MIT alums: We can’t support a school
that caved to woke mentality

Original Article

We graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology more than 50 years ago. MIT was academically rigorous, and it taught us our crafts and the essence of problem-solving, enabling us to thrive in our careers. We owe much to our alma mater and have donated to it regularly. No more. The current MIT administration has caved repeatedly to the demands of “wokeness,” treating its students unfairly, compromising the quality of its staff, and damaging the institution and academic freedom at large. (Snip)Will they redeem themselves by standing for merit and truth, or will they forfeit the support of countless alumni and donors by surrendering to wokeness?

The key is the authors' beginning - 'We graduated...more than 50 years ago'. Unless these three are merely a small subset of 'un-awoke' alums who will withold critically generous financial support from MIT - it is too late. Wokeism has poisoned damn near every university campus for the last 2+ generations and too many of those alums will be immune to these pleas. Without catastrophic financial pressures college boards and administrators will have no reason to change. At a minimum it will require closure of schools to really wake the rest up. I wish I could be hopeful.

My grandfather graduated MIT during WWI and my father during WWII. They would both be outraged by what the Institute has become. My father died 9 years ago at age 90 and I’m sure that he had long since quit donating.

Excellent points. Every alumni should apply the same 5 points to their school before considering a donations. I am going to print the 5 points and send to my school to let them know why I have lost interest in supporting their mission.

It is not just MIT. It is most every school, even most of those schools teaching seminary leadership of tomorrow. 'I AM' tells us that in the last days just before the return of Jesus and 'I AM' everybody will be worshiping Lucifer (Satan). All except His 'very elect' who will refuse Lucifer's temptations and threats by allowing 'I AM' to speak through their mouths when they are brought up before Lucifer as he orders them to worship him or suffer death. 2 Timothy 3:1-7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (sexual lust) 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Thank you, Thank you, to the authors of this letter. For standing up, SAYing something and DOing something that many of us cannot. I hope your letter inspires many more alumni to speak up. Moreover, redirecting your donations to more worthy institutions (Hilldale College comes to mind) would be icing on the cake.

My husband graduated from MIT with an advance degree in engineering. He stopped sending his yearly support in 2010. Even with the great number of alums who are opposed to wokeness, they have very little sway in the academic world. Current heads, and the involvement of big govt and big corp in the financial issues on campuses, alums are just a gnat that will be swatted aside or squashed.

With the exception of some schools associated with churches, it's like this everywhere. A long time ago any kind of homosexual activity was a felony everywhere. Now it is celebrated as an alternative lifestyle. People with different viewpoints were invited to participate in discussions. Now it's my way or the highway. Schools used to act as filters to eliminate people who don't belong in college. Now we want you to get a degree no matter what. So there are only two types of letters that go unopened into the trash: requests that I give my alma mater money and anything from the AARP.

How the mighty have fallen. MIT used to be the absolute gold standard for graduating the smartest scientists in the land. Wokeism is poisoning everything, and it is sad to see. Worst thing to happen to the teaching profession was/is tenure. Prohibits parents that pay the salaries of these professionals from cleaning out the rot since they won't do it themselves. Tenure and Unions are the rot of society right now.

I'd love to tell the 'tute that their descent into woke insanity is ending my support; but it was their unabashed embrace of the "climate change" fraud (about 20 years ago) that made me stop even opening their alumni fundraising mail.

Last week, the United Kingdom approved a new antiviral pill (molnupiravir). Studies show the drug reduces the risk of hospitalization and death among high-risk COVID patients by half. U.S. taxpayers funded molnupiravir’s development. Yet the U.S. Food and Drug Administration isn’t even meeting to consider approval until Nov. 30. Molnupiravir is the latest example of the FDA denying patients their most important health care right — the right to make their own health decisions — by prohibiting them from getting drugs that have received approval in other advanced countries.(Snip)Between 2000 and 2010, the FDA blocked U.S. patients from accessing a total of 37 novel drugs available in Canada and Europe.
