Robert Powell, the husband of Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, D-Fla., reportedly took $700,000 from a Ukrainian oligarch named Igor Kolomoisky. Mucarsel-Powell sits on the House Judiciary Committee, the committee that drafted two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump for his alleged abuse of power with regards to Ukraine.
In 2018, the Daily Beast reported that a number of businesses linked to Kolomoisky hired Powell as an attorney. One of those firms paid Powell at least $700,000 over two years, according to public records.
The Miami Herald reported Powell was working for companies tied to Kolomoisky for 10 years. (Snip)she did not see her husband’s work as relevant to her campaign.

A friendly reminder so some will not have dangerous high blood pressure after reading this. There is Justice for us and Just-Us for Democrats. There, one can relax knowing nothing will happen.

From the Miami Herald July 2018:
The husband of a Miami Democrat hoping to unseat U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo this November has financial ties to an Eastern European oligarch dogged by allegations of contract killings and embezzlement.
Public records show that Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s husband, Robert Powell, spent much of the last 10 years as general counsel for companies owned at least in part by Igor Kolomoisky, a wealthy Ukrainian businessman involved in banking and mining. In federal financial disclosures, Mucarsel-Powell reported that her husband of 15 years earned most of their household income during the previous two years — at least $695,000 — from a ferroalloys trading corporation associated with Kolomoisky.

I'll bet every dim in congress (and many repubics) had their hand out. To make matters worse, much or all of this money came from foreign aid (that would be me and you) and laundered through these oligarchs. I think we might be entering some interesting (more interesting) times.

Mere coincidence I tell you! $700,000 legal fees collected in two years from a single client, a pittance!

Interesting timing, I literally just finished an Ethics and Code of Conduct training course for the company I work for.
Do they have to abide by any such Code of Conduct in Congress?
If not, maybe they should institute such a policy, and extend it to elections and campaigns too.
They talk not just about bribery, but dealing with third-parties that may be used to do something they know can't be done legally in the United States (e.g. FBI using foreign agents to spy on Trump campaign)..
