Minneapolis’ Frey accuses Walz of
dragging feet during early unrest

Mayor Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis Democrat who faced sharp criticism over his handling of the George Floyd riots in June, on Monday seemed to place much of the blame on Gov. Tim Walz, another Democrat, for failing to act quickly on early requests from the city for state intervention, a report said. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune published a detailed report that shed light on the interaction between the mayor's office and Walz in the early days of the protest. The governor's office made it clear that National Guard Troops were ready within 24 hours of the mayor's informal request, but Frey seems to be unconvinced

I am babysitting grandchildren this week and the two twits Frey and Walz sound like them. “I know you are but what am I?”, “He’s not the boss of me”; “He made me do it”; “I wasn’t playing with him so why should I help him clean up?”; “I DID clean up but he messed it up again!” “You are a stupid head!” This is leadership in today’s Minnesota, my home state, a state I’ve loved all my life and missed ever since I left in 1970. And every friend I have there hates Trump and cannot see that they, not he, have brought the mess that has occurred in Minneapolis upon themselves because they are too partisan and forgiving of failed leadership within their midst as long as there is a “D” after the name. Come to think of it, they sound like children, too.

FTA: "Teddy Tschann, a spokesman for Walz, told the paper that the governor is a 24-year veteran of the state’s National Guard and “knows how much planning goes into a successful mission." What Teddy T does NOT tell you is that the reason Walz IS a NG vet is because he resigned his position two years early (even taking a financial hit) because he learned that his unit was being deployed to Iraq. This is no defense of Frey, nor the city clowncil. They are all implicated - no, that's too kind -- they are all RESPONSIBLE ... in this tragic and humungous loss of life, property, businesses, and respect the city has incurred.

Cannibalism among democrats who refused federal defensive aid over and over but are among the first to beg for taxpayer dollars to fix the mess they allowed to happen. George Floyd's actions got him dead, not the cops.

Something this whole mess has highlighted to the nation is that proper and legal procedures for how and when the Feds step into a state's mess is so not understood by the citizens or the pols themselves. That is what happens when you do not teach basic Civics classes in school. The media has been beating the drum about Trump not handling the crisis this year, when it is actually the blue states themselves who are the first responders here. Trump actually knows this, and maybe he should have been a little more direct about how this is on the State not the Feds to fix the local messes. So now we are left with Governors who are stomping their jackbooted feet all over the constitution, and Trump is kinda stuck. Like #1 says, elections matter, and election results have consequences that can wind up being unpleasant if you keep voting for the same democrats year after year after year.

Kneeling for the national anthem at sporting events used to be the occasional episode of player activism protesting the United States as an evil racist empire. Amid the new 21st century woke revolution however, kneeling has become a key signifier for players and teams to declare which side of the culture wars one sits on. It’s those who love America versus those who hate it, the latter of which despises the American flag and all that it represents as a relic of white supremacy that must be condemned.

Extending the popular Payroll Protection Program is one of the few areas of agreement between the White House and Democrats in the latest proposed coronavirus stimulus — a spending bill criticized by many in the Republican base as a wasteful bailout for cities and states. Administration and banking industry sources say Senate Republicans‘ proposal to extend the PPP, which is set to expire this week, for companies with fewer than 300 employees and a reduction of 50% or more in revenue is accepted in principle in the talks. But the provision, which also offers more generous terms for loan forgiveness,

When mobs are attacking statues of Ulysses S. Grant, it is difficult to have an intelligent discussion about why some Confederate generals and officials deserve respect. No one today defends the role of slavery. However, if belief in racial equality is the sole measure of the worth of Americans at the time, few people, including in the North, would pass muster. Racism was rampant, and many northerners objected to slavery not on grounds of humanity and liberty, but because it created sectional division and, in their view, harmed white laborers. Most northern states denied free blacks the right to vote and serve on juries, and imposed other disabilities,

Would Vice President Biden’s search for a running mate have been so fraught if he hadn’t announced his plan to exclude male candidates from consideration? The thought occurs to us in the wake of the Washington Post’s story about Mr. Biden’s decision to delay by as much as two weeks the announcement of his choice and the ill-feeling among Democrats as jockeying for the position has intensified among the potential picks. “Even some longtime Biden allies worry that the process has become ‘messier than it should be,’ pitting women, especially Black women, against one another,” reports the Post’s Annie Linsky.
Why Voting By Mail Imperils

The Democrats are obviously committed to using the COVID-19 pandemic as the latest pretext for achieving their longtime goal of widespread voting by mail. They may, however, end up outsmarting themselves. The Democrats are so invested in their revisionist history concerning Bush v. Gore that they have forgotten why SCOTUS actually stopped the Florida recounts on December 12, 2000. That was the “safe harbor” date after which the state’s electors may not have been counted. Federal law requires that states must resolve post-election disputes (e.g. recounts) within thirty-five days after Election Day or risk disfranchising their voters. In 2000, that would have changed the outcome of the presidential election.

Get this: Democrats want to scrap this year’s presidential debates. It’s not hard to guess why. “Whatever you do,” CNN’s Joe Lockhart, who served as President Bill Clinton’s press secretary, advised Joe Biden last week, “don’t debate” President Trump. Dem strategist Zac Petkanas argues: “This is not a normal presidential election, and Trump is not a legitimate candidate” and so doesn’t deserve a debate. (Never mind that Trump won an overwhelming majority of electoral votes.)

I mean, I don't think he's the only politician out there to exaggerate or tell stories but he really is notable for this, and it was something that caused problems for him the first time he ran for president [in 1988] when that candidacy was derailed by his lies, his plagiarism."

Protesters in Gotham and other cities around the nation are so used to getting their way, they’ve been spoiled. Their illegal occupation of our streets and parks has become so routine that the protesting class throws tantrums when it faces consequences, however rarely that happens. Last week’s arrest of Nikki Stone, wanted for alleged serial vandalism of police cameras, was a case in point. The 18-year-old homeless woman was marching in a “peaceful,” though non-permitted, march down Second Avenue when plainclothes NYPD officers arrested her and put her in an unmarked van.

One of the basic tasks of the political Left, not only in contemporary America but on a worldwide basis ever since the French Revolution, is to identify those social institutions that are healthy and functional, then ruin them completely, and call this result “reform.” Sometimes millions of people die as a result of the Left’s appetite for “reform” (e.g., collectivization of agriculture in the Soviet Union), but always innocent people are made to suffer on behalf of the allegedly idealistic motives of the self-anointed progressive “reformers.” Scarcely half a century ago, America’s system of higher education was the envy of the world,

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is begging wealthy New Yorkers to return to the city to save it from economic ruin while fighting off calls from other lawmakers to raise their taxes, a move he fears could permanently drive the top 1 percent out of the city. Thousands of New York City residents fled Manhattan and Brooklyn earlier this year when the city was the COVID-19 epicenter of the world. Many flocked to their second homes in the Hamptons or upstate, while others rented or bought new properties, abandoning their expensive city apartments. Now, six months on with no end to the national nightmare in sight, many are laying down permanent roots.
