Nearly two dozen Texas House Democrats who fled the state last month have sued Gov. Greg Abbott and other Republican officials, alleging that GOP efforts to bring them back to the state Capitol for a special legislative session infringed on their constitutional rights. The 22 plaintiffs have been "deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment," the complaint filed late Friday alleges. [snip] The lawsuit also alleges that some of the Democrats were targeted due to race, but did not provide evidence, the Texas Tribune reported.

If they're suffering distress from being separated from their families, go home! Unless you're the ones in Europe on vacation with your family.

You can sue a watermelon for being too green, but that doesn't mean you'll get anything from it. They are idiots, on their best days, but more accurately saboteurs currently. Let's hope that a lot bad happens to them, and ultimately they lose their upcoming elections.

Somewhere along the line it has become possible to sue about anything. There was no hard transition, just an evolution, until that is where we are now. At one time, Judges refused the case, but no more. Judges look and see if it is a Republican. If so, then it is thrown out.

If they want to talk about discomfort and separation from their families maybe they should start talking to the 330 million people who were forced into lockdown for months on end. People were prevented from visiting relatives in their homes and even from the bedsides of dying grandparents, husbands, wives, children, etc, etc ,etc. And those evil idiots languishing in DC and Portugal are the very people who inflicted all of that discomfort and separation from family on the population.

Gov. Abbott massively messed up with the over-reaction to Covid last year. And he knows it. So he is working over-time to earn back his conservative credentials. This is not a time to test him, since arresting the lot of them and dragging them to the Congressional chambers would definitely help with that goal. And, after seeing him actually fighting hard the last couple of months, I do believe he is going to take drastic and very public action to punish these cowards as soon as he can. In normal times, it might not have happened. But these are not "normal times", and he knows his re-election is on the line. I actually believe that he is going to follow through!!!
