Gov. Andrew Cuomo is begging wealthy New Yorkers to return to the city to save it from economic ruin while fighting off calls from other lawmakers to raise their taxes, a move he fears could permanently drive the top 1 percent out of the city. Thousands of New York City residents fled Manhattan and Brooklyn earlier this year when the city was the COVID-19 epicenter of the world. Many flocked to their second homes in the Hamptons or upstate, while others rented or bought new properties, abandoning their expensive city apartments. Now, six months on with no end to the national nightmare in sight, many are laying down permanent roots.

Wealthy New York residents will return when the benefits outweigh the costs of doing so. Cuomo and deBlasio's policies have failed miserably to justify the costs of living in New York. Wealthy people are not stupid, New York political officeholders are.

So apparently New York had the virus nicely handled, half the deaths in the entire country, and Cuomo figures his biggest problem is the rednecks from "out there" bringing the bug back in ? Sounds like Mr. C has bought HIMSELF several drinks too many. Your ex NYC cash cows are out in the free world and they are likely thinking about staying there.

I read somewhere and I can't remember where but there is a 100 million dollar apartment being built on Billionaires Row. Whoever built it probably should not expect potential buyers to be knocking on his door any time soon. I would not want to be in NYC real estate now. It will take years and changes in the state and city administrations before confidence returns. NYC needs a Trump in the statehouse or in Gracie Mansion. Andrew has an extreme amount of chutzpah to ask taxpayers he despises to save the city. I hope New York voters are learning a lesson here but I am sceptical.

Why? They've discovered they don't need NY, and if they live in the Upper East Side, they're seeing a significant increase in robberies. I do wonder if this will affect the November elections where Republicans, Conservatives and other party folks are able to vote in massive numbers to make a difference on flipping 3-5 Congressional seats.

This is mainly due to the $10K limit on state income taxes that can be credited in federal income taxes implemented in President Trump's tax bill. This puts a glaring spotlight on high state income tax states. States without income tax were effectively subsidizing states with high taxes at the federal level. Letting criminals out of prison, defunding the police and letting radicals burn and loot as they please probably doesn't help much either.

Kneeling for the national anthem at sporting events used to be the occasional episode of player activism protesting the United States as an evil racist empire. Amid the new 21st century woke revolution however, kneeling has become a key signifier for players and teams to declare which side of the culture wars one sits on. It’s those who love America versus those who hate it, the latter of which despises the American flag and all that it represents as a relic of white supremacy that must be condemned.

Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, signed an executive directive on Wednesday ordering state employees to undergo “implicit bias training.” Executive directives allow the Michigan governor to establish procedures or basic policy for employees of the state’s executive branch. According to the directive, current state employees will be required to undergo “implicit bias training” by the end of this year, while new employees must complete the training as part of the hiring process. While various bias training initiatives have been implemented by government offices in recent months, some research shows that the impact of these initiatives is negligible. Whitmer’s directive

Whatever was left of an in-person 2020 Democratic National Convention evaporated Wednesday as organizers announced Joe Biden won't be traveling to Milwaukee to give his presidential acceptance speech. And neither will any of the other speakers who will address the Aug. 17-20 convention. With the coronavirus pandemic paralyzing modern politics, Democrats will hold a virtual convention. Biden will accept the party's presidential nomination from his home state of Delaware.

On August 1, the Washington Post published an op-ed by the now-retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, of impeachment fame. The paper’s editors had to heavily revise the piece prior to publication. American Greatness has obtained the text of Vindman’s first draft. After 21 years of playing soldier, I am now a civilian. I decided to retire, as difficult as it was, because I am getting a cool $1 million for my upcoming memoir, and no longer need to pretend that I care. I was hoping for $2 million, but I suppose $1 million will have to do. Besides, I had every expectation of being promoted to a general, but
