St. Petersburg, Fla.—The Yankees are dealing with a COVID outbreak on their coaching and support staff, with three confirmed cases. Third base coach Phil Nevin and first base coach Reggie Willits and an unspecified support staff member tested positive, the team announced Tuesday. All three cases are considered “breakthrough positives,” since they had been fully vaccinated. Iconic Facce, formerly known as Jimmy Maurice Lewis II, copped to two counts of robbery for a 2019 theft of BanCorpSouth, a bank in Gulfport, Alabama, and she received two sentences of 15 years each to be served concurrently. The level of waste and fraud in unemployment benefits during the pandemic is staggering, even by Washington’s wasteful standards. The Fourth Circuit federal appeals court on Monday ruled in favor of PILF in its lawsuit against the North Carolina State Board of Elections, vacating a lower court’s decision blocking the inspection of the state’s voter rolls for non-citizen registrations and voting.

The bodies of hundreds of people who died when the coronavirus surged in New York City during the spring are reportedly still in storage in freezer trucks on Brooklyn’s waterfront.
The Wall Street Journal reported about 650 bodies are being stored in the trucks at a disaster morgue that was set up in April on the 39th St. Pier in Sunset Park. Many of those early COVID-19 victims are from families who can’t be located or afford a burial, the city’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner told the Journal.
Yet another elderly Asian was the victim of an attack and robbery this week.
An 80-year-old Asian man, whose identity is still unidentified, went for a walk Saturday afternoon in a residential part of San Leandro when two teens attacked him and shoved him to the ground, demanding his wallet, police said in a press release.
A third teen can be seen in the video, but isn’t involved in the incident. He watches as the other two attempt to snag the victims Fitbit watch away from him.

The criminal hacking group that reportedly goes by the name DarkSide and attacked the largest gasoline pipeline in the United States has now put out an apology of sorts.
The Colonial pipeline, which snakes 5,500 miles along the eastern U.S., transports 2.5 million barrels of gasoline a day, and provides 45 percent of the region’s fuel consumption, was shut down on Friday in response to the hacking.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed a bill Tuesday which will remove the word "permanent" from the state's permanent early voting list (PEVL), a method that was heavily used by voters in the 2020 election. He signed the controversial bill, SB 1485, less than an hour after the Arizona Senate passed it 16-14, along party lines. It also comes as auditors are at work inspecting Maricopa County's 2.1 million 2020 ballots under a Senate-ordered audit.
Arizona joins other Republican-led states that have introduced, passed and signed into law restrictive voting legislation. There are 361 bills in 47 states that introduce restrictive provisions.

The entire Oklahoma City Board of Education denounced a law passed Friday that bans Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public schools, calling it “racist” and an “insult,” numerous sources reported. The number of migrant children being held in federal facilities has more than doubled in the last two months, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.
The more than 21,000 migrant children are being held in a network of roughly 200 facilities across two dozen states, according to confidential government data obtained by the AP. Several of the facilities, which are run by the Department of Health and Human Services, currently house more than 1,000 children.
The children range in age from toddlers to teenagers. HHS spokesman Mark Weber said the department is working to keep children safe and healthy.

Five abandoned girls from Honduras and Guatemala were found on Sunday on the land of a Texas farmer, hungry and crying after being left by their families to try to get into the country alone in another example of the worsening border crisis. While Colonial Pipeline Co. is working out a complex plan to restart operations, CEO Joseph Blount said in a private meeting Monday, they needed to remove the ransomware before resuming shipments, reported Bloomberg News.
