The nation’s largest school district can immediately impose a vaccine mandate on its teachers and other workers, after all, a federal appeals panel decided Monday, leading lawyers for teachers to say they’ll ask the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene.
The three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan issued a brief order late in the day that lifted a block of the mandate that a single appeals judge had put in place on Friday.

The number of murders in the United States jumped by nearly 30 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year in the largest single-year increase ever recorded in the country, according to official FBI statistics released Monday.
The data show 21,570 homicides in the U.S. in 2020, which is a staggering 4,901 more than in 2019. The tally makes clear — in concrete terms — just how violent last year was.
The overall violent crime rate, which includes murder, assault, robbery and rape, inched up around 5 percent, while property crimes continued their long-running decline and dropped 8 percent from 2019.

A federal judge has approved the unconditional release of John Hinckley Jr., the man who tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan outside a Washington, D.C., hotel in 1981.
Hinckley, now 66, has been living outside a mental health facility for several years under court-imposed restrictions, including the oversight of his medical care and tracking of his computer passwords. The new agreement will result in his full release from supervision in June 2022.
The Justice Department agreed to a settlement but will monitor Hinckley for nine months to ensure he remains mentally stable, as he will be living on his own for the first time in about 40 years

If there were any doubts that the Democrats are closeted authoritarians who sometimes crack the door and reveal their urge to rule like autocrats, all should have been removed last week when President Joe Biden yapped about federal tax policy.

Like so many others, my family fled brutal repression in favor of America's freedom and prosperity. Conservative Republican policies are by far best-suited to protect that American freedom for generations to come – our values of faith, freedom, and family connect with the broader Hispanic community. Unfortunately, Democrats cannot say the same.
Joe Biden’s failure to understand the needs of our Hispanic communities has been clear since the campaign trail. Hispanics do not need a “leader“ who patronizes us playing “Despacito” at a rally while delivering a speech with empty promises.

The Haitian migrant crisis is another catastrophe in a seri-s of disasters that plagues the beleaguered Harris-Biden administration.There were harrowing images and videos of Haitian migrants wading across the top of a dam over the Rio Grande River to get to Texas. There was also footage of over fifteen thousand migrants crowding in what appeared to be a makeshift migrant camp under the International Bridge in Del Rio, Texas.Whenever a crisis arises, the first instinct of the Democrats is not to resolve the problem. They instead focus on punishing the messenger, blocking the story, and spinning the narrative to distract.

Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper is calling on armed citizens in his county to “blow [35-year-old Patrick McDowell] out the door” if he targets their home.
McDowell is wanted for allegedly shooting Nassau County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Moyers during a traffic stop Friday. The New York Post reports that Moyers is not expected to survive and is being kept alive “until a match can be found for his organs.”
The Florida Times-Union notes that “Moyers was shot in the face, below his right eye, then in the back after collapsing to the ground,” during the traffic stop in the area of Callahan, Florida.
At Sunday night’s Tony Awards, Broadway put on a united front about wearing masks in theaters for the safety of audiences and performers alike.

The Biden Administration finally caught a lot of flak — not only for having thousands of illegal aliens congregating under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, immediately after crossing the border. But they got even more flak for the false story that the Border Patrol whipped migrants trying to enter, while on horseback. Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday announced the House will vote Thursday on President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill, as Democratic leaders race to unify their fractious caucus ahead of a critical week.
Pelosi told her members Sunday night that the vote will now take place Thursday, the same day that a slate of surface transportation programs expire, rather than Monday as originally planned. Debate on the infrastructure legislation will still begin Monday, Pelosi said — the date she and a group of moderates had originally agreed upon in August.
