Sens. Todd Young (R-IN) and Chris Coons (D-DE) introduced a bill last month that would expand the federal judiciary by 77 judges, starting in 2025, after the current presidential term.Democrats have been expressing a wish to expand the number of Supreme Court justices, so that President Joe Biden can appoint four new justices to override the current 6-3 majority of Republican appointees. Some have advocated a milder approach, expanding the lower courts first. The new bill, called the Judicial Understaffing Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act, says that “The Judicial Conference of the United States requested the creation of 77 new district judges in its 2021 report,”

Any bill co-sponsored by a democrat must be bad for the GOP and bad for the country.

The system needs to be stacked with more radical leftist judges the radical leftist lawyers can use, offsetting the sane ones appointed by our rightful president.

Congress already cannot confirm huge numbers of appointees for sometimes years after appointment, so lets add 77 more federal judges.
Add them if you want, but unless you are changing the number of federal districts as well (like breaking up the 9th Circus), then expansion of the SC is not warranted. The article doesn't really address this.
This whole thing is being proffered under the guise of reducing the huge backlog of cases, but this is probably just subterfuge for changing the ideological makeup of SCOTUS.

I've got to give it to the Dems! They're masters at creating chaos on countless fronts which prevents us from focusing on any one or two. We're too busy reeling from the daily dictats coming down the pike.
Unfortunately, the RINO's walk in lockstep with them while WTP are trying to fight back.

Why do we even need judges or courts? Every man can be a law unto themselves. The electeds sure are.

How about the judges we have do their jobs. Stop allowing so much courtroom theatrics and make decisions faster. Why does it take so long for so decisions to be made? Either the law permits something or it doesn't. How about a 1 page decision yes or no the day after hearing arguments.

It is most likely that there will be a mutual embrace between Todd Young and the RINO Trio - Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt "Pierre Delecto" Romney.

The shortage of Article III court judges is probably insufficient numbers of appointments and too few judgeships currently authorized by Congress.
Most people associated with these courts, including judges and their staffs, attorneys whose practice involves Article III courts, and ESPECIALLY LITIGANTS, will agree there are too few sitting Article III court judges. The docket backlogs seem to be unnecessary, if not nearly intolerable.
Congress has authorized 677 District Court Judges, 179 Court of Appeals Judges, 9 justices for the U.S. Supreme Court, and 9 judges for the United States Court of International Trade.
After less than ample research I've not been able to discover how many of the current Article III judgeships authorized by Congress are currently vacant.
BIDEN: As of August 1, Biden made 8 judicial nominations.
TRUMP: During his 4 year term the total number of Trump Article III judgeship nominees to be confirmed by the United States Senate was 234, including three associate justices of the Supreme Court, 54 judges for the United States courts of appeals, 174 judges for the United States district courts, and 3 to the United States Court of International Trade.
OBAMA: During his 8 years in office, the total number of Obama Article III judgeship nominees to be confirmed by the United States Senate is 329, including 2 justices to the Supreme Court, 55 judges to the United States Courts of Appeals, 268 judges to the United States district courts, and 4 judges to the United States Court of International Trade.

What is Sen. Young doing even speaking to that mendacious Sen. Coons? When Republicans go across the aisle, they end up with their (and our) pockets picked and the country moved further left. Stop!

Todd Young is a lawyer, (like most of them). Why do your laws require so many lawyers? Judges are lawyers, why do we need so many judges? If our ruling class were all plumbers the law would require a lot more plumber jobs and they would average $200K a year. You get what you pay for. Want more homeless, pay more. Want more unemployed, pay more. Want more judicial bureaucracy? How about they do their jobs efficiently like they used to.

More government...just what WE need... I'm reminded what President Reagan said..."most terrifying words spoken are....I'm from the government and I'm here to help you"...I hate to be cynical...but... what judge has ruled by constitutional grounds recently... WE law abiding citizens look for justice...but WE get woke justice served by a cult of socialists...the DC swamp has it's boot on our necks....

If there is a need, expanding the number of district judges isn't the issue. Politics is. Let's add the judges over time, like the next two decades. Add 10 or 12 after each of the next eight presidential elections. Or, five after each of the mid-terms. If we're going to be led in chains, at least let us influence the elevation of our betters over time.

Anyone who doesn't see that this is a blatant attempt to water down the overall percentage of Trump's appointments is a damn fool.
And leave it to a RINO to lead the judicial assassination attempt. Thanks a lot Senator Young. Et tu, Brute?

Who is Todd Young? Inquiring minds in Idaho would like to know who the crazies are in Indiana. Thought Indiana was conservative and patriotic. BTW shouldn't Indiana change their name ...Indian(a) appropriating an ethnicity? Calling Race Hustlers....
p.s. Sorry we asked Indiana about Todd Young, we apologize for our Rino Senators Risch and Crapo from the conservative and patriotic State of Idaho.

Using the signature of Todd Young is supposed to make us believe it is a bipartisan effort. Search out https://www.uscourts.gov/careers/benefits The pay is only part of the total compensation package you will receive working for the federal Judiciary. Employees have a group of benefit programs and family friendly utilities to meet the needs of most families. Most judges are appointed for life. Sweet!
