President Joe Biden hopes to rein in supposed unfair practices in the railroad and ocean shipping industries as part of a sweeping executive order addressing competitiveness. The order will be issued in the coming days and will encourage the federal agencies regulating railroads and ocean shipping to take various actions that the White House believes will promote competition and lower prices for U.S. consumers, a source familiar with the plans told the Washington Examiner.[snip] The executive order on competition is broad in nature and doesn’t just address railroads and ocean shipping but is an attempt to target the biggest businesses while encouraging more competition. Why is Congress even needed if Biden is going to rule everything from the White House?

Why, oh why, can’t democrats leave businesses alone?! I know the answer, but still, they should go after real crime, like border crashing, gangs, rioters, etc!

If these morons currently operating in the WH reeeaallyy want competition, maybe they could do something about their monopolistic big tech buddies that stole the election for them, but then they'd never "win" again.

My business has been very negatively impacted by high shipping costs, but the *last* thing I want is Government "help"!

I can assure you, every possible shipping asset is being deployed around the globe. Practically every ship is operating and chartered, every container is being used, every chassis too.
They can't build containers fast enough.
One of the arguments by the exporters is they aren't willing to pay a commensurate rate for what they need.
Few imported containers are destined for the areas for most export commodities.
And, most want 21 days free time at destination for their containers.
When an ocean carrier can flip that same container, if shipped empty to say Shanghai, within the week of it's arrival, and put on a vessel with high-paying cargo to support the expanding e-Commerce business demand.

Sounds like a whole bunch of new rules telling shippers how to do their jobs and how much they can charge for their services (according to what the government and their corporate friends think is "fair"). Sounds like some of the rules implemented in the beginning of Atlas Shrugged.

Is this a violation of any RICO laws?
Does the gov't think that it can exempt itself?

All fines will travel to and pay for more democrat feather bedding - a quasi-legal slush fund similar to the CFPB under Squaw Warren. Bet on it. This reason is why the order was given.

The pair that gave us "Clintons", Buffet and Tyson.....Are NOT Amused. Buuut....maybe Buffet negotiated this in exchange for the ending of various pipelines, insuring his tank car/RR businesses remain in control of that oil transport?

How about addressing the government interference in pipelines vs. Warren Buffet's railroads?

Directive 10-289. There was a book written in the 50s that I thought was cautionary, I did not know it was prophecy. I do know the left hates and has always hated the author.

If the WH wants competition, maybe we could set up a second WH with Trump as President. I would elect to be governed by the Trump WH.
