So many lies are pumped out these days that it is impossible to keep up. They aren’t just the silly, self-aggrandizing exaggerations that used to send the Trump-hating media into paroxysms of outrage during the last administration. They often are matters of life and death that have a profound impact on the future of this country. Lie 1: The southern border is closed.

Two FBI agents briefly visited the North Port, Fla. home of Brian Laundrie on Sunday morning and asked his parents for some of their son's personal items to help with "DNA matching," according to the family's lawyer.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said Sunday that a significant number of Haitian illegal immigrants who had amassed along the U.S.-Mexico border last week are being released into the United States.
About 12,400 out of 17,000 Haitians are having their cases heard by immigration courts, Mayorkas said, adding that about 5,000 are being processed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Only approximately 3,000 are in detention, he said.
“Approximately, I think it’s about ten thousand or so, twelve thousand,” Mayorkas told “Fox News Sunday”

Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) admitted Friday she may lose her House seat before announcing a 2022 reelection campaign.
“With help of gerrymandering, voter suppression, and record breaking fundraising, Republicans have a real shot at making it happen,” Murphy’s fundraising email stated about her chances of losing a seat she has not yet stated she is running to keep.
“With stakes this high, we absolutely cannot take this congressional seat for granted and absolutely cannot afford to fall short of our upcoming end-of-quarter fundraising goal,” she added.

Scientists are working on antiviral pills to treat the Chinese coronavirus, a prospect that could come to fruition “within the next several months.”
Researchers are working on oral antiviral drugs to treat the coronavirus as the Biden administration continues to push vaccines and vaccine booster shots for those eligible. Clinical trials of the drugs are underway, and results are expected in the coming months.
“I think that we will have answers as to what these pills are capable of within the next several months,” Carl Dieffenbach, director of the Division of AIDS at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said, according to NBC News.
A provision added to the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, the Pentagon’s annual budget, has raised some eyebrows among Second Amendment advocates because it would authorize military courts to issue protective orders making the possession or accessing of a firearm by a targeted service member unlawful, at least temporarily.

The House on Friday passed the Women’s Health Protection Act along near party lines, in an effort to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law before the Supreme Court considers a case that could overturn the landmark decision. The bill notes that "transgender men, non-binary individuals, those who identify with a different gender … are unjustly harmed by restrictions on abortion services."
