Nashville, TN—As the 24-hour-a-day protest at the state capitol approaches its 50th day, the cost to pay overtime and travel expenses for state troopers has ballooned to $878,626.15. The latest available figure is only for roughly half of the protest so far, between May 31 and June 30. According to a spokesman for TEMA, the cost cannot be reimbursed by federal dollars because of its type of emergency, therefore it will be paid out of the state’s reserve funds for emergencies. Activists like Justin Jones said the protestors shouldn’t be blamed for the costs. “That is the choice of the governor.

Comments:

Marxism is all fun and games until the bills come due. Not that the "Peaceful protestors" will have to shoulder the load.

They need to invoice BLM for that. Taxpayers should not be picking up the bills for damages caused by organizations. BLM and Antifa can get the money from their funders: Apple, Google, Amazon, NFL, and all the other CEO's who's values don't meet ours.

Typical basement dwelling SJWs. It's the Governors fault for not coming out and having a conversation. What a crock of BS. The truth is, the governor didn't give the entitled dummies what they wanted.

No problem. Isn't Chuckie and the pig Piglousi holding out for federal taxpayers to bail out blue states? Nashville should make their own residents pay the bill. After all, the demonrat run mayor and council were fine with the crowd running up the bill.

Shots were fired early Wednesday morning as violent protests continued to rock Portland, Oregon, with demonstrators breaking into the Portland Police Association’s offices and setting it on fire. While they were dispersing that crowd, they said shots were fired nearby in what appeared to be two separate exchanges.(Snip) Protesters are now using the same tactics on local police that they used against the feds. Scientists analysed 35 studies into the effects of the drugs which lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol and found the pills have no consistent benefit. The research, published in the British Medical Journal, found three quarters of all trials reported no reduction in mortality among those who took the drugs. And half of all studies suggested that cholesterol-busting pills did not prevent heart attacks or strokes.(Snip) The researchers systematically reviewed all published clinical trials comparing treatment with one of three types of cholesterol lowering drugs—statins, ezetimibe and PCSK9.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is begging wealthy New Yorkers to return to the city to save it from economic ruin while fighting off calls from other lawmakers to raise their taxes, a move he fears could permanently drive the top 1 percent out of the city. Thousands of New York City residents fled Manhattan and Brooklyn earlier this year when the city was the COVID-19 epicenter of the world. Many flocked to their second homes in the Hamptons or upstate, while others rented or bought new properties, abandoning their expensive city apartments. Now, six months on with no end to the national nightmare in sight, many are laying down permanent roots.
