ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Two people were hospitalized and two were arrested after a brawl broke out at an Anaheim hotel that involved from 60 to 100 people, police say. The fight was so big -- involving big crowds in at least two separate parts of the hotel - that police had to call in extra help from gang units and the Orange County Sheriff's Department to help separate people. Police were called to the Cambria hotel at Katella Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday. When the first officers got there, they found a large group of about 40 people

Any time you see the word “brawl” in a headline, you don’t need to read any further to know what the story is. The only variation is where it occurred - the mall, McDonalds, the local ghetto, a gangsta party, a funeral, a wedding...

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx has dismissed more than 25,000 felony cases - including many involving charges of murder and other serious crimes - in her first three years on the job, a new report shows. Foxx gained notoriety last year when she dropped felony charges against Jussie Smollett, the Empire actor accused of staging a racist, homophobic attack on himself in January 2019. The Chicago Tribune on Monday published an analysis of Foxx's overall record on dropping charges, revealing that she has done so at a rate that's 35 percent higher than her predecessor. Anticipation has been growing for weeks that Joe Biden will make history by choosing the first Black woman as a running mate on a major party’s presidential ticket. But after news broke over the weekend that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a white woman, had flown to meet with Biden to discuss the vice presidency, frustration and disappointment boiled over among Black female Democrats — including some in her own state. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot snapped at a reporter who questioned whether city officials went too easy on looters from protests in recent months. The exchange took place Monday after widespread violence and looting took place downtown in the early morning hours following a police-involved shooting that left a man injured. More than 100 arrests were made, and 13 officers were hurt during the unrest, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said during a press conference Monday morning. “It almost sounds as though you’re saying this is — the reason [this is happening] is because the courts and the prosecutors were not

If the presidential-nominating process is the weakest part of our political system, the vice-presidential selection process comes solidly in second place. Some might even argue it’s a contender for the top spot. (Snip) They may also consider it odd that Joe Biden has limited his choice to women and, apparently, to women of color. That limits the plausible picks to a very small percentage, and each of the names mentioned seems to have at least one plausible disqualifying characteristic.
