OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City police investigated this week after a large, vulgar sign targeting Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan was displayed on the Ocean City Boardwalk. (Tweet) Photos show the sign with profanity and hateful messages directed toward the governor. Ocean City police said in a post that they are "aware of the large sign being displayed on the boardwalk regarding Governor Hogan. The City Solicitor and the Worcester County States Attorneys Office have been consulted. Unfortunately, the sign (including the profanity) is freedom of speech. We share your frustrations with this and are as disappointed as you are. We

let's not get carried with this "freedom of speech" thing. there are limits to speech which surpass the boundaries of good conduct and proper civil discourse. the democrats have pushed these freedoms to the limit of civility and have promoted this kind of rhetoric to establish some kind of argument that our President is not a proper 1.) human being and 2.) not fit to be President. the age of slander as a mechanism for dialogue is upon us and it's only going to get worse. thank you, democrat, past Supreme Court justices, for nothing.

Keep in mind that the boardwalk in Ocean City is one of the world’s biggest freak shows. I used to have an annual business gig there every June and one year, on a lunch break I was out on the boardwalk and got caught between 2 gangs of feral blacks who were about to start in on each other. I’m here today, unhurt, because there were police in the immediate area who broke it up before it got bad.

The governor is an anti-Trump guy who calls himself a Repub....doesn't make me very interested in what happens to him, good or bad.

For those who don’t know, the sign is just another bratty attempt to outrage average people by using sex talk characteristic of a mid-adolescent level of sophistication. The sign in the picture offered Gov. Hogan a Lewinsky with one of their males. If the message is any measure I’d put it’s creators at about 16.

#5 it included the sometimes nickname for Richard and also one of the worst of the 7 words that at one time were never uttered in public. Hiding behind Freedom of Speech is absurd.

Hogan is a never Trumper which is how he became the governor. If he were a REAL Republican, his chance of gaining any political position in the Peoples Republic of Maryland would be slim to none and slim left town. Way too many people in Maryland rely on either a government job, or government handouts.

Since "Democrat" wasn't mentioned in the first few sentences of the article or the headline, I'm pretty sure the fine, sweet, governor is a ... democrat.

The issue is not whether profanity is good or bad speech. The issue is whether we want the state empowered to police it. I do not. George Carlin's seven dirty words were not to be said on television because the government regulated public speech on television networks. Was that a good thing? In some ways: it was a better, more respectful culture. But I do not want the government deciding what citizens can say, particularly when it comes to criticism of public officials. Who decides? Which bureaucrats will we cede that responsibility to?
This site has shown that it is perfectly possible to direct the discourse into civility. I prefer it. But lucianne.com is a private site, and we are all voluntary participants. In 20 years, I've only been Taste Policed once. (For the record, they were right. However, I still think it was a funny comment, and it was worth it.)
