Sure — your house might beat the pants off your neighbors’. But let’s talk real-world metrics: How woke was the system that led to its erection? As we continue to learn, there’s no area where social justice can’t prevail. Apropos of such ascendancy, welcome to the world of architectural enlightenment. At the University of Minnesota, they’re taking wrecking balls to structural racism. “Several (job) openings,” UM’s website announces, are “centered in Design Justice.” In addition to architecture, fields set for racialized renovation include graphic design, product design, and interior design. All of you professors itching for a new gig, see if the following philosophy tickles your fancy:

How do you design a non-racist building? Or.... how do you design a racist building? Or.....is this nothing more than driving Caucasians out of the business of designing, building and providing materials for construction???

A new school of Woke Nutrition could have Woke Digestion, Woke Preparations, Woke Swallowing, and Woke Excretion. The last of those would, of course, be a lab course and have an option for Masters Thesis credit.

What a bunch of liberal woke gobldey goo. That was the longest description that said exactly nothing about architecture or design. It was heavy on wokeness and racial "equity" for BIPOC students and staff that meant a lot of nothing. What will they be taught to design? Mud huts with tree stumps for furniture, dirt floors, and charcoal drawings on the walls for art? If they are going full woke and anti white/western values, they need to stick with culturally appropriate building methods. Maybe they can specialize in designing tents, as that is where their graduates will end up living when they join the ranks of the unemployed and homeless.

I meant to make a comment, but previous posters beat me to it. The writer fails to refer to the Rat's previous attempt to politicize architecture in pulling the LEEDS scam, wherein your proposed building must comply with onerous and expensive specs before a permit is issued or a needed variance can be approved. One last thing: In my 45 years in architecture, I don't recall designing a home or commercial property with a client insisting I take their race into the design.

Architecture is still based on math, and math is not racist. Regardless of what the woke crowd says. A number of civilizations have their own unique architecture, some of it going back millennia. Consider ancient China, Egypt, Rome, and Greece. Excluding Egypt, name one civilization in Africa that we know of that goes back more than 500 years. Much of what was built in Africa was made of wood which would not last a millennia. Name one ancient building in Africa. Not many stone buildings in Africa. African tribes are somewhat nomadic. Water dries up or the herd animals migrate, and the tribes would be forced to move. fewer permanent settlements. They want to remove racism from architecture? What architecture does Africa have? Or are students of UM going to be trained to build pagodas?

In response to the sport’s media’s quest to get Aaron Rodgers canceled from his many lucrative sponsorship deals after seeking Covid treatment advice from the left’s chief Covid nemesis Joe Rogan, State Farm Insurance has decided to stand by their man. In a statement to USA Today, a State Farm spokesman made it clear that the company encourages vaccinations and backs the right to make a “personal” choice. “We encourage vaccinations, but respect everyone’s right to make a choice based on their personal circumstances,” State Farm told USA Today.

We’ve seen a lot of freak-outs now from folks on the left about the saying “Let’s go, Brandon.” Perhaps one of the things that is so amusing about media objections is that while they get the saying is a criticism of Joe Biden, they don’t seem to get that it’s also a criticism of the media — that it was a comment on the fake news of the media after an NBC Sports reporter claimed “F**k Joe Biden” was “Let’s go, Brandon.” Most in media still aren’t journalists enough to either have figured that out or to admit it.

The Summit caught a fascinating story out of Italy: the Italian Higher Institute of Health decided it had miscounted COVID deaths. Instead of looking at people who died with COVID, as it once did, it looked only at people who died from COVID — leading to a 97% decrease in Italy's COVID death count. So far, the CDC shows no signs of following suit. According to The Summit: The Italian Higher Institute of Health has drastically reduced the country's official COVID death toll number by over 97 per cent after changing the definition of a fatality to someone who died from COVID rather than with COVID.

What happened to Donald Trump in 2016 and beyond dwarfed Watergate. Most of the media not only didn't care about the corruption of the Democrats, but were also major participants in seeking to destroy a candidate, and later president, they didn't like. Special counsel John Durham has started to hit paydirt with three arrests so far, the tip of the iceberg, and the story is essentially buried because the media don't care, and they don't want the public to know the truth. If the public learns the truth, they will see how dishonest, corrupt, and dangerous the media are.

Monitoring systems to stop drunk drivers would roll out in all new vehicles as early as 2026, according to the new legislation.
