Last Monday, Chicago-based software firm Basecamp issued a statement that said it was making a number of changes, including a ban on political discussions on its company Basecamp account. "Today's social and political waters are especially choppy. Sensitivities are at 11, and every discussion remotely related to politics, advocacy, or society at large quickly spins away from pleasant," the company said. "You shouldn't have to wonder if staying out of it means you're complicit, or wading into it means you're a target." The changes were touted as a "new etiquette regarding societal politics"

Failed special election Democrat candidate Jana Lynne Sanchez has sounded the alarm that 2022 “could be a major setback” for Democrats if they lose their slim majority in the House of Representatives.
Sanchez, after not receiving enough votes last Saturday to make the special election runoff, has a very strong message for the Democrats.
Sanchez lost by fewer than 400 votes to come in third place. Republican candidates did extremely well, edging out the rest of the field. Sanchez said the Republicans received an overwhelming majority (62 percent) of the total voters.
Sanchez continued to say, “all the things I thought would have motivated Democrats” to come and vote failed.
Bobby Unser, three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and a larger-than-life, colorful character in racing who would talk to anyone anywhere about "the greatest sport in the world," passed away at his home in Albuquerque, N.M., Sunday at the age of 87. Unser was best known in racing for being the first driver to win the Indy 500 in three different decades, 1968, 1975 and 1981. Only four-time-winner Rick Mears has surpassed Unser in number of wins.
Unser is one of just 10 drivers to have won the Greatest Spectacle in Racing more than twice, a list which also includes his brother Al Unser Sr. (1970, 1971, 1978 and 1987).

The special election in Texas’ Sixth Congressional District on Saturday was not caused by a safe incumbent departing Congress to join the new administration.
That dynamic exists in a handful of districts where Democrat incumbents have left to join the Biden administration, and it would be a true shocker for any of those “safe” seats to change parties in the special election.

As we worked our way through the trial of Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd, the voir dire process nearly drew as much attention as the trial itself. WASHINGTON — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Monday that immediately suspends all outstanding local Covid-19 emergency orders and related public health restrictions.
"The fact is, we are no longer in a state of emergency," DeSantis said during a news conference. He acknowledged that Florida was still not done with its fight against the coronavirus but reiterated the nation's decline in Covid-19 cases and deaths.
"I think that's the evidence-based thing to do," DeSantis said, adding that asking vaccinated individuals to continue to wear masks would undermine confidence in the coronavirus vaccines.

Two Texas Republicans will advance to a congressional runoff race following a crowded special election Saturday that had been House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) one opportunity — out of the six congressional special elections taking place this year — to add a seat to Democrats’ extremely slim House majority.
Susan Wright, widow to the late Rep. Ron Wright (R-TX) whose seat the special election was held to fill, received the most votes out of 23 candidates at 19 percent, Decision Desk HQ results showed late Saturday evening.

New York–A Brooklyn woman is facing charges after allegedly attacking an attendant during a flight to John F. Kennedy International Airport from Miami. According to authorities, it happened Sunday midway through the flight. Officials said Chenasia Campbell, a passenger, went to the crew area of the plane and yelled at a flight attendant for not picking up her garbage.
