Woodward and Bernstein’s take on anonymous
sources reveals media incompetence

Famed Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (“Woodstein”) have recently weighed in on the use of anonymous sources in the reporting of President Trump’s alleged slurs of deceased soldiers. While they use their iconic status to support the “truth” spoken by such unnamed witnesses, they unwittingly prove the profound incapability of modern journalism in its assumed role as the arbiter of truth. There can be no better example of this than Woodstein’s discussion of their use of anonymous sources in Watergate. These sources, Woodstein argues, were all proven truthful and brought down a sitting president. Therefore, they contend, the present anonymous sources must be

So, if anonymous sources used by demonrat reporters are assumed to be telling the truth, does that mean that anonymous sources used by Republican reporters are also telling the truth and must be believed? We all know the answer to that one.

Nixon had people who made really bad decisions and he tried to keep them out of trouble. There was a burglary and men got arrested. It all went downhill for Nixon. In Trump’s case, all the lies were generated out of thin air. There was no there, there. No comparison to Watergate, which was vastly blown out of proportion and the Dems milked it for everything they could squeeze out of it.

Woodward is little more than a prostitute, ditto the awful Bernschwein! Both of them are full of themselves, they should not be proud of themselves. 3rs rate lefty hacks. "Anonymous sources"?? Of course lefties defend it. Half of their crap is based on anonymous sources.... you can make up anything you want and claim 'anonymous sources'. What bothers me that the President bothered with low life Woodward to give him an interview after having been set up/talked into it by Graham. Who can stand that hick accent and voice for 10 seconds???

Actually, what the Deep Throat proved was the FBI is corrupted to its very core. A petty deputy director got passed over for promotion and he destroyed a president. How much of that coup was made up of outright lies? Yeah there was some hinky stuff, but Nixon didn't know beforehand, only after. The source Woodstein used was all based on petty revenge for his own ego. Woodstein set a precedent that should never ever have been allowed. We do not have a credible journalism profession, we have egos, manipulators and agitprop artists. At least with the internet, Woodstein can't get away with their lies, not for long anyway.

As the latest Democratic assassination effort—the bunk about President Trump disparaging American war dead on the centenary of the end of World War I—fades into ignominy with its propagator, the egregious Jeffrey Goldberg, acknowledging that anonymous denunciators are insufficiently convincing, we may dare to hope that in the last seven weeks of this tumultuous campaign, some serious, legitimate questions will be addressed. One of them is that, like all incumbents, President Trump is seeking reelection on the basis of his record in office. The demonic efforts of the Democrats (and particularly of the rabidly Democratic national political media) who are conducting their party’s campaign in the masked and highly
