I have some expensive suits that I purchased in the 90's, lightly worn, as casual wear went to the entire week. They are out of fashion, but are nice suits, and could be altered, but that is a lot of effort, and I don't wear them, so I put them in the closet, and don't throw them, because they are expensive suits. I look at those suits every year, then unable to do anything further, close the closet door, and leave them for review again next year.

I’ve been cleaning out my closet and drawers for the past couple weeks. Some things I really like but haven’t worn in years. I’ve got a nice size box for Goodwill. We cleaned out the garage last summer but getting my husband to organize it has been a struggle. Any tips?

As someone who has cleared out the homes of three deceased pack rat relatives, I beg you: "Do it now!" If you haven't used it in two years -> if you no longer entertain on that level -> if you haven't worn it = Yard sale or donation. Seriously. Take a picture of it if it has sentimental associations. You don't have to dust a picture. (Take screen shots of old family photos and email them to relatives - that's always fun BTW.) Don't fall for the Hoarder Fairy on your shoulder whispering "all this needs is..." Yeah, you haven't fixed it yet, set it free. You will be amazed how much more you enjoy "space" than "stuff". Goodwill here has gotten so awful I don't deal with them anymore. All they do is retail, they don't seem to train people to repair things anymore. They rejected a carved mahogany loveseat because the upholstery needed replacing, well yeah. Habitat for Humanity sold it for $200 as is. The Kidney Foundation (Value Village) will actually come pick up stuff. The Salvation Army has a full on program to train people to actually FIX things. Paralyzed Veterans of America needs stuff to sell. Organizations like FODAC here in Georgia, Friends of Disabled Adults and Children need medical equipment: wheelchairs, rails, shower furniture. Fur Kidz sells to raise money for animal shelters. And I haven't even started on churches! Google around in your hometown, and set yourself free. Free to go to thrift shops and buy MORE stuff! Yay!

God does work in mysterious ways. Tim Tebow would agree. And now the devout Christian athlete has shown it again. What a story! And, by the way, brilliant business decision. The 33-year-old Heisman Trophy winner and National Champion QB with the Florida Gators is returning to the National Football League with the bottom-dwelling Jacksonville Jaguars. That team is now coached by – wait for it – Tebow’s former collegiate coach, Urban Meyer, who’s branded success wherever he’s coached. Meyer will attempt to work his winning magic at the pro level with Tebow, at tight end catching passes from

Here’s a contrary thought: The banishment of Donald Trump from the omnipotent octopus of Big Tech’s social media is actually good for his return to presidential politics, if indeed he’s serious about pulling off a Grover Cleveland-style return in 2024. The absence of a steady stream of his angry, indulgent tweets from the online consciousness of most Americans allows that tedious torrent of tumult to drift into the foggy memories of an inattentive nation that grew tired of it, despite Trump’s numerous policy successes. [Snip] More importantly perhaps, the enforced absence of the former president’s mean tweets deprives the CORRECTION*

The first rescue dog entered my life in 1950. He was a St. Bernard living in the cramped city apartment of an elderly lady who was kind but couldn’t care for a giant, even a gentle one like Buddy. Early the first morning of our life together I rushed downstairs in our rural Ohio home to see him. There, on the back porch were strewn the gnawed remains of his new leather harness and leash. [Snip] Toby was found sitting in a dirty puddle, shivering, befuddled. He went to the car willingly. Next day Toby wouldn’t even look at me. He was

Exactly 10 years ago this weekend, the longest, largest manhunt in modern history ended when SEAL Team 6 blasted into a fortified housing compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. In 2017, when Barack Obama left the White House, he had conducted 416 fundraisers in 417 weeks in office. That was an accurate reflection of his political priority — Money. [Snip] That crippled Democrats’ efforts to shape congressional redistricting after the 2010 census and to restore at least some of their ability to enact liberal legislation. Now, 10 years later it’s time for another round of redistricting, and – Oh, my goodness – Democrats have just barely started to recover politically at the local level. This leaves Republicans

House Republicans planted themselves firmly in the camp of Donald Trump on Wednesday when they removed Rep. Liz Cheney from their leadership team after her criticism of the former president. In a closed-door meeting in the basement of the Capitol, Republicans voted to oust Cheney after she repeatedly called out Trump's false claims he won the election and criticized his role in the January 6 insurrection. After a voice vote, Cheney said: ‘I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again, is anywhere near the Oval Office.’ Cheney had addressed Republicans in the room before the vote.
