Epic Systems is requiring its 9,000-plus employees to return to work in person at its sprawling campus outside of Madison (WI) by Sept. 21.
The health software company is one of the first large employers in the state to no longer give employees the choice of working from home. Epic workers decried the order Tuesday, saying company CEO Judy Faulkner was ignoring public health advice.
Disgraced Democratic donor Ed Buck has been charged with four more felonies, including enticing victims to travel interstate for prostitution. The Justice Department announced Tuesday that a Los Angeles federal grand jury returned an updated indictment with the additional felony charges, bringing a total of nine counts against Buck, 65, before he is scheduled to head to trial in January. Prosecutors have alleged Buck operated a drug den in his West Hollywood home, where he administered methamphetamine to men against their will during sexual encounters.

Nashville, TN—As the 24-hour-a-day protest at the state capitol approaches its 50th day, the cost to pay overtime and travel expenses for state troopers has ballooned to $878,626.15. Robert Powell, the husband of Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, D-Fla., reportedly took $700,000 from a Ukrainian oligarch named Igor Kolomoisky. Mucarsel-Powell sits on the House Judiciary Committee, the committee that drafted two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump for his alleged abuse of power with regards to Ukraine.
In 2018, the Daily Beast reported that a number of businesses linked to Kolomoisky hired Powell as an attorney. One of those firms paid Powell at least $700,000 over two years, according to public records.

Left-wing protesters were chased off by armed residents in the Seattle suburbs … and it was glorious.
With their faces covered and their backpacks bulging with heaven-knows-what, a group of protesters were on their way to Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best’s Snohomish County home on Saturday when they were successfully stopped and chased away by a group of people who identified themselves as local residents. The protesters were then informed they were trespassing on a private road and that local law enforcement was on the way.
Two of the self-identified residents were armed.

The vehicle was spotted parking near a new wall construction site. Several individuals were seen loading items onto the back of the truck .(Snip)The vehicle was reportedly registered to CMF Leasing in Fort Worth, Texas. Identifying decals on the truck promoted Southwest Valley Constructors (SWVC), a firm holding a contract to build a border wall system.
The investigation also found that the driver was identified as a resident of Roma who worked for SWVC, according to Border Patrol agents.

As it turns out, the government is using unlikely public employees who otherwise would have likely been furloughed to serve as vice couriers for them. One such city staffer, for example, was a curator with the San Francisco city museums before the shutdown. Being the museums were closed, this person would stay on the payroll as a “runner, delivering meals, liquor, weed and cigarettes to the homeless in their hotels.
A crazy mask Karen went berserk in a Post Falls, Idaho Walmart over the weekend when she spotted customers without their faces covered.
The enraged, overweight woman began screaming at a group of teenagers: “You guys are abusing your freedom! Stop it!” the woman screamed as she punched the teen boy who was recording her with his cell phone.
“You think this is cute not wearing a mask,” the obese man said. “Get a damn mask and put it on your face.”
The teen boys showed incredible restraint and remained polite during the confrontation and assault.

The thought occurs to us in the wake of the Washington Post’s story about Mr. Biden’s decision to delay by as much as two weeks the announcement of his choice and the ill-feeling among Democrats as jockeying for the position has intensified among the potential picks.

A recent White House memo directs the Pentagon and other executive departments to provide a roadmap by early August for creating a security fleet of icebreaker ships, Fox News reported Monday.
The move to acquire icebreaker ships signals Washington’s recognition of the Arctic and Antarctic regions' increasing geopolitical significance, as well as a willingness to stand up to China and Russia.
The memo comes at a time when the United States has minimal strategic capabilities in the polar regions—there is not a single U.S. port in the Arctic capable of housing icebreaking ships.
Call it an unforced error — a potentially serious backfire.
Over there at CNN, former Bill Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart outs the Democrats’ greatest fear: that Joe Biden will be a disaster in the scheduled presidential debates with President Trump. So Lockhart’s recommendation to Biden? Don’t debate.

Gore that they have forgotten why SCOTUS actually stopped the Florida recounts on December 12, 2000. That was the “safe harbor” date after which the state’s electors may not have been counted. Federal law requires that states must resolve post-election disputes (e.g. recounts) within thirty-five days after Election Day or risk disfranchising their voters. In 2000, that would have changed the outcome of the presidential election.
Get this: Democrats want to scrap this year’s presidential debates. It’s not hard to guess why.

A word about Herman Cain

Herman Cain passed away a few days ago. He was 74 and died of COVID-19.
It did not take long for some to blame Cain's death on the Trump rally or the lack of a mask.
Unfortunately, these people forgot that Mr. Cain was given a 30% chance of survival from stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver. He underwent chemotherapy and surgery to remove the cancer from his liver and was declared cancer-free in 2007.
The other side of Mr. Cain is that he was an African-American success story.
I read about his life in a campaign book published in 2011.
