Earlier today, John posted the video of Joe Biden snapping at a reporter who asked him if he has taken a cognitive abilities test. I can understand why Biden resented the question, although it was a fair one, given that the former vice president has claimed to have been tested (in some unspecified way) on his cognition. But to respond by asking the reporter whether he is a junkie was out of line. Biden’s angry response is consistent with the description of him by Steve Silbiger in a guest post for Power Line. Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, as part of the panel’s review of the Russia investigation.

Bill Gates has advocated for pandemic preparedness for years, and famously gave a TED talk in 2015 that warned of the potentially staggering death toll a worldwide pandemic could create. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Two people were hospitalized and two were arrested after a brawl broke out at an Anaheim hotel that involved from 60 to 100 people, police say. The fight was so big -- involving big crowds in at least two separate parts of the hotel - that police had to call in extra help from gang units and the Orange County Sheriff's Department to help separate people. Police were called to the Cambria hotel at Katella Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday. When the first officers got there, they found a large group of about 40 people

Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, signed an executive directive on Wednesday ordering state employees to undergo “implicit bias training.” Executive directives allow the Michigan governor to establish procedures or basic policy for employees of the state’s executive branch. According to the directive, current state employees will be required to undergo “implicit bias training” by the end of this year, while new employees must complete the training as part of the hiring process. While various bias training initiatives have been implemented by government offices in recent months, some research shows that the impact of these initiatives is negligible. Whitmer’s directive

Those of us that care about actual justice can only view the newly leaked arrest video of George Floyd in one way: damning to the media narrative.
A viewing of the video reveals that the events leading up to Floyd's unfortunate, entirely avoidable death are not as they initially seemed, and its release is nothing short of tossing a massive wrench into the agenda-driven gears of media and political discourse. The four officers might well be guilty of something, but the current second-degree charge of murder is not one of them. The political overreach in the case will cause nothing short of absolute chaos

Beirut’s residents are in shock and mourning after an enormous explosion at the city’s port ripped through the Lebanese capital, killing at least 100 and injuring more than 4,000, according to the emergency services. Hospitals are overwhelmed, with some too damaged by the blast to operate. The explosion, which blew out windows and destroyed property for miles around, has been initially blamed on 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in an unsecured warehouse at Beirut’s cargo port. But the government subsequently announced an investigation to determine within five days the exact cause of the explosion and “who was responsible.”

For months we’ve heard reassurances from Democrats that the nation can, and should, vote by mail this November. It won’t, we’ve been told, result in an increase in voter fraud, and we can count on the Postal Service to handle the workload. And, of course, voting by mail is vital to prevent more coronavirus deaths.
It’s becoming painfully obvious that none of that is true, and that the Democrats’ only real motivation is to swing key elections in their favor.

For weeks, there have been news reports and commentary on whether President Trump will "accept" the results of November's election. The president started it on July 19 when he was asked, on Fox News Sunday, "Can you give a direct answer you will accept the election?"
"I have to see," Trump said. "I have to see. No, I'm not going to just say yes. I'm not going to say no, and I didn't last time, either."
The answer set off a long trail of headlines: "Trump declines to say whether he will accept November election." "Trump won't commit to accepting result if he loses election."

New York City's wealthiest neighborhood is grappling with a spike in armed robberies, new data reveals. Manhattan's Upper East Side has seen 27 robberies over the past four weeks - a 286 percent increase when compared to the same period last year, according to the NYPD. Alarmingly, a significant number of those have involved locals being held up at gunpoint. For the entirety of 2019, the Upper East Side only reported four armed robberies. This year, 14 have already been reported. The figures are causing alarm in the ritzy neighborhood, where residents boast an average annual income of $322,400.

No other group has shown as much contempt for its own work during the coronavirus crisis as teachers.
Their unions are actively fighting to keep kids out of the classroom and also to limit remote instruction, lest it require too much time and attention from people who are supposed to be wholly devoted to educating our children.
This has been a wrenching time in the U.S. labor market, with tens of millions thrown out of work. It’s been an inspiring time. Workers we never would have thought of as essential before — grocery-store employees, delivery guys, meat-packing workers — have kept absolutely necessary parts of the economy operating

Citing the “ratings scheme” and an obsession with Trump, among other things, an MSNBC producer who recently resigned from the network, penned an open letter on her personal website explaining her reasoning.“July 24th was my last day at MSNBC. I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore,” Ariana Pekary wrote. “My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis.”Citing her background in public radio, Pekary said

Kneeling for the national anthem at sporting events used to be the occasional episode of player activism protesting the United States as an evil racist empire. Amid the new 21st century woke revolution however, kneeling has become a key signifier for players and teams to declare which side of the culture wars one sits on.
It’s those who love America versus those who hate it, the latter of which despises the American flag and all that it represents as a relic of white supremacy that must be condemned.

Extending the popular Payroll Protection Program is one of the few areas of agreement between the White House and Democrats in the latest proposed coronavirus stimulus — a spending bill criticized by many in the Republican base as a wasteful bailout for cities and states.
Administration and banking industry sources say Senate Republicans‘ proposal to extend the PPP, which is set to expire this week, for companies with fewer than 300 employees and a reduction of 50% or more in revenue is accepted in principle in the talks.
But the provision, which also offers more generous terms for loan forgiveness,

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal on Tuesday to amend the city’s charter — which will be presented to voters on November 3 via ballot — to remove $880 million from law enforcement and “reinvest” the money in “direct community investment” and “alternatives to incarceration.”Titled, “Reimagining L.A. County: Shifting Budget Priorities to Revitalize Under-resourced and Low-income Communities,” the proposal includes language frequently used by Democrat politicians and the broader left. It alleges the existence of “systemic discrimination, exclusion, and inequity” targeting blacks and yielding “racial injustice” and “racial inequity.”

Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that Democrats’ playing politics with the coronavirus negotiations will continue to “sour on the American public.”
Braun spoke to Breitbart News as the Donald Trump administration, Republicans, and Democrats continue to negotiate over a potential coronavirus package that would provide aid to impacted Americans.Republicans, such as Braun, remain concerned that the CARES Act’s generous $600 per week unemployment benefit, when combined with state and local unemployment benefits, makes it hard for Americans to go back work.
To alleviate that unintended consequence, Braun and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) introduced a bill that would provide Americans

When mobs are attacking statues of Ulysses S. Grant, it is difficult to have an intelligent discussion about why some Confederate generals and officials deserve respect. No one today defends the role of slavery. However, if belief in racial equality is the sole measure of the worth of Americans at the time, few people, including in the North, would pass muster.
Racism was rampant, and many northerners objected to slavery not on grounds of humanity and liberty, but because it created sectional division and, in their view, harmed white laborers. Most northern states denied free blacks the right to vote and serve on juries, and imposed other disabilities,

Roughly 40 vehicles lined the road of a small, quiet, and quaint residential community in unincorporated Snohomish County to protest at the private residence of Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, this is the first occurrence of protestors targeting an official in the county. The incident took place at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.
Firsthand witnesses told the Lynnwood Times that a neighbor tipped off residents to dozens of vehicles traversing the street of the private residence of Best. Neighbors aware of Best’s physical home location, established a perimeter to protect her home from possible mischief.

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz clashed with Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono at the end of a Senate subcommittee hearing Tuesday on antifa violence.
Cruz, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, convened the hearing to discuss the role antifa and other left-wing groups play in ongoing riots in major U.S. cities like Portland.
Before getting up to leave the hearing, Hirono said “we can all agree” on denouncing “violent

It’s not voter fraud; it’s the process itself — the laws and the lawyers, the incompetence and the bungling bureaucrats — that makes mail-in ballots an almost inevitable nightmare.
As The Post reports, as many as 25 percent of the 120,000 mailed-in ballots cast in Brooklyn alone for June’s primaries may have been disqualified, according to the borough’s Democratic Party boss.
Some lacked a postmark or a signature or arrived late, even though voters mailed them with sufficient time.

Senate lawmakers convened Tuesday for a hearing to address Antifa’s growing presence in the United States and their participation in the recent Black Live Matter protests.
George Washington University law professor, Johnathan Turley, said that Antifa, which is short for anti-fascist, is the biggest threat to America's fundamental constitutional right, freedom of speech.
“In my three decades of teaching, I have never seen the level of fear and intimidation that we have today on our campuses,” Turley said in testimony to senators Tuesday. “Many professors are afraid to voice dissenting views of the current protests or other issues out of fear that they could be accused of racism or even physically attacked.”

Tensions flared at a Senate hearing on Antifa when a top Democrat walked out of the room declaring she couldn't sit through Sen. Ted Cruz's rhetorical speeches any longer.
The dustup occurred when Cruz, R-Texas, blasted Democrats for not condemning Antifa more directly for the violence and destruction that has taken hold in certain U.S. cities in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis.
But Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, said Cruz just wasn't listening during the more than three-hour hearing when Democrats said violence is not acceptable.

Mail-in ballots are the latest talking point for Democrats and their media allies. They claim this will keep voters safe from the Wuhan virus, even though it is burning itself out quite nicely on its own.
The surges in cases we are seeing across the country mean that more and more of the population have been exposed to the virus. The vast majority are not getting sick; in fact, most don't even know they are ill, and they are getting tested due to potential exposure, for return to work or travel or simply because the tests are widely available and free under most insurance plans.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas Republicans on Tuesday nominated Rep. Roger Marshall for the Senate over polarizing conservative Kris Kobach, heeding the party establishment’s advice as it tries to keep a normally safe seat out of play in what could be a difficult year for the GOP. Marshall prevailed comfortably in a crowded primary field with the backing of major farm, business and anti-abortion groups but without a pre-election endorsement from President Donald Trump sought by Senate Majority Mitch McConnell and others for the two-term congressman for western and central Kansas. Marshall overcame Kobach’s reputation as a conservative firebrand and informal adviser to Trump. Correction*
