NORTH LIMA, Ohio — Ron Spickler is sitting on the front porch of his modest Mahoning County brick home eating dinner and watching the world drive by the busy little state routes that intersect and pass his front door. (Snip) Spickler was a lifetime Democrat. He voted for Barack Obama, then switched to Donald Trump in 2016. He cannot wait to show up to vote for him in November and is quick to note the divide in this country. He hopes whoever wins will try to repair it. Five miles due north at the Mahoning County Republican headquarters on Market Street

I always enjoy Ms. Zito's columns. Mr. Spickler wants a President that will unify the country. Glad that he supports Donald Trump for this election cycle but if he wants someone to unify the country after Mr. Trump completes his second term he should realize that Democrats stock in trade has always been to keep us divided. THEY are the ones pushing fear and hate; they are an angry bunch, for sure. They should not be allowed the reins of power for a very, very long period of time, if ever.

The commies always dreamed of a Dictatorship of the Proletariat.
They just didn't envision that the 'Proletariat' would consist of
conservative Republicans.

The globalists want to be the gods in the new world order. Trump is destroying that. That is also why Romney and other RINOS want Trump out. Romney was part of that Ukraine deal and others that Biden and son and brother were involved in. They thought HC would be a shoe in and no one would ever know. That is why many repubs are not really supporting Trump. They want power and no history of supporting Trump is he loses and the New World Order continues.

I know that little town well, have spent time there and driven through many times.
Part of the problem in that area and particularly in that county as well as the two to the north and south on the Ohio side and the two on the Pennsyltucky side, get into long standing issues. That county, Mahoning, has been ruled for generations by the unholy triad of the Democrap Party, the AFL-CIO and Teamsters, and The Mob. With The Mob understood to comprise not just the various factions of the Sicilian and Italian gangs out of Chicago, Pittsburgh, Rochester, etc., but also the Russian "bratvas", a few from LA Corse, and others. I have encountered several of them.
Fraud and chicanery are rampant and considered to be normal. When a Congresscritter (Traficant) got sent to prison for some felonious behavior, they were circulating petitions to put the bum back in Congress even before his release! Sounds like Chicago, Newark, Philadelphia, etc. doesn't it?
Unless and until the citizens demand honesty and fidelity to the law and to the culture we were given, momentarily flocking to a candidate will only briefly slow the circling in the drain. Sadly.

While #5 makes valid points, I was at an event (tractor pull, of all thing) in Mahoning County last Saturday. What I can say, undoubtedly, from the crowd I saw, is that they were Trump people. No question. I don't know how far that sentiment extends but it was certainly true there.

"Is a politician like Joe Biden who voted for NAFTA, been in government for nearly 50 years, eight as Vice-President, while never changing a word of NAFTA, going to be able to make this argument effectively and believably?"
The problem for Joe is not only is he running against his own failed record, he completely lacks the capability to make ANY arguments about ANYTHING. When challenged, Joe gets blustery with his trademark, "Come on, man!", but never answers the question. With Trump pressing him hard, he just isn't going to get away with that.
In these working communities there is also a pride in America and a distrust of Socialism. Joe's new buddies on the Left are going to make these people nervous. The person being interviewed has "never seen anything like this" about the energy and enthusiasm and is blown away by the boots on the ground organization. The media is deliberately ignoring this important superiority in grassroots actions that they cheered BO for in 2008 that helped him to win. Trump won in 2016 and his vast success, excitement, and organization are superior to then. Joe is just planning to come out of his basement and when he does it is VERY likely he will see his own shadow and will go back for 6 more weeks of zooming. Trump is going to CRUSH him.

Biden's message (whatever it is) does not resonate in this once-Democrat stronghold. I believe Ohio will swing to Trump by an even bigger margin than 2016.
