New York City's wealthiest neighborhood is grappling with a spike in armed robberies, new data reveals. Manhattan's Upper East Side has seen 27 robberies over the past four weeks - a 286 percent increase when compared to the same period last year, according to the NYPD. Alarmingly, a significant number of those have involved locals being held up at gunpoint. For the entirety of 2019, the Upper East Side only reported four armed robberies. This year, 14 have already been reported. The figures are causing alarm in the ritzy neighborhood, where residents boast an average annual income of $322,400.

Yet, these people will probably continue to vote for liberal/radical democrats (but I repeat myself). It is hard for me to wrap my head around how that is possible.

And I'll just bet that you never thought it would EVER happen in YOUR neighborhood, right? Well, what are you going to do about it?

Are they still releasing perps without bail automatically? If so these punks will just take the subway back to the upper east side and try again.

One thing that is a certainty is that criminals will take advantage of any situation given them. They are very cunning like that. Remove the presence of the police and you can count on an increase in criminal activity. This is just the way it is, it is common sense. Democrat politicians are making bad decisions not because they do not know the consequences of those decisions but because they do not care. They claim to be compassionate and tell is they care about others but the fact of the matter is nothing and I mean nothing means more to them than advancing their political agenda. Liberals, communists, socialists, Marxists have been the vehicle of misery and caused millions of deaths because they believed their political agenda was first and foremost the driving force behind their actions. Just because these are American leftists does not mean they are innately compassionate. They are not. Their political philosophy is their religion and they are zealots in the worst possible sense. The reason being when you reject God as the moral authority in your life, then you become your own god and that never ends well. Don’t expect reason or compassion from a leftist zealot. They are incapable of it and their decisions reflect that. DeBlasio is a committed leftists. It isn’t in him to have compassion for the people he is sentencing to a living hell. Until men and women like him are run out of the public square, people will suffer and live in misery. We are learning the hard lesson that we get the government we vote for. Will this violence and chaos be enough to change minds at the ballot box? Time will tell.

No sympathy here. You voted for the very people who took your police away and your 2nd Amendment right to defend yourself. Now, live with it and don’t move anywhere else and screw that place up also.

Go full frontal Minneapolis New Yorkers. Carry 1500 bucks to give the robbers and also give them your cell phone. Problem solved! And, "held at gun point" in New York City? No way. I thought guns were banned in the city. Oh, oh, yeah and the best solution is to paint Black Live Matter on the streets in front of the buildings. That's pure crime prevention right there.

They should seek the advice of really rich people in other socialist, crime-ridden countries.
You hire your own security; you pay the gangs to leave you alone; you need to get used to it because law enforcement will never gain control again (because they have to knuckle under to protect their families too).

Impossible! Why the (openly and notoriously UNCONSTITUTIONAL) Sullivan Act of 1911 made such impossible!
Note: the voters of New York Sewer can't blame this just on Diblasio. There is evidently something in the air / water / soil that puts a parasite into the brains of those in the Boroughs. For well over a century. I have no sympathy whatsoever, just contempt.
The best thing out of New York is an empty bus.

I'm with the poster the city of New York has gone too far to turn this around. DeBlasio has done the polar opposite of what needed to be done. No arrest, bails gone, catch and release then emptying jails because of the virus was a stupid thing to do.
Priorities like painting BLM on large swaths of streets with taxpayer dollars was not very clever or worth doing then defunding police was the worse. DeBlasio must be getting his marching orders from the wifey and daughter.
The Big Apple is now rotten to the core.

OK. So these punks take a cell phone, a hand bag there, and perhaps a wallet from somebody else. Not enough to support the typical drug habit. They are doing it for the ugly fun of it. And the wealthy elite who live there believe it is ok because it represents their understanding of social justice. And, yes, these same elite will continue voting dim. The warped mind of liberals is at work here.

We live in a beautiful home at the foot of the Berkshires in western MA. We have noticed in the last few months cars with ny plates driving by slowly, sometimes stopping to look. We think that now that a lot of these idiots can work from home they have decided to flee the cesspool they created and to head for the hills as it were.
We would not be surprised one bit if one day some bagel chomping city slicker got out of one of these cars and asked us to name our price for our place.

#2 What are they going to do about it? Same thing they always do: Blame Trump.
It makes as much sense as it has all the other times. The Leftist media hasn't just created a lie or a narrative, in the last four years they have created an alternative reality for these people. A wake up call from a break-in won't help. They need an intervention

Spot on .We get the app “Citizen” & the lil dots for NYPD events are getting more numerous / brazen . As for private police , that is for a more open “estate”or “event ” kind of protecting. Though streets are closed for really fancy “do’s “ of politically connected .But the Schadenfreude is big , very big here , as big as the delusion of safety .

Doesn’t socialism promise a classless society where everybody is equal (in misery)? Isn’t the ultimate goal to get rid of the wealthy so eventually nobody is wealthy? When the billionaires down to the “thousandnaires” finally disappear from the boroughs of the Shriveled Apple, those thugs are going to be out of a job. NOW, there will be nobody with money and jewels to steal from. Then, that’s the final end game of socialism. Exactly what DeBlasio dreams of.
If you think the above is like a crazy movie script, I proffer this:
Back before the collapse of the USSR, there was a Russian delegation given a tour of the slums, including Harlem, by their American anti-capitalist guide ( Democrat? It matters not). When the guide, hoping to show the dilapidated buildings as results of capitalistic slumlord greed, one delegate said “Those would be really nice apartments in Moscow!”
So...what does that tell you about the conditions in the Motherland at the time? That could be NY’s future.

There's no sense in robbing people in your own area that have nothing. Go to the area where the money is because the police aren't going to be around to stop anyone.

Unfortunately the rich liberals who reside there generally only talk with other liberals, consequently they will blame Trump, and will vote to re-elect liberal and socialist Democrats like de Blasio and Cuomo who are tolerant of street crime.

Just keep voting for white, liberal/progressives and you'll keep getting more of that type of crime in your neighborhood.

So instead of sending the cops, NY will send over a couple of social workers to help them get over their white privilege, right?
Funny how quickly NIMBY gets people's attention!

According to anti-law and order demonrats, the only solution is to get rid of cops, send in the social workers, and lavish more money on the leeches and thugs.
I await the day the thugs start preying on the rich politicians and demonrats. Only then will things change for the better. It would help if NYC morons would quit voting for demonrats too.
