More Americans have died from COVID-19 during President Biden‘s first nine months in office than during the first nine months of the pandemic under Donald Trump’s presidency, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Despite widely available vaccines and Mr. Biden‘s pledge to handle the coronavirus better than his predecessor after taking office Jan. 20, Johns Hopkins’ Coronavirus Research Center reported that, as of Wednesday afternoon, 353,000 Americans had died this year. That surpassed the 352,000 who died from March 2020, when the pandemic started, to December, when the Food and Drug Administration first gave emergency authorization for vaccines.

President Joe Biden showed he can handle an old-timey toy with aplomb as he played with a yo-yo while giving children of his military aides a tour of Marine One at the White House on Friday afternoon.(Snip)The president, donning a navy blue suit, held hands with a young boy and girl as he crossed the lawn towards the helicopter. He didn't seem to show the youngsters any yo-yo favorites, such as walking the dog and around the world. He did help the little girl, who wore a blue-striped dress and matching bow in her hair, up the steps and onto the helicopter.

Portage, Mich.—Employees at Pfizer’s U.S. based facilities could soon lose their jobs if they aren’t fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and some hourly employees will soon see changes to their pay structure. According to an internal memo obtained by News Channel 3, all U.S.-based employees and contractors must be fully vaccinated against the virus by November 15 unless they have a religious or medical exemption.(Snip)Under previous policy unvaccinated employees had to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.
A Pfizer spokesperson said an overwhelming majority of staff members have already been vaccinated, adding the November 15 deadline doesn’t mean there will be mass firings that day.

A detective who racked up more than $15,000 in unpaid tolls and fees was busted for driving his unregistered vehicle in Brooklyn—and tried to get out of trouble by flashing his NYPD badge, sources said. Det. Yosef Aisaa was stopped in his Land Rover by Bridge and Tunnel officers just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday after he crossed the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge where cops spotted the unregistered vehicle, according to an MTA spokesman. The New York State DMV had stripped the cop of his registration for “persistent toll violations” that totaled $1,348.27 in unpaid tolls and $14,100 in fees, the spokesman said.

North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson is facing calls to resign after he was caught on video calling gay and transgender people 'filth'. Footage, first posted online by advocacy group Right Wing Watch on Wednesday, shows Robinson addressing the congregation at the Asbury Baptist Church in Seagrove back in June. The Republican, who would take over if the state's Democratic Governor Roy Cooper stood down or was impeached, is seen raging that children should not learn about such 'filth' in public schools and using a derogatory phrase for transgender people. 'I'm saying this now, and I've been saying it, and I don't care who likes it:

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, the nation’s first Native American Cabinet official, tearfully described the White House grounds Friday as “the ancestral homelands” of two Native American tribes. During an event with President Biden on the North Lawn of the White House, Ms. Haaland became choked up as she praised the president’s action to restore territory of two sprawling western national monuments that had been reduced in size by then-President Trump. “We are here today on the ancestral homelands of the Anacostan and Piscataway people, bending the arc of the moral universe toward justice,” Ms. Haaland said. She thanked Mr. Biden “for the profound action you’re taking today to permanently

Donald Trump told Fox News on Thursday night that he thought Haitian migrants coming to the US 'will probably have AIDS.' The former president said accepting the asylum-seekers would be a 'death wish' for the US. A record-shattering number of Haitian migrants have come to the US in the last month, and the trend doesn't appear to be stopping as more people continue to pour into the Colombian town of Necocli, a popular spot for smugglers to shepherd people through the perilous Darien Gap.(Snip)'So, we have hundreds of thousands of people flowing in from Haiti. Haiti has a tremendous AIDS problem. AIDS is a step beyond.

It’s highway robbery—and the MTA doesn’t even know the culprit.
The authority is down at least $56 million thanks to “unbillable” tolls for which officials cannot find an address to mail the bill, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli said Thursday. MTA Bridges and Tunnels was unable to send bills for six million crossings through from September 2019 to June 2021—leaving millions of dollars uncollected, the comptroller’s office said in a letter to the MTA following up on three-year-old audit into its cashless tolling.(Snip)In September, the MTA Inspector General flagged a transit employee who bragged to co-workers about eluding tolls with an obscured license plate

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters demands its members’ rights not be violated regarding the COVID-19 vaccine mandates, but the union took public measures to pressure its unvaccinated employees into taking the jab or leaving their jobs. Various labor unions around the country are seeking vaccine mandate exemptions for their own members, but where they stand on their own employees may be different. In the case of the Teamsters, the IBT holds different standards for its unvaccinated employees who work at its Washington, D.C., headquarters than the members it represents. The Teamsters filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint against United Airlines on behalf of its members

New York City officials are phasing out the controversial “Gifted and Talented” program for elementary school students, a massive change aimed at addressing racial disparities in the biggest school system in the country. The entry exam identifying students as “gifted” will be eliminated, officials said Friday. Under the old status quo, about 2,500 incoming kindergarteners per year passed the optional exam, going on to spend their elementary school years in separate classrooms and schools.(Snip)The overhaul of the gifted program comes after years of debate and criticism—much of it focused on the fact that white and Asian students made up around 80% of gifted classes despite representing

U.S. employers added just 194,000 jobs in September, falling short of expectations for the second month in a row. Friday's report from the Labor Department also showed that the unemployment rate fell sharply to 4.8 percent from 5.2 percent in August. Economists surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting the US to add 500,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate to slip to 5.1 percent.(Snip)Goldman Sachs estimates that about 1.5 million people have retired who wouldn't have before the pandemic upended the economy. Many of these people will likely stay retired, economists expect. In the meantime, fear of COVID continues to keep some would-be job seekers on the sidelines,

Setting aside the side effects, including heart inflammation that will cause lifelong problems, and the risk of death, and the strong possibility of lifelong autoimmune disorders, and that the overblown efficacy of the shot wears off quickly, and that children aren't even susceptible to Covid, the shot works great... at putting billions of dollars into Pfizer's pockets.
