The media is filled with stories about how the Democrats are planning to refuse to accept Donald Trump’s impending victory, with speculation about cheating, lawsuits, and the odd military coup. Leaving aside the bizarre notion that our troops are eager to risk their lives to kill their friends and family for the benefit of the liberal establishment and the military-industrial complex – which the Democrats have suddenly embraced as something awesome – in order to impose that creepy old weirdo from the basement upon America, the challenges are real but they are also overblown. Don’t panic. Prepare. Work to get out the patriotic American vote.

If the idea of a November spent hunkered down at home with mass protests and violence again roiling the streets sounds appealing, don't worry: The left has a plan for that. A coalition of influential progressive groups—including the SEIU, AFT, Color of Change, Indivisible, MoveOn, and Demos—is organizing, the Daily Beast reports, for "mass public unrest": "Occupy shit, hold space, and shut things down, not just on Election Day but for weeks." Only a fool would think that this "nonviolent civil disobedience" will stay nonviolent after a summer that's seen over 500 riots across the nation.

San Francisco and the Bay Area woke up under prolonged darkness today, in scenes that resemble Martian landscapes or a nuclear winter. The sky lightened briefly around 9 a.m. in some places, but then continued to get darker again, as atmospheric smoke casts the city in a perpetual twilight of red and orange. Fine ash rains over it all. Despite the orange haze, the air at ground level is breathable, with a current AQI of 78 (safe for all but the unusually sensitive, who should avoid exertion). The colored skies are the result of heavy layers of wildfire smoke above the fog, some of it washing down
Cringeworthy Study Debunked: There Was

There was not a “Sturgis superspreader” event infecting hundreds of thousands with COVID-19 at a cost of billions to American taxpayers. A recent study claimed that the annual motorcycle rally held last month in Sturgis, South Dakota was a “superspreader event” infecting more than half of the 460,000 attendees at a cost of $12 billion to our public health institutions. The Sturgis event happened, in that same wonderfully crazy way that the Sturgis rally always happens. The “Sturgis superspreader” event did not happen. Not even a little.

There go the Oscars.Forget merit, now filmmakers will have to subject their art to Orwellian tests of identitarian purity if it is to be eligible for a Best Picture award. In the latest act of craven capitulation to the BLM-Antifa mob, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decreed Tuesday that no movie can win the top award unless it satisfies a set of genetically and sexually diverse quotas. For example, lead actors must be from an “underrepresented racial or ethnic group . . . Asian, Latinx, Black, Native American, Middle Eastern, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.”
Is Joe Biden another Tom Dewey? replies

Joe Biden and Thomas Dewey don’t seem similar. When Dewey ran for president in 1948 (his second attempt as the Republican nominee), he was 46 years old. He had been a brilliant prosecutor and was the successful governor of New York, then the nation’s largest state. Biden is 77 years old. He’s been in politics longer than Dewey had been alive when he ran in 1948. He didn’t distinguish himself during his brief legal career and has never been in charge of running a governmental entity. Dewey was a man of firm principles. For example, during his the 1948 Republican primaries, he opposed outlawing the Communist Party,

According to last February’s ratings, 93 percent of us are already not watching the Academy Awards. Now Oscar is wondering: How do I whittle down that last 7 percent? Answer: woke quotas. That thunk you heard coming out of La-La Land on Tuesday was the sound of the Academy grandly planting its face in the sidewalk by announcing it was formally rejecting the pursuit of artistic quality in favor of a byzantine quota system. Starting with 2024 films, your project can’t even be considered for a Best Picture Oscar unless it meets a set of diversity targets

Biden’s Lethal Latino Problem replies

Joe Biden has the weakest Latino support of any recent Democratic presidential nominee. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama each received more than 70 percent of their votes, and 66 percent cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Former Vice President Biden, however, appears to be on track to capture as little as 60 percent of the Latino vote. Considering that Latinos constitute more than 10 percent of eligible voters in a dozen states, including crucial battlegrounds such as Florida (20 percent) and Arizona (23 percent), it’s difficult to see how Biden can win a majority in the Electoral College

“Crazy” was the term the FBI agent used to describe the behavior of Christopher Steele, author of the now-debunked Trump-Russia dossier. “I've seen crazy source-related stuff in 20 years in New York and this was one of the craziest," the veteran agent testified to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Nevertheless, the FBI continued to rely on Steele’s allegations – that Donald Trump and his team were conspiring with Russians who possessed compromising information – to justify its surveillance of the Trump campaign. Without evidence to verify Steele’s claims, the FBI fell back on its assertion that the former British intelligence agent was reliable. The previously unreported testimony

CLAIM: There have been 6,114 U.S. military deaths from coronavirus. VERDICT: FALSE. There have been seven. Former Vice President Joe Biden has been attacking President Donald Trump for remarks that The Atlantic claimed he made about dead soldiers in war (and which over twenty witnesses have publicly refuted). On Wednesday, Biden commented on soldiers who had died during the coronavirus pandemic — and overstated the number by a factor of nearly one thousand. Biden was speaking to members of the United Auto Workers in Michigan. After fumbling about for a card listing U.S. military deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq, which he said he always kept with him —

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden misspoke during a campaign stop in Michigan, incorrectly saying that over 6,000 U.S. military members have died from the novel coronavirus. Speaking in Warren, Mich., Biden cited the number of confirmed cases and deaths from COVID-19 in Michigan as being the numbers for the military, saying the armed forces had seen 118,984 cases and 6,114 deaths. Shortly after the event, Biden’s campaign quickly clarified that Biden had mixed up the numbers for Michigan with those from military. As of Wednesday, only seven members of the military had died from COVID-19.(Snip)As of Wednesday, only seven members of the military had died from COVID-19.
