The Justice Department continues to ramp up its war with former President Donald Trump and his associates, issuing over 40 subpoenas to his associates over the last week and seizing the phones of at least two top advisors. Many outlets are reporting this as breaking news, but RedState’s Nick Arama had already reported a lot of it going as back as far as Friday. A bit late to the party, The New York Times said on Monday:
Justice Department officials have seized the phones of two top advisers to former President Donald J. Trump and blanketed his aides with about 40 subpoenas in a substantial escalation of the investigation into his

Two stories in the news strike a common chord: the need to stop infantilizing minority, especially black, populations. The first comes from the world of sports and involves the familiar racial hate incident hoax. Briefly, the Duke women’s volleyball team played a match at Brigham Young University, and lost. After the match, the godmother of one of the Duke players, who is black, tweeted that someone in the BYU crowd had yelled the “N-word” at her goddaughter when she was serving. It turned out that she (the godmother) is a virulent anti-white racist (“These white folks ain’t never had they ass kicked, but they better get used to it”).

Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently suggested that the “essence” of the Disney brand was misused in its opposition of parental rights in Florida, making the remarks months after the company went full groomer in opposing a ban on inappropriate discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten classrooms.
Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law went into effect this year after several tumultuous weeks of far-left radicals mischaracterizing the bill, even falsely labeling it “Don’t Say Gay.” In reality, the law does not ban any phrase or word but, in part, bars woke classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in classrooms for children in kindergarten through third grade.

Former President Donald Trump and the US Department of Justice agree that Judge Raymond J. Dearie would be a suitable choice for an outside special master to review more than 11,000 documents taken from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last month as part of an investigation into his handling of government records. In a filing Monday evening that marked a rare moment of consensus in the case, the Justice Department said Dearie, along with its two other candidates, retired Judge Barbara S. Van Horn, Texas - An "anomaly" forced an in-flight capsule abort Monday during a Blue Origin flight from West Texas.
The New Shepard rocket, now grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration, was not carrying people. It's an earlier version of one that's launched six times with people onboard.
One minute and four seconds into its 10-minute mission is when the booster of the Blue Origin NS-23 failed.
Just after an irregular jet of flame streaked from the engine, the abort system kicked in and rocketed the capsule away from the failing main stage.

Joe Biden on Monday said ending cancer 'as we know it' was one of the reasons he ran for president as he supercharged his 'Cancer Moonshot' initiative with a shot of glamour from the Kennedy family.
Biden, who wants to cut cancer deaths in half over the next 25 years, said cancer can be transformed into a disease that can be managed and lived with. He issued his new call to arms at the John F. Kennedy Library, on the 60th anniversary of Prsident Kennedy's famous 'Moonshot' speech, where JFK rallied America to beat Russia to the moon—which was accomplished in 1969.

The Justice Department issued 40 subpoenas seeking information about the actions of former President Donald J. Trump and his associates in relation to the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
Boris Epshteyn and Mike Roman, who were both Trump advisers, have had their phones seized as evidence reports the New York Times, however the new subpoenas have been issued for a wide variety of people around Trump, from low-level aides to his most senior advisers. The action represents something of an escalation in the investigation coming just two months before the midterm elections, following several months of relative calm.

The Crown of Scotland was placed on Her Majesty's coffin in Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral today as her son King Charles and his siblings watched on.

As we reported earlier, there have been a lot of questions being raised about John Fetterman’s ability to take on the job he’s running for given the way that he has been sounding during his public remarks. His latest remarks at a pro-abortion rally raise even more questions. He characterizes questions as making fun of the stroke he had in May, but his ability to perform the job is part of what people will be evaluated when deciding whether to vote for him. Casting it as “making fun of him” is trying to deflect from those legitimate questions.

As the midterms race closer, Republicans appear to be continuing to gain traction with Latino voters, a key constituency in winning control of Congress in 2022. While Democrats initially denied that such a demographic shift was even taking place, they are now in a desperate scramble to salvage their support among Hispanics.
Perhaps the clearest indicator of Democrats’ struggles with Hispanics has been President Joe Biden’s performance with the group. Though Biden won Hispanics 59%-38% in 2020, that represented a net 17-point decline from Hillary Clinton’s 66%-28% margin in 2016. Moreover, Biden’s approval rating with Hispanics is now hovering below 30%, one of his most dismal ratings among any demographic.

The White House website, which does a good job of preserving his every official utterance, allowed me to read his remarks on Sunday at the Pentagon's ceremony observing the 21st anniversary of the day al-Qaeda terrorists attacked America. It was almost a decent speech, right up until the end, when he dragged in political correctness and partisan politics — and that spoiled the whole thing.

Mr. Unity is dead—never having any chance to bring together a nation with an agenda that only favors the ‘woke,’ educated, and wealthy. In other words, people who live on the coasts and in cities. The other side is that he could never articulate his intentions since he’s dementia ridden. When Biden can enunciate with the help of drugs, it consistently demonizes people who didn’t vote for him. Down With Electric Vehicles!
Are people finally starting to catch on to the fact that electric vehicles are a terrible idea? I hope so. Bjorn Lomborg makes the case in accessible form in the Wall Street Journal. To begin with, EVs don’t even save much on CO2 emissions:
Over its lifetime, an electric car does emit less CO2 than a gasoline car, but the difference can range considerably depending on how the electricity is generated. Making batteries for electric cars also requires a massive amount of energy, mostly from burning coal in China.

As we observed the 21st anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday, two thoughts came to mind: First, of course, remembering the thousands of heroes and victims who perished on that awful day.
Second, recalling how much we got wrong in the aftermath.
President George W. Bush addressed the nation on September 20, 2001, fingering the terrorist group al-Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden as the culprits for the attacks. This would lead to America’s longest war in Afghanistan where we ultimately accomplished nothing, and a long war in Iraq that was just as pointless and had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.

There have been many critiques of polling errors in recent years, especially after the 2016 presidential election. However, polling has always tended to skew toward the Democrats, and the results in several races in the last decade have been very surprising for some politicos. If you pay attention to the polling right now, however, there are some signs that the same errors that have overinflated Democrats’ confidence in the past might be doing so again.
Polling analyst Nate Cohn at the New York Times has a piece out this morning that throws a bit of cold water on Democrats’ expectations for keeping the Senate.

In many ways, Joe Biden's presidency is a baffling one.
He's down in the polls, his policies are disasters, but unlike, say, Bill Clinton, he can't change course, or moderate his direction, not even to save his presidency.
He's particularly rigid on some of these policies, such as the green agenda, even as the voters say 'no' and the obvious political consequences of that are coming for him.
So what gives? Is he simply too old to change? That doesn't explain it, because he's been a political weather vane for the duration of his entire career.
Something is going on, and RealClearPolitics's Philip Wegmann may have put his finger on it.

I want to recommend an article by Russia observer Gilbert Doctorow, which was linked by Moon of Alabama. The article ranges widely, but I’ll focus for the most part on the issue raised in the title:
U.S. ups the ante: are we indeed headed into WWIII and what can save us?
(Snip) In the last few days we have officially learned—from no less than Fiona Hill!—what has long been known. Russia and Ukraine, in April, were on the verge of a peace agreement. That was back in April, when the two sides were meeting and talking in Istanbul.

In comparison to Joe Biden, Barack Obama appears to be a picture of probity, wisdom, and dignity.
But in reality, he's just a more unflappable liar, and now that Democrats are on the rocks in the polls, he's cribbed a page from Ronald Reagan, a man he's always had a curious fascination for, claiming that: “The country is better off than when you took office. We should all be deeply grateful for that.”
If Obama were ask that as a question, the way Reagan once did, the open-ended answer would not have been to his liking, so Obama supplied the answer, too.
He was all gaslighting.

There is growing hand-wringing among the devil's den in D.C. that the American people's cratering confidence in the Department of Injustice and Fascist Bureau of Investigation will lead to absolute anarchy in the streets. Considering both institutions have been vocal cheerleaders for Black Lives Matter and Antifa domestic terrorists and that Democrats' war on police and support for open borders have succeeded in producing skyrocketing crime rates throughout the country without any pushback from Merrick Garland or Chris Wray, their mercurial concern for the rule of law seems grounded in nothing more than risible self-interest. They don't trust us! Worse, they don't fear us!

When he wasn’t admiring his White House portrait, Barack Obama managed to say a nice thing about President Joe Biden. He must have been joking, though, because what he said defies reality.
“Joe, it is now America’s good fortune to have you as president,” Obama said. “The country is better off than when you took office. We should all be deeply grateful for that.”
Our “good fortune”? Let’s review just how much “better off” we all are thanks to Biden and his fellow Democrats.

Georgia Democrats are wringing their hands about the lackluster performance of their gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, in her long-anticipated rematch with incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. They kept their worries to themselves until the New York Times ran a story last Wednesday that highlighted complaints by local Democrats that she hasn’t bothered to reach out to crucial constituencies. It appears that Abrams, having been showered by obsequious media coverage since Kemp defeated her in 2018, was overconfident about her chances of beating him this year and took her base supporters for granted.

The sound of Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson on Friday's PBS NewsHour underlined how there is no debate and no democracy on PBS. They put on a RINO who says the GOP is simply awful, and the liberal on the panel says "Oh, I agree!" Republicans pay taxes to be painted as awful for opposing the murder of unborn babies.
Gerson was the chief speechwriter for President George W. Bush, a moderate Christian conservative. Bush nominated Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the majority opinion overturning Roe vs. Wade.

Trump-backed Kari Lake is poised to have the debate stage all to herself after her Democratic opponent for Arizona governor refused to accept the format.
Katie Hobbs, the current Arizona secretary of state, must "respectfully decline" an invitation for the debate scheduled for Oct. 12, her campaign manager said on Sunday. The decision comes after Citizens Clean Elections Commission, the state agency that sets up debates, rejected her request to alter the format into separate 30-minute "town hall-style" interviews as opposed to a direct face-off

Far-left Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) included the 9/11 hijackers among “those who lost their lives” on that fateful day 21 years ago.
Though 2,977 people were killed in the attacks on September 11, 2001, Jayapal added an extra 19 to her commemorative death toll in a tribute on her Instagram and Twitter, bringing the number up to 2,996. Jayapal deleted the tweet and edited her Instagram after the immediate backlash.
“Today, we remember the 2,996 people who were killed on 9/11 and all those who lost their lives while serving our country in the forever wars that followed,” she initially tweeted.
People on Twitter noted that Jayapal made the same “mistake”

We live in an era of stark political division, but there's at least one aspect of politics both sides agree on: a maximum age limit for elected officials. Most feel that after a certain age they should not be permitted to hold office.
There isn't just agreement across political lines, but across demographic groups, like age, too. Young and old, including seniors, favor maximum age limits for elected officials.
And far more Americans believe additional young people in elected office would be a positive for U.S. politics than a negative. (snip) Age 70 is the top answer chosen.
