Nearly two dozen Texas House Democrats who fled the state last month have sued Gov. Greg Abbott and other Republican officials, alleging that GOP efforts to bring them back to the state Capitol for a special legislative session infringed on their constitutional rights. The 22 plaintiffs have been "deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment," the complaint filed late Friday alleges. [snip] The lawsuit also alleges that some of the Democrats were targeted due to race, but did not provide evidence, the Texas Tribune reported.
If they're suffering distress from being separated from their families, go home! Unless you're the ones in Europe on vacation with your family.

You can sue a watermelon for being too green, but that doesn't mean you'll get anything from it.
They are idiots, on their best days, but more accurately saboteurs currently. Let's hope that a lot bad happens to them, and ultimately they lose their upcoming elections.

State Reps. Jessica González and Julie Johnson suffered so much anxiety and distress that they vacationed on a beach in Portugal. Can you say special elections for all of the Dems who left Texas?

""Our Dems in DC said they’d appreciate care packages from home," the organization wrote in a tweet. "Before 5pm Tues, we're collecting Dr. Pepper, salsa, hard candy, hairspray, travel toiletries, hand sanitizers, sewing kits, first aid, and/ or $ to pay shipping. TY!""
Are they suing for more Miller-Lite?
BTW,
March 17, 2017
"The Commission for Lawyer Discipline brought a disciplinary action against appellant Craig A. Washington, an attorney, alleging that he violated several provisions of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. A jury found in favor of the Commission on each of the allegations, and the trial court imposed sanctions against Washington that included a four-year suspension from the practice of law with the first 18 months being an active suspension and the remaining 30 months being probated."
Well isn't that special.

Somewhere along the line it has become possible to sue about anything. There was no hard transition, just an evolution, until that is where we are now. At one time, Judges refused the case, but no more. Judges look and see if it is a Republican. If so, then it is thrown out.

Give it up and take your loss, and stop acting like petulant little 2-year old's that need a good spanking.
You can embarrass a clown, which you should all know instinctively since you are all a bunch of them.

How did these fools get elected? If they worked for any major corporation they would be promptly fired. I'm including Amazon, Apple, Google, etc.

Need to lose their paychecks (staff also) and automatically be "recalled/removed" every elected official that misses 5 consecutive days of scheduled duty days, unless medical excused by physician.

These malfunctioning muttonheads climbed on the flying beer wagon under their own power. The stress and embarrassment is all on them but, like good little democrats, it's somebody else's fault. By staying one plane ticket away from home they are denying the constitutional rights of the idiots who elected them and expected them to represent their needs at home. Their families are probably glad to be rid of them for a while.

Lets see, they fled the state so that they wouldn't have to do the jobs they were elected to do. They should be suffering from discomfort, and even more so they should be embarrassed at what treasonous cowards they have been!!!
Come home and do your freakin' jobs, you hate-filled cowards!!!!

If they want to talk about discomfort and separation from their families maybe they should start talking to the 330 million people who were forced into lockdown for months on end. People were prevented from visiting relatives in their homes and even from the bedsides of dying grandparents, husbands, wives, children, etc, etc ,etc. And those evil idiots languishing in DC and Portugal are the very people who inflicted all of that discomfort and separation from family on the population.

Their pay could have been docked for all work days missed. Was it? Governor Abbott SAID live and in living color he would arrest them upon landing in Austin. He would escort them back to Capitol for special session. Will he?

Gov. Abbott massively messed up with the over-reaction to Covid last year. And he knows it.
So he is working over-time to earn back his conservative credentials. This is not a time to test him, since arresting the lot of them and dragging them to the Congressional chambers would definitely help with that goal. And, after seeing him actually fighting hard the last couple of months, I do believe he is going to take drastic and very public action to punish these cowards as soon as he can.
In normal times, it might not have happened. But these are not "normal times", and he knows his re-election is on the line. I actually believe that he is going to follow through!!!
