A whopping 9.2 million people tuned in to Fox News from 10 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. ET Thursday to watch President Trump accept his party's renomination for president to close the Republican National Convention. By contrast, no other network garnered more than 2.6 million viewers. More people tuned into Fox News Thursday night than did CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS combined. The viewing figures more than double the combined viewership of the two liberal cable news networks, with CNN averaging 2.2 million viewers and MSNBC pulling in 1.9 million viewers.

Wow! I didn’t see in article what the DNC convention numbers were like... but the following from the article : “The massive audence heard Trump claim on the South Lawn of the White House that that “Joe Biden is not the savior of America’s soul – he is the destroyer of America’s jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness.”

CSPAN isn't included in the ratings numbers because the purpose of the ratings is to determine the advertising rates, and CSPAN doesn't accept advertising.

You would have been better off watching the convention on CNN, you would have seen more of it. Fox cut away more than any of them because of course we just had to see Hannity interview Carl Rove. Fox didn’t even show the great opera singer singing from the White House balcony. What a waste.

The quality of video is usually better on Fox news, but they can't be trusted not to cut away and interject their own delirium. I watched OANN. At least they stay on target.

To Number 3 CSPAN has never been counted in Neilson ratings but here is another fact neither is OAN which now has a huge conservative audience covers the republican campaign stops without interruption. So these numbers are essentially worthless, not to mention the live streaming that was available on the web.

I started with Fox on Monday, but when they felt the need to keep cutting away to comment or editorialize I realized I was not getting to hear some of the the convention speakers. Switched to C-span and remained there for the remainder of the convention. Sometimes Hannity is just too full of himself.

I watched CNN the first night just to see how they would handle it. They had 4 talking heads who had not one word of praise for anything anyone said. Jake Tapper even said, "We have to wait to see what the fact-checkers have to say." Point is, why would anyone want to watch that negative way of watching the convention. The convention was uplifting and the final night was awesome. I switched to C-Span for the rest of the week.

I agree with several others. Started on Fox, but switched to CSPAN after the numerous 'cutaways' on Fox to their talking heads; and even once cutting away to a Joe Biden ad during one of the speakers' time. I'll bet the excellent Fox ratings would have been much better without the comments from their hired hands. Particularly Chris Wallace and Juan Williams in their daily auditions for CNN jobs is especially annoying.

You can bet that a huge number of people also watched the Convention via the video on YouTube and other streaming channels and services to get away from the Fox talking heads who constantly butt in, talk over, and interrupt what is going on, at the convention venue and other recent events and expert guests, to try to show how smart they think they are, and increasingly if they are Democrats, to put a Democrat favoring filter, or take, on the event.

Apologies. Unfinished. Imagine the numbers if CSPAN had been included in the total tabulation of viewers. Trump was great, Melania predictably stunning, those in attendance enthused and Ivanka’s introduction of her Father was gracious, charming, prideful and very loving. Beautiful family. The fireworks were outstanding but the opera singer left me with mixed feelings. Beautiful and powerful voice but took the evening just a little too far over the top for my taste. Otherwise........SPECTACULAR evening. Mission accomplished!

The left aligned Drudge Report was trying to claim, in it;s main masthead, that Trumps audience was down 25% from 2016's event, but lower than Biden this year. I would assume he is quoting the same sources as the fake polls showing Biden ahead by double digits.

We watched on RSBN (Right Side Broadcasting Network on Youtube). They are true conservatives without the dour anti-Trump panelists of Donna Brazile, Juan Williams, Dana Perino or Chris Wallace. No commentary during the RNC and no cutting off the speeches. RSBN also has been showing all the Trump rallies from beginning to end.

In the past, conventions had time gaps between speakers. Networks did commentary during these gaps. FOX and all the networks were still geared to this format. The rapid succession of speakers made commentators unnecessary. The media didn't adjust to the new format. So they cut in. Viewers wanted to hear the speakers, not the high-paid, self-important "experts." Viewers also didn't want to be distracted the idiotic banners and boxes that ran below and along side the speakers Because of this, many, including me, switched to C-Span, streaming, or another source. I bet those numbers were far greater than imagined

Start with Lou Dobbs, then over to Tucker. Only watch Hannity when Hannity is not on and switch over to Spicer & Co (Newsmax) when he is. We are getting way too much of Raymond Arroyo on Laura lately which, I find tiresome...Laura is fading fast, the news is old news by the time it gets to her, same with Hannity. His ratings are only what they are because of the lead in from Tucker and sandwiched between Laura.

I was exasperated by Fox on the first night with them deciding who I could hear while the talking heads gave me their bits of wisdom. No thanks. I went to CSPAN. The regular people whose names were not well known were the most inspiring of all. Yes, some of the leaders were good but the moving, first hand stories from regular people were the best.

Like a lot of people I preferred the unfiltered version on C-SPAN. I did turn back after the President's speech just to see how the FNC panel reacted. The real revelation came when I was watching the magnificent "Nessun Dorma" aria from "Turandot" and the ever misinformed Chris Wallace came on to tell everyone it was from "LaBoheme". It was clear from that statement that he knows nothing about most of what he opines about and is just a teleprompter reader of other people's words. Nobody even pointed out the the aria ends with: Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

Out here in 'Flyover Country' we are getting our television from ROKU.... About 3 months ago CoxCable practiced their pricing escalado one time too many....We were getting pushed to the area of $190. to $200. per month for Internet and CableTV.... We cut the cable...Took a couple of weeks to figure it out as to news and current happenings. Internet/ with streaming works pretty well. Do not have to watch FOX, anything, as it is sliding into the alphabet networking abyss, and having to pay for their 'talking head' crapola. Sort of the scenario of the Maschochist looking for a beating. Done with that....Watched the White House RNC Event in full, on First TV, Right after Bill O'Rielly's Show. The finalle and its Fireworks were incredibul, and the Operatic singing of Christopher Macchio was stunning! see link @

Didn't even remember about C-Span until one of my kids told me to watch the convention there. Don't know why Fox News thought it so important to cut away from the speakers so Hannity could interview people who were 'interpreting' what we had just heard or were about to hear. Stupid decision.

I too switched to C-Span specifically because of Hannity. Glad to know I'm not the only one tiring of him. He has become more and more obnoxious and will not let his guests answer questions that HE asks them. It seems his show has become an hour long rant, and if I hear him humble-brag about his mixed martial arts training one more time my head is going to explode. Hey Hannity, nobody cares about your tough-guy talk. You're starting to sound like Plugs Biden. Give it a rest; stop talking about yourself so much. It's not about you.

We watched CSPAN all four nights. It was the best. No BS comments just the convention. I did switch around the dial a few times to see if other stations were carrying particularly "provocative" presenters and true to form they were not. Some of the greatest speeches were not carried by the other stations. It was the everyday people who were just extraordinary. And it started with that twenty something, Charlie Kirk. He set the barre on night one and all the others followed in spectacular fashion. FOX is becoming unwatchable. I love Hannity as a person and as a success, but his show is becoming tedious and he is getting way too full of himself. The FOX panel after the President's speech was predictable. It was Brit Hume that embarrassed himself with his incorrect announcement that the aria was from LaBoheme instead of Turandot. Chris Wallace embarrasses himself every time he opens his mouth regardless what he says.

I had C Span on from the git go. There was no break in the action. They had a good cross section of callers after the speeches were concluded each night. I briefly switched to Fox Thursday, only to see Chris Wallace trashing the President's speech, which lasted less than 5 seconds before going back to C Span. Wallace is bad enough, but with losers Brazile and Williams waiting in the wings to spew most likely similar bilge, why continue?

Oakland- The air in Northern California was thick and yellow in November 2018. The hills were wrapped not in salty fog, but a thin layer of ashes, some of which were doubtlessly human remains. The Paradise Fire raged for over two weeks, burning through 150,000 acres and consuming 85 souls. The air quality officially became ‘dangerous’. Not to sound like a whiny Californian, but under such conditions you become aware of taking a breath. Once it happens, life becomes oppressive. The Democratic Party’s leadership and the Biden presidential campaign have once again underestimated the President and his reelection team. They assumed that, deprived of his trademark stadium rallies by coronavirus concerns, Trump would be unable to connect with the electorate and consequently fail to overcome the former Vice President’s purported lead. But a Republican National Convention whose tone was so much more positive and technically professional than its querulous and clumsy DNC counterpart, combined with Trump’s eminently presidential acceptance speech, is already eroding Biden’s poll numbers.

Anybody remember years ago when the 7-Up people marketed their clear cola as the “un-cola”? Well this week we got the GOP “Un-Convention,” a format that was not really a convention, but which showed, in contrast to the Democrats’ Zoom-a-Thon last week, that the supposed advantage of having Hollywood talent on your side doesn’t actually count for much. And how nice of all those “spontaneous” and “mostly peaceful” pro-Trump rallies (otherwise known as “riots” and “looting”) to provide a backdrop for the GOP message.

I’m not an election prognosticator. I have no magic insight telling me what will happen on November 3, 2020. Frankly, I have zero idea. But what I do have is a great memory and some polling data that suggests Joe Biden’s media-assisted campaign is headed for an eerily similar crash landing to the one that happened in 2016. The media has once again sealed itself in a suffocating bubble, within which the impossible Trump victory can’t happen. The Democrats find themselves strapped to a low-energy candidate who is a bystander as social upheaval scorches battleground states. It has the look and feel of fall 2016. Democrats, start panicking now.

In 2016, the Vatican was pulling for Hillary Clinton. Just days before the presidential election, Pope Francis renewed his criticism of politicians who speak about erecting “walls.” This led Slate and other publications to run such headlines as “It Sure Sounds Like Pope Francis Doesn’t Think Americans Should Vote for Trump.” Several Francis-friendly prelates ran interference for Hillary Clinton. San Jose’s bishop, Patrick McGrath, wrote a letter to his flock in which he said that Donald Trump’s complaint of a rigged system “borders on the seditious.” According to the Italian press, many of Pope Francis’s aides viewed Trump’s victory as a “bitter defeat.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the mob, each in their own way, last week increased the risk that we will face a fairly grave constitutional moment. Mrs. Pelosi, in an unscripted moment, with her usual charm, identified the president and his allies in Congress (one can only assume she meant all the congressional Republicans) as domestic enemies of the United States. For her part, Mrs. Clinton publicly advised Democratic presidential candidate Jose[h R. Biden not to concede the election under any circumstances. The mob attacked a U.S. senator in the street. Biden’s race-centered strategy is very clear; the depth of its Machiavellian quality is less so. There was no subtlety in Biden’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention last week. It immediately established race as its theme and rarely diverted. In doing so, Biden’s acceptance speech revealed the nuance of the strategy he intends to pursue to the White House. Just over a year ago, Democrats were beginning their grueling debate marathon. So crowded was their field, they had to split their debates. By chance, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden shared the stage on June 27. Biden was already stumbling and vulnerable,

So get this straight--based on the recommendation of doctors Fauci and Birx the US shut down the entire economy based on 9,000 American deaths to the China coronavirus.(Snip)But the Imperial College model Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx pushed was garbage and they recommended the destruction of the US economy using this model.(Snip)The CDC silently updated their numbers this week to show that only 6% of all coronavirus deaths were related to the coronavirus alone. The rest of the deaths pinned to the China coronavirus are attributed to individuals who had other serious issues going on. Also, most of the deaths are related to very old Americans.

More active-duty U.S. troops say they’ll vote for former Vice President Joseph R. Biden than President Trump in the November election, a new poll shows, continuing a steady decline in the commander in chief’s favorability ratings among service members. A Military Times survey released Monday found that if the election were held today, 41% of active-duty troops say they’d vote for Mr. Biden, compared to just 37% for the president. Another 13% said they intend to back a third-party candidate, while 9% said they’d skip the presidential election altogether. The Military Times surveyed 1,018 active-duty troops for the poll.

Rep. Ken Buck, R-Calif., and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, made weekend appeals for DOJ to take action to cut off funding and logistical support for the groups of rioters that have terrorized and destroyed American cities for months.

During Sunday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” host Tiffany Cross criticized the Republican National Convention for its diverse presentation of speakers throughout the week. She dismissed the display as being reflective of the Republican Party and President Donald Trump. Instead, Cross urged viewers not to be “fooled” by Republicans and said the “slew of black speakers” looked like a “modern-day minstrel show.”“If you watched the Republican convention last week, you would almost think the Republican Party is the one welcoming people of color given the big display of diversity,”

Fox News contributor Guy Benson on Saturday posted a letter allegedly given to a friend’s neighbor because they “have a Trump sign in their yard.” “Thank you for proudly and prominently displaying your signs of political support! These symbols make it impossible for us to ignore how you truly feel about us as your neighbors,” said the handwritten note, which was signed “your neighbors who dare to be different.” (Tweet) The letter continued, “They make abundantly clear to those of us who are women, people of color, immigrants and those who may worship or love differently than you that you simply do not care about us at all.”

The summer of 2020 has been a summer defined by agitation. What started in Minnesota following the police killing of George Floyd spread quickly across the nation. This past week, Kenosha, Wisconsin, became the latest flashpoint, as protesters clashed with police and armed vigilantes over the police shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake. One of those vigilantes has been charged with killing two protesters and injuring another. But another Midwestern city — my city — was the center of attention three weeks ago. In the early hours of Aug. 10

Trump is deliberately killing people,” Murphy wrote on Twitter. “He holds rallies where people get infected. On Thursday, no social distancing or masks, sending a clear message that the CDC should be ignored.” “His plan is to kill people. Let's just say it,” Murphy continued.   Correction*

On the ninety-third night of violent antifa riots in Portland, a group of protesters occupied the lobby of Mayor Ted Wheeler’s (D-Portland) apartment building as a mob held a block party outside and activists shined strobe lights into Wheeler’s window. The mob demanded the complete abolition of the police by 2022. Meanwhile, a group of rioters set fire to the Portland Police Association building, targeting the police union for what appears to have been the fourth time since the police killing of George Floyd. This unrest came the day after Wheeler sent a letter to President Donald Trump, declining his offer to send federal officers. Protesters entered the lobby

A federal appeals court ruled Monday against Michael Flynn and the Justice Department in their request to quickly shut down his criminal case. The 8-2 decision restores power to a judge to question the Justice Department's moves in the politically divisive case, when Attorney General William Barr dropped charges against President Donald Trump's former national security adviser earlier this year despite twice pleading guilty to lying under oath to lying to the FBI. Flynn had fought District Judge Emmet Sullivan's decision to ask a third-party lawyer to argue against the Justice Department's dismissal in the case, and his plans to hold a hearing, which has not yet happened.
