Tacoma, Wash.—A metallurgist in Washington state pleaded guilty to fraud Monday after she spent decades faking the results of strength tests on steel that was being used to make U.S. Navy submarines.
Elaine Marie Thomas, 67, of Auburn, Washington, was the director of metallurgy at a foundry in Tacoma that supplied steel castings used by Navy contractors Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding to make submarine hulls. From 1985 through 2017, Thomas falsified the results of strength and toughness tests for at least 240 productions of steel—about half the steel the foundry produced for the Navy, according to her plea agreement, filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Tacoma.

Can 10 months really make a real difference in America? Not normally. But weld together a hard-left socialist agenda with the control of the White House and Congress onto the combined forces of progressive woke media, Silicon Valley, the corporate boardrooms, the entertainment industry, academia, and the Wall Street borg—all in the age of instant and intrusive communications—and it’s no wonder a country, even a nation as resilient as the United States, can descend quite quickly in ways that make America almost unrecognizable. In other words, 40 weeks of relentless Bidenism finally permeates most of the nation.

We’ve written before about how the prosecution seems to have been imploding its own case in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse. There was the opening statement where the prosecutor, Thomas Binger, claimed that Rittenhouse was chasing Joseph Rosenbaum rather than the truth that it was the other way around. Then he questioned his own witnesses without seeming to know what they would answer — with Richie McGinniss saying Rosenbaum lunged at Rittenhouse, said “F**k you!” and grabbed Rittenhouse’s gun and Ryan Balch saying Rosenbaum threatened to kill him and Rittenhouse.
Today was perhaps the capper of them all that completely blew up the case. The defense was questioning Gaige Grosskreutz

My friend who reads the New York Times alerted me to this article about rural America’s continued movement away from the Democratic party. I’m glad he did. The article is well worth reading.
The most noteworthy thing about the Times’ piece is the numbers it presents from Virginia:
In 2008, there were only four small Virginia counties where Republicans won 70% or more of the vote in that year’s presidential race. Nowhere was the party above 75%. This year, Youngkin was above 70% in 45 counties — and he surpassed 80% in 15 of them.
Virginia has 95 counties. The Times doesn’t say how many of them are rural,

Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Richard Clarida said on Nov. 8 that inflation this year has been far higher than the Fed expected, and while he still believes inflationary pressures are transitory and will dissipate “over time,” a longer run of elevated prices would amount to a policy failure on the part of the central bank.

President Biden appears to be suffering from a bad case of malarkey syndrome. A textbook example was presented last week when he was asked about his administration’s proposal to pay up to $450,000 compensation per person to illegal migrant families that had been separated under the Trump administration.
It was “garbage,” “not true” and “not gonna happen,” he told Fox News’ Peter Doocy at a White House press conference Wednesday.
The president was so emphatic, it seemed to be an open-and-shut case. The Wall Street Journal’s story revealing the Department of Justice negotiations with migrant families must be wrong.

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team.
There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the ability to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation.
In Colorado in 2021, legislation was passed banning the use of American Indian mascots, broadly defined.

We’ve seen a lot of freak-outs now from folks on the left about the saying “Let’s go, Brandon.”
Perhaps one of the things that is so amusing about media objections is that while they get the saying is a criticism of Joe Biden, they don’t seem to get that it’s also a criticism of the media — that it was a comment on the fake news of the media after an NBC Sports reporter claimed “F**k Joe Biden” was “Let’s go, Brandon.” Most in media still aren’t journalists enough to either have figured that out or to admit it.

The latest indictment by Special Counsel John Durham has created a stir in Washington as the investigation into the Russian collusion scandal exposed new connections to the Clinton campaign. The indictment of Igor Danchenko exposes additional close advisers to Hillary Clinton who allegedly pushed discredited and salacious allegations in the Steele dossier. However, one of the most interesting new elements was the role of a liberal think tank, the Brookings Institution, in the alleged effort to create a false scandal of collusion.
Indeed, Brookings appears so often in accounts related to the Russian collusion scandal that it could be Washington’s alternative to the Kevin Bacon parlor game.

The Biden Administration is considering shutting down a Michigan oil pipeline in another push to get the U.S, away from fossil fuels, despite warnings from Republican lawmakers who believe the move would result in fuel price shocks throughout the Midwest.

Is it just big-mouth social media blather, or is this an actual threat to the jury hearing the Kyle Rittenhouse case in Kenosha? And if it is, what’s being done about it?
George Floyd’s friend, Cortez Rice, who is sometimes referred to as Floyd’s nephew, released a video on Twitter in which he claims he knows people gathering photos and other information about the remaining 18 men and women in the jury pool.
Cortez issued the video as an apparent warning to the jury. In it, he says he didn’t even “want to name the people that I know that is in the Kenosha trial. But there’s cameras in there.

Republicans are leading RealClearPolitics’ [RCP] general ballot for the first time since 2014, according to the analysis website, which averages notable political polls in an effort to forecast election outcomes.
RCP has Republicans up by half a percentage point on its generic congressional vote, showing 43.3 percent support for Republicans and 42.8 percent support for Democrats and potentially foreshadowing a red wave in 2022. Democrats notably maintained the lead in 2020, 2018, and 2016, though RCP showed Republicans ahead by 2.4 percentage points in 2014, halfway through former President Barack Obama’s second term.

This week on MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show,” host Jonathan Capehart responded to a Wall Street Journal editorial directed at him for claiming Glenn Youngkin winning Virginia’s gubernatorial race would be a win for white supremacy. The editorial, noting that Virginia elected Winsome Sears, a black woman, as lieutenant governor, mocked Capehart’s analysis ahead of the election as a “‘racist’ fail.” Capehart argued Sears’ election doesn’t make his assertion wrong .“Whiteness is a hell of a drug. Fear worked, and Youngkin won in a state President Biden won just last year by 10 points,” Capehart stated. “Nice try, but invoking the name of Winsome Sears

America's borders reopen today to thousands of international travelers from the UK, Europe, Mexico, and Canada for the first time since March 2020, when former President Donald Trump slammed the country's ports closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Until now, the only people who have been able to enter the US from those countries are American citizens, green-card holders or those who obtained national interest exemptions from the ban.Starting Monday, travelers can visit the US again from anywhere so long as they prove they are fully vaccinated and have a negative COVID-19 test. The only exemptions to the vaccination requirement is for kids under 18,

Former President Donald Trump, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, said he will "probably" wait until after the 2022 midterm elections to formally announce whether he will run for president in 2024.
"I am certainly thinking about it and we’ll see," Trump said. "I think a lot of people will be very happy, frankly, with the decision, and probably will announce that after the midterms."
The former president said that timeline was "probably appropriate.""It doesn’t mean I will," Trump said of whether he will stick to that timeline. "It’s probably appropriate, but a lot of people are waiting for that decision to be made.

Poor countries, rocked by storms and flooding from climate change, have spent years trying to hold the big carbon-emitters accountable. While most rich nations have fiercely resisted this liability, attendees at COP26 will give it another try in Glasgow next week. The US is the $2 trillion elephant in the room. That figure is a rough estimate (most likely at the very low end) of how much the world’s largest economy could owe other nations if it accepted liability for the “loss and damage” caused by its historical emissions of carbon dioxide, according to Richard Tol, an economics professor at

In this country, it’s your right to own a gun if you so choose.
If you are a gun owner, just know that any action you take with that weapon will be scrutinized, so it is in the best interest of all for you to behave with the utmost care — something we believe a vast majority of gun owners in this country do.
However, road rages can be tricky!
And in a video that we received this morning, we have another example of why the second amendment saves lives even on a heat-up road rage!

We graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology more than 50 years ago. MIT was academically rigorous, and it taught us our crafts and the essence of problem-solving, enabling us to thrive in our careers. We owe much to our alma mater and have donated to it regularly.
No more.
The current MIT administration has caved repeatedly to the demands of “wokeness,” treating its students unfairly, compromising the quality of its staff, and damaging the institution and academic freedom at large. (Snip)Will they redeem themselves by standing for merit and truth, or will they forfeit the support of countless alumni and donors by surrendering to wokeness?

The leading U.S. manufacturer of xylitol-based products says the federal government is deliberately trying to conceal a nasal spray it developed that it says has been scientifically proven to be effective in treating and preventing COVID-19.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in federal court against Utah-based company Xlear on Oct. 28, saying it has deceptively advertised its nasal spray as a treatment and preventative of COVID-19.
The lawsuit asks a federal court to permanently ban the company from promoting the nasal spray as a treatment for COVID-19 and also asks that monetary penalties be levied against it.

Issues & Insights and its polling partner, TIPP, recently wrote (here and here) that only 42% of Americans believe President Joe Biden is “mentally sharp,” while 50% said he isn’t. But other I&I/TIPP data from our same November poll show Biden’s problems with how average Americans perceive him and his leadership go far deeper.
These numbers clearly show that, across a broad swath of the American electorate, Biden has serious issues, with many no longer thinking he has the main common attributes for being a good or competent leader.

Any student of 20th century history will tell you that the Kamikaze strikes carried out against allied naval forces during World War II began long after it was clear that the Axis powers could not hope to win. This series of suicide attacks was nothing more than a futile and destructive exercise in fanaticism. Its sheer perversity was much like the extremist political strategy pursued by the Democrats since their defeat last Tuesday in Virginia and elsewhere. The Democratic leadership, like the fanatics who conceived and executed “Divine Wind,” refuses to face reality or pursue policies that address the genuine problems facing the country.

A major North Carolina airport saw pilots protesting Saturday against President Biden’s new vaccine mandate, as the airline industry already struggles with staffing shortages amid an inoculation push.
A group called the US Freedom Flyers organized a rally outside Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Saturday, as pilots for major airlines and other supported protested against Biden’s latest directive that all private companies with 100 employees or more to enforce a vaccine requirement starting Jan. 4, Fox 8 reported. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Louisiana on Saturday granted an emergency stay of the vaccine requirement by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) denounced President Joe Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm after she said on Sunday that she hopes gas prices do not increase to $4 per gallon. “There’s no reason to “hope” gas prices won’t reach $4 (which it already has in parts of U.S.). Gas prices would go down if Biden stopped hindering the energy sector in America. There’s no reason to beg OPEC for more oil. Texas can produce it & make America energy independent,” the Republican governor said in a tweet.(Tweet) Abbott’s response comes after Granholm told CNN’s Dana Bash that she hopes gas prices will not continue to rise,

Cars were lined up for miles to get into the US from Mexico on Sunday night ahead of the Biden administration lifting travel restrictions on foreign visitors Monday. Travel across land borders from Canada and Mexico has been largely restricted to workers whose jobs are deemed essential for the past 20 months due to the pandemic. The easing of the travel ban will allow the resumption of non-essential travel. US officials urged tourists to have their travel and vaccine documents readily available for border authorities to inspect in anticipation of longer-than-usual wait times at ports of entry.

Kash Patel, former senior Trump administration official and lead investigator exposing Russiagate, said U.S. Attorney John Durham’s recent indictment of Russian Igor Danchenko suggests he is building a larger conspiracy case.
“I think he’s building a bigger conspiracy case, and it’s just going to take time and that’s where he’s going,” Patel said on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday with host Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matt Boyle.
“John Durham’s working hard. He’s only been at for two-plus years. When I was a federal prosecutor, I spent 3, 4, 5 years building some prosecutions, so it takes time, but I think we are heading in the right direction,” he added.

The strangest news story of the last few days relates to multiple FBI raids on the homes of people associated with Project Veritas, including that of founder James O’Keefe. Those who were searched say that the agents were looking for information related to the alleged theft of a diary belonging to Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley, which the New York Times and other news sources have confirmed.
The diary dates to 2019, when Ashley was in a drug rehab facility. It left her possession under circumstances that are not clear. Someone offered it to Project Veritas, saying that Ashley had left it in a room at,

Republicans probably wish the midterms were tomorrow, with the results of the elections this week, and now with the results of a latest poll on Joe Biden.
It’s not looking good for old Joe and the Democrats.
According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll, taken Wednesday through Friday, many of the 1,000 registered voters contacted by pollsters delivered a very bad message to them — following up on the rebuke they got on Tuesday in the elections.
Biden has the worst approval rating of anyone at this point in his term, 38 to 59 percent, except for President Donald Trump who was constantly being assailed by the leftist media,
