A whopping 9.2 million people tuned in to Fox News from 10 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. ET Thursday to watch President Trump accept his party's renomination for president to close the Republican National Convention.
By contrast, no other network garnered more than 2.6 million viewers. More people tuned into Fox News Thursday night than did CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS combined. The viewing figures more than double the combined viewership of the two liberal cable news networks, with CNN averaging 2.2 million viewers and MSNBC pulling in 1.9 million viewers.

Wow! I didn’t see in article what the DNC convention numbers were like... but the following from the article :
“The massive audence heard Trump claim on the South Lawn of the White House that that “Joe Biden is not the savior of America’s soul – he is the destroyer of America’s jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness.”

CSPAN isn't included in the ratings numbers because the purpose of the ratings is to determine the advertising rates, and CSPAN doesn't accept advertising.

You would have been better off watching the convention on CNN, you would have seen more of it. Fox cut away more than any of them because of course we just had to see Hannity interview Carl Rove. Fox didn’t even show the great opera singer singing from the White House balcony. What a waste.

The quality of video is usually better on Fox news, but they can't be trusted not to cut away and interject their own delirium. I watched OANN. At least they stay on target.

Ditto Reply 5. Convention night 2 I switched from FOX to C-Span so I could hear the convention speakers instead of Look-at-me Hannity, and Witless Juan Williams etc.and stayed with C-Span the last 2 nights. Wonder how many watched on C-Span

To Number 3 CSPAN has never been counted in Neilson ratings but here is another fact neither is OAN which now has a huge conservative audience covers the republican campaign stops without interruption. So these numbers are essentially worthless, not to mention the live streaming that was available on the web.

I started with Fox on Monday, but when they felt the need to keep cutting away to comment or editorialize I realized I was not getting to hear some of the the convention speakers. Switched to C-span and remained there for the remainder of the convention. Sometimes Hannity is just too full of himself.

I watched on CSPAN through YouTube. I found out there is a way to send it directly from my phone to my smart TV. No commercials, no commentators, and I didn't miss anything--not even the fireworks or the opera singer.

I watched CNN the first night just to see how they would handle it. They had 4 talking heads who had not one word of praise for anything anyone said. Jake Tapper even said, "We have to wait to see what the fact-checkers have to say." Point is, why would anyone want to watch that negative way of watching the convention. The convention was uplifting and the final night was awesome. I switched to C-Span for the rest of the week.

I agree with several others. Started on Fox, but switched to CSPAN after the numerous 'cutaways' on Fox to their talking heads; and even once cutting away to a Joe Biden ad during one of the speakers' time. I'll bet the excellent Fox ratings would have been much better without the comments from their hired hands. Particularly Chris Wallace and Juan Williams in their daily auditions for CNN jobs is especially annoying.

You can bet that a huge number of people also watched the Convention via the video on YouTube and other streaming channels and services to get away from the Fox talking heads who constantly butt in, talk over, and interrupt what is going on, at the convention venue and other recent events and expert guests, to try to show how smart they think they are, and increasingly if they are Democrats, to put a Democrat favoring filter, or take, on the event.

Fox is no longer my go-to news source. I watched it elsewhere, where there were fewer talking heads explaining to me what I just heard, or what I would be hearing if they hadn't cut away.

Apologies. Unfinished.
Imagine the numbers if CSPAN had been included in the total tabulation of viewers. Trump was great, Melania predictably stunning, those in attendance enthused and Ivanka’s introduction of her Father was gracious, charming, prideful and very loving. Beautiful family. The fireworks were outstanding but the opera singer left me with mixed feelings. Beautiful and powerful voice but took the evening just a little too far over the top for my taste. Otherwise........SPECTACULAR evening. Mission accomplished!

The left aligned Drudge Report was trying to claim, in it;s main masthead, that Trumps audience was down 25% from 2016's event, but lower than Biden this year. I would assume he is quoting the same sources as the fake polls showing Biden ahead by double digits.

We watched on RSBN (Right Side Broadcasting Network on Youtube). They are true conservatives without the dour anti-Trump panelists of Donna Brazile, Juan Williams, Dana Perino or Chris Wallace. No commentary during the RNC and no cutting off the speeches.
RSBN also has been showing all the Trump rallies from beginning to end.

In the past, conventions had time gaps between speakers. Networks did commentary during these gaps. FOX and all the networks were still geared to this format. The rapid succession of speakers made commentators unnecessary. The media didn't adjust to the new format. So they cut in.
Viewers wanted to hear the speakers, not the high-paid, self-important "experts." Viewers also didn't want to be distracted the idiotic banners and boxes that ran below and along side the speakers
Because of this, many, including me, switched to C-Span, streaming, or another source. I bet those numbers were far greater than imagined

Start with Lou Dobbs, then over to Tucker. Only watch Hannity when Hannity is not on and switch over to Spicer & Co (Newsmax) when he is. We are getting way too much of Raymond Arroyo on Laura lately which, I find tiresome...Laura is fading fast, the news is old news by the time it gets to her, same with Hannity. His ratings are only what they are because of the lead in from Tucker and sandwiched between Laura.

I was exasperated by Fox on the first night with them deciding who I could hear while the talking heads gave me their bits of wisdom. No thanks. I went to CSPAN. The regular people whose names were not well known were the most inspiring of all. Yes, some of the leaders were good but the moving, first hand stories from regular people were the best.

I glanced at Fox the first night and there was the crash test dummy, Juan Williams, with that wormy sounding Pireino [sic] woman that looked like Hollywood squares. I knew motor mouth, bleach bit, my pillow Hannity would be on later so I switched over to C-span for all the nights.

Like a lot of people I preferred the unfiltered version on C-SPAN. I did turn back after the President's speech just to see how the FNC panel reacted. The real revelation came when I was watching the magnificent "Nessun Dorma" aria from "Turandot" and the ever misinformed Chris Wallace came on to tell everyone it was from "LaBoheme". It was clear from that statement that he knows nothing about most of what he opines about and is just a teleprompter reader of other people's words. Nobody even pointed out the the aria ends with:
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win!
I will win!
I will win!

Out here in 'Flyover Country' we are getting our television from ROKU.... About 3 months ago CoxCable practiced their pricing escalado one time too many....We were getting pushed to the area of $190. to $200. per month for Internet and CableTV.... We cut the cable...Took a couple of weeks to figure it out as to news and current happenings. Internet/ with streaming works pretty well.
Do not have to watch FOX, anything, as it is sliding into the alphabet networking abyss, and having to pay for their 'talking head' crapola. Sort of the scenario of the Maschochist looking for a beating. Done with that....Watched the White House RNC Event in full, on First TV, Right after Bill O'Rielly's Show. The finalle and its Fireworks were incredibul, and the Operatic singing of Christopher Macchio was stunning!

Same as so many have already posted. Watched (or tried to) the first night on FOX but switched to C-Span for the next three days. Didn't even remember about C-Span until one of my kids told me to watch the convention there. Don't know why Fox News thought it so important to cut away from the speakers so Hannity could interview people who were 'interpreting' what we had just heard or were about to hear. Stupid decision.

I too switched to C-Span specifically because of Hannity. Glad to know I'm not the only one tiring of him.
He has become more and more obnoxious and will not let his guests answer questions that HE asks them. It seems his show has become an hour long rant, and if I hear him humble-brag about his mixed martial arts training one more time my head is going to explode.
Hey Hannity, nobody cares about your tough-guy talk. You're starting to sound like Plugs Biden. Give it a rest; stop talking about yourself so much. It's not about you.

We watched CSPAN all four nights. It was the best. No BS comments just the convention. I did switch around the dial a few times to see if other stations were carrying particularly "provocative" presenters and true to form they were not. Some of the greatest speeches were not carried by the other stations. It was the everyday people who were just extraordinary. And it started with that twenty something, Charlie Kirk. He set the barre on night one and all the others followed in spectacular fashion.
FOX is becoming unwatchable. I love Hannity as a person and as a success, but his show is becoming tedious and he is getting way too full of himself. The FOX panel after the President's speech was predictable. It was Brit Hume that embarrassed himself with his incorrect announcement that the aria was from LaBoheme instead of Turandot. Chris Wallace embarrasses himself every time he opens his mouth regardless what he says.

I had C Span on from the git go. There was no break in the action. They had a good cross section of callers after the speeches were concluded each night. I briefly switched to Fox Thursday, only to see Chris Wallace trashing the President's speech, which lasted less than 5 seconds before going back to C Span. Wallace is bad enough, but with losers Brazile and Williams waiting in the wings to spew most likely similar bilge, why continue?

That is sad because Fox News is awful with Huan Willians, Donna Breazile, Haffwit Harf, Martha McCallum, Bret Baier, Neil Cavuto and the son of Mike Wallace. They talked over the speeches Of their betters so we went to C-SPAN the first night and then OAN, which we easily purchased at KlowdTV for $58 for one year. I recommend it.
