Two Asian Americans were targeted in hate crimes in the Big Apple over the weekend—a 15-year-old boy who was called “Ching Chong” in Queens and then beaten and a 52-year-old woman who was nearly pushed onto subway tracks in Brooklyn, cops said Sunday. Jordan Burnette, 29, faces 42 charges as he terrorized Riverdale's Jewish community.
The the actions of the Bronx judge has raised eyebrows because Burnette had been due to be released under the state's new bail reform laws. Instead he must now post $30,000 bail. Among the more than 40 charges are a number of hate crime-related offenses after Burnette allegedly smashed windows at various synagogues in the area.
Over the course of 11 days, Burnette allegedly destroyed the doors and windows of local synagogues and poured hand sanitizer over some prayer books.

The two men were burrowed down in a field of tall grass when the vehicle struck them. Oceanside, N.Y.—A driver was arrested Saturday night after fleeing a traffic stop on Long Island and then reversing into a police car, injuring two officers, police said Sunday. GREEN BAY, Wis. — Patrons fled a Wisconsin casino after gunshots broke out Saturday evening, with one witness saying at least two people were shot.
The attack happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Oneida Casino, operated by the Oneida Nation on the western side of Green Bay. Tribe spokeswoman Bobbi Webster said “individuals” had been shot, but she didn’t have information on how many or their conditions.
Attorney General Josh Kaul tweeted shortly before 10 p.m. that the scene “is contained. There is no longer a threat to the community.” He gave no other details and an agency spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to a message.

MAPLEWOOD, N.J. — Olympia Dukakis, the veteran stage and screen actor whose flair for maternal roles helped her win an Oscar as Cher’s mother in the romantic comedy “Moonstruck,” has died. She was 89.
