This guy was seriously bullied because he was clean-cut, had decent clothes, a decent car. Lived in a nice house in a nice middle class neighborhood. He was beaten, robbed. You name it. His handling it did not show the best judgement, but in a situation like that, what would you guys do? Probably never been in a situation like that.

#11 - If you think that going out and getting a gun afterwards and coming back and shooting the bully and the teacher is justified, lets just say you are not the person I want on a jury.
Normally I agree with your postings, but I think you are completely off base here. This is in no manner self-defense. He cannot own or possess the handgun he used. He could have simply walked away. Instead, he decided to go get the gun, and indiscriminately start shooting.

If the perp was white, there would be no end of howling about it. Even so, I'm surprised he got out this fast in Texas. He better be wearing a kevlar vest.

Ref #11, yes, he could have walked away after they were done beating him to a pulp for the umpteenth time. Walked away till next time they decide to beat on him for whatever reason they might have. He finally got tired of being these animals' punching bag.
Good for him.

He either end up being a politician or spend his life in jail. You don’t settle complaints with a gun.

One of the "wounded" had an abrasion.
It appears that the self defense claim is getting at least some traction.
I'll still reserve judgement until more is known. Perhaps it is real.
Anti -self defense media are not reliable sources, and the firstvvreports are never accurate.

And you know that the reporter is lying when they say "four shot". This says "teacher and two students", and is still an exaggeration.
Two people were shot and injured by bullets, one intentionally, one by accident. One pregnant woman fell down in the rush, and was fine very quickly. One student had an abrasion, apparently on an arm....claimed from a bullet, may well have been from a bullet but hardly qualifies as "shot". T
As soon as the "news source" is found lying, you can count on there being MORE lies that you haven't yet discovered. This article is less slanted than several that I have read on this.
Bad choice to use a gun for self-defense in this situation? Almost certainly, but perhaps there was a credible threat of death, at least to a teen. I have been beaten up by bullies and the ONLY thing that works is hurting them back. I always was able to do it with my fists, fortunately, after a bit of coaching from my father, who boxed in the service in WW2.
There will be more to this story than we know now, I am sure. I think it's possible that this is a different kind of case than most. Still not convinced either way, but some of the reporting is fraudulent, and that raises red flags for me. He was seriously overmatched physically by the younger "kid". Age and size don't always correlate.
I'm not in school, not of school age, of course, and I'm a better shot, but if I was being beaten like that, I'd use my .45 to protect myself, too.
Old saying, "better judged by 12 than carried by 6". He will be judged by 12 now, and not by us. He might have been killed. A substantial fraction of all murders involve no weapon beyond hands, elbows, knees and feet.

Ordinarily the commenters on this site are perceptive and frequently witty, if not downright droll. However, I am disappointed to read what others have posted in regard to this incident. For bond to have been so low is an indication that he poses little to no risk of flight, and nothing more. Pre-trial detention is not "punishment"
(or it was not so intended until the Biden DOJ decided to exert its evil power against those who oppose it)it is intended to assure that the accused appears for his criminal process. The authorities in Texas are not known for leniency, so there must be more to this than meets the eye. Regardless of this aspect of the story, it does reinforce the conclusion that sending one's child to a public indoctrination/incarceration institution (a/k/a, "school") is a serious error in judgment.

This is a terrible tragedy.
Perfect fodder for the propaganda media to create a NATIONAL REFERENDUM on bullying so they can take the attention off "Let's go Brandon" and his take down of the nation.

This kind of garbage is exactly why any politician who proposes any additional gun control laws should be told to go eat a bag of peckers. Here we have a criminal who attempted mass murder with a firearm and in a mere 24 hours their sweet little oppressed minority is walking free, and they are making excuses for him. They don't need any new laws, because they are not bothering to enforce the current laws.

Keep telling yourself that, #24. I have dealt with more of this scum than you can possibly imagine.
You do not get to claim self-defense after the incident by going out, getting a gun, coming back and spraying bullets indiscriminately. The law is very clear on this, despite the touchy-feely crap being posited by a few here. And even if it was for the dimwit feral that started the fight, how do you justify shooting the teacher? Collateral damage?
What the hell is wrong with you people?
