Two months ago, on June 18th, current Democrat vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris told “The Late Show” show Stephen Colbert that the then-just-emerging Black Lives Matter riots — or what she’d termed “protests” — “are not going to stop.”
“They’re not going to stop. This is a movement,” she emphatically declared.
“They’re not going to stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. Everyone should take note of that on both levels, that they’re not going to let up, and they should not, and we should not.”

Non-fatal police shooting “victim” Jacob Blake of Kenosha, Wisconsin, may not be as innocent of a so-called “victim” as the media have portrayed him to be. In fact, according to his police records, he’s an alleged sexual assaulter. The evidence is contained in charges that were filed against Blake on July 6, 2020, and subsequently obtained and published by the Daily Mail this Friday.
According to the complaint, on May 3rd, Blake entered the home of his ex-girlfriend, identified as “LNB,” and proceeded to sexually assault her.Speaking with the authorities after the alleged assault, LNB claimed that “at about 6AM she was woken up by the father of her children,

A federal judge ruled Friday that Texas violated federal law by not allowing residents to register to vote when they renewed their driver’s license online, despite state officials’ push to preserve the requirement of paper registrations. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia concluded the state’s restriction was “breaking the National Voter Registration Act, which mandates that states must allow residents to register to vote when applying for or renewing their driver’s licenses,” according to the Hill. The report continued:

Obama spoke with James, National Basketball Players Association president Chris Paul, and other players in a conference call late on Wednesday night, after all NBA games were cancelled due to the boycott, the Athletic reported, citing sources. In most cases, prediction in politics is a mug’s game. Maybe that is why it is such a popular game. I forbear to speculate. (Snip)Many commentators (including myself) have dilated on the striking difference in tone between the two conventions: according to the Democrats, America is steeped in ‘systemic racism’ and the ideology of ‘white supremacism’. The Dems invite us to wallow in rancorous resentment, feeling good by feeling bad, while the Republicans celebrated the ‘better angels of our nature’ (Lincoln again), embracing life, prosperity, second-chances, and forgiveness.

An Iowa judge's ruling invalidating 50,000 requests for absentee ballots because an election official pre-filled voters' personal information has handed President Trump’s campaign an early win in its fight against expanded mail-in balloting.
Judge Ian Thornhill this week ruled Linn County Auditor Joel Miller, a Democrat, overstepped his bounds by pre-entering personal information in the ballots mailed out to county voters.
Miller has been ordered to void the original ballot requests and inform voters in writing they must process new absentee ballots or show up to the polls to vote in person.

With their boycott of games earlier this week to protest the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, athletes in the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball have crossed a bridge that they may find difficult to return from. Though professional athletes have become increasingly politicized since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began his “Star Spangled Banner” protests in 2016, the widespread cancellation of games, including NBA playoff contests, is unprecedented.
The walkout in support of Blake, who was wanted on a sexual-assault charge and whose own girlfriend called the cops on him, hardly represents the kind of compelling case against police brutality

An adorable little tugboat as long as a Ford F-150 is making the rounds on social media, prompting many to call it the “smallest ship in the U.S. Navy.”
At just 19 feet long, the boat is actually “Boomin Beaver” security tug. Originally built to herd logs in waterways, the Navy boat is now an all-purpose vessel that can tow small ships and deploy floating security fences, ensuring that larger submarines, destroyers, and even aircraft carriers don’t receive unwanted visitors. The tug first popped up on Reddit earlier this week. Chuck's Boat and Drive in Longview, Washington built these boats for loggers, and at some point, the U.S. Navy purchased

President Donald Trump has said federal agents have quelled tensions in Kenosha, and suggested that their deployment could also ease unrest in Portland.
The Wisconsin city became the latest flashpoint in protests over police brutality and racism following the police shooting of Jacob Blake in front of his three children on Sunday, with widespread looting and arson taking place.
While an initial offer of federal help was rejected, Democratic governor Tony Evers accepted the assistance following the shooting deaths of two protesters. Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, has been charged with their murders.

I am a member of a community of Catholics that has thought for months on whether to reopen our diocese schools this fall. As with any decision that relates to health and safety during the pandemic, it was not an easy one.
But in the end, the diocese chose the path that was true to its purpose: The church exists to serve the community and minister to its needs. We do this in many ways. We operate institutions of healing — there are roughly 600 church-sponsored hospitals nationwide and 1,400 long-term care facilities. And during this pandemic, they have sought to save lives.
We also operate 7,500 schools for 2.3 million students.

Even today, we often hear there are no real differences between the two parties. They’re like Tweedledum and Tweedledee, we’re told. But hearing President Donald Trump’s lengthy, and detailed, acceptance speech Thursday night, we must agree: Never in modern history has there been a greater gap between the two major parties.
“Despite all of our greatness as a nation, everything we have achieved is now endangered. This is the most important election in the history of our country. At no time before have voters faced a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies, or two agendas,” Trump told

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore offered a dire warning to Democrats after the conclusion of the Republican Convention, telling the "Resistance" that the level of voter excitement for President Trump far exceeds that for Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
"Sorry to have to provide the reality check again, but when CNN polled registered voters in August in just the swing states, Biden and Trump were in a virtual tie. In Minnesota, it’s 47-47. In Michigan, where Biden had a big lead, Trump has closed the gap to 4 points," Moore began a Facebook post on Friday.
"Are you ready for a Trump victory? Are you mentally prepared to be outsmarted by Trump again?

A number of Democrat mayors from Minnesota endorsed President Donald Trump for a second term on Friday as Vice President Mike Pence campaigns in the state.
"Like many in our region, we have voted for Democrats over many decades. We have watched as our constituents' jobs left not only the Iron Range, but our country. By putting tariffs on our products and supporting bad trade deals, politicians like Joe Biden did nothing to help the working class. We lost thousands of jobs, and generations of young people have left the Iron Range in order to provide for their families with good-paying jobs elsewhere.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the mob, each in their own way, last week increased the risk that we will face a fairly grave constitutional moment.
Mrs. Pelosi, in an unscripted moment, with her usual charm, identified the president and his allies in Congress (one can only assume she meant all the congressional Republicans) as domestic enemies of the United States. For her part, Mrs. Clinton publicly advised Democratic presidential candidate Jose[h R. Biden not to concede the election under any circumstances. The mob attacked a U.S. senator in the street.
In ordinary times, these comments and actions

‘Fools rush in.” Three centuries after they were written, those words ring as true as ever. And nowhere are they as relevant at present as in the case of Kenosha, Wis.
On Sunday, a black man named Jacob Blake was shot seven times by a police officer in Kenosha after Blake refused to comply with his orders. The details of what happened remain murky. We know that the cops were called in response to a complaint by a woman who claimed that Blake had taken her keys; we know that there was a warrant out for Blake that cited sexual assault, trespassing, and disorderly conduct;

Over the past week, Washington, DC has turned into a truly dystopian nightmare. Diners at several area restaurants, including the famous Martin’s Tavern in Georgetown, were accosted by a Black Lives Matter mob that bullied them into raising their fists in solidarity with the movement. Restaurant patrons who refused to comply faced further verbal abuse and harassment. The trend continued outside the White House on Thursday night. Attendees of President Trump’s acceptance speech during the Republican National Convention were thrown to the wolves as they left the event, and were chased and screamed at as they made their way back to their hotels.

A Chinese military-linked researcher was caught by U.S. authorities at the airport attempting to flee to China with highly advanced computer code he stole from a U.S. university that could be used for underwater robots and aircraft engines, according to the FBI.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped Hu Haizhou, a researcher from the University of Virginia’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering discovered to also work for a Chinese military-linked university too, before he could board a flight to Qingdao, China, from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday, said an FBI special agent in an 11-page affidavit filed on Friday in federal court in Virginia.

In the past months of demonstrations for Black lives, there has been a lot of hand-wringing about looting. Whether it was New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo saying that stealing purses and sneakers from high-end stores in Manhattan was "inexcusable," or St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter saying looters were "destroy[ing] our community," police officers, government officials and pundits alike have bemoaned the property damage and demanded an end to the riots. And just this week, rioters have burned buildings and looted stores in Kenosha, Wis., following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, to which Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson has said:

The father of the man killed inside Seattle’s CHAZ/CHOP zone has sued the City of Seattle, King County, and the State of Washington for $3 billion. In the suit, the father’s attorneys claim that actions and inactions by local government authorities led to a hazardous and lawless situation that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Horace Lorenzo Anderson, who went by Lorenzo.
According to KING 5 News, attorneys for Lorenzo’s father, Horace Anderson, released a statement:
“It is important to hold our government leaders accountable so this will not happen again,” said Attorney Evan Oshan in a prepared statement.

The cops involved in the shooting of Jacob Blake — which touched off a fresh wave of angry, anti-police sentiment across the country — were attempting to arrest him for violating a restraining order stemming from an alleged sexual assault, The Post has learned.
Blake, 29, was forbidden from going to the Kenosha home of his alleged victim from the May 3 incident, and police were dispatched Sunday following a 911 call saying he was there.
The responding officers were aware he had an open warrant for felony sexual assault,

Biden’s race-centered strategy is very clear; the depth of its Machiavellian quality is less so. There was no subtlety in Biden’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention last week. It immediately established race as its theme and rarely diverted. In doing so, Biden’s acceptance speech revealed the nuance of the strategy he intends to pursue to the White House.
Just over a year ago, Democrats were beginning their grueling debate marathon. So crowded was their field, they had to split their debates. By chance, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden shared the stage on June 27. Biden was already stumbling and vulnerable,

Andrew Sullivan’s take on the danger posed to Dems by chaos in the streets is worth a read. I don’t agree with all of it but Sullivan seems to be making a genuine attempt to not be guided by talking points from either side of the aisle and it’s interesting to watch even if it’s not a completely successful effort. Frankly, some of what he says seems to at least partly contradict other things he’s saying but I guess that’s what happens sometimes when you’re reacting honestly and not just picking sides. Mostly what comes through is his disgust

A whopping 9.2 million people tuned in to Fox News from 10 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. ET Thursday to watch President Trump accept his party's renomination for president to close the Republican National Convention.
By contrast, no other network garnered more than 2.6 million viewers. More people tuned into Fox News Thursday night than did CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS combined. The viewing figures more than double the combined viewership of the two liberal cable news networks, with CNN averaging 2.2 million viewers and MSNBC pulling in 1.9 million viewers.

A young New Jersey woman has been slapped with a $2,500 fine for police overtime costs after she set up a “small, peaceful Black Lives Matter protest” at the end of July, according to a report.
Emily Gil, 18, who graduated in June from Bergen County Technical School, failed to properly warn authorities in advance about the event, NJ.com reported.
Gil believed that a shortage of affordable housing options in her neighborhood was a racial issue that should be brought to the public’s attention through a 30- to 40-person protest, according to NJ.com.

Blaze TV founder and conservative talk radio host Glenn Beck posted a stunningly honest apology to fans and to President Donald Trump for his opposition to a candidate he initially believed had no shot at the White House and was wrong for the country.
“I am feeling so humbled this week. I feel truly horrible for the things I said and believed in 2016 about @realDonaldTrump. I believed the worst politically, which he proved me wrong at almost every turn. In the most dramatic cases (life/Israel/China/authoritarian),” Beck said to open a lengthy Twitter thread.
“I expected @realDonaldTrump to take control federally at the first opportunity. Here we are in a massive crisis.

President Trump just formally accepted the nomination of his party for president. While the polls indicate that he is far behind his opponent, Trump, the businessperson turned politician, has a strategy that he believes will carry him to victory in November. He implemented this four-month strategy on July 4th. Step one was just completed.
His original plan had to be modified because of the longer-term effect of the Coronavirus. The six-week shut down of the US economy from Mid-March to the end of April has caused more harm to the economy than was anticipated when his strategy was originally formulated.

According to journalist Andy Ngo, who’s been on the ground in Portland, Oregon throughout the past three months of left-wing rioting, Thursday evening marked “the first time in 93 days” that downtown Portland didn’t succumb to rioting.
In a tweet posted early Friday morning, he speculated that the silence may be a result of reports that the FBI’s Portland branch has begun actively investigating the Black Lives Matter and Antifa extremists responsible for the rioting.
