The Houston Texans remained in the locker room during the Star-Spangled Banner and the reigning-champion Chiefs lined up for a singing of 'the black national anthem' on Thursday night as the NFL opened its season in Kansas City under dramatically different circumstances than any other campaign in league history. Not only was the limited crowd of 17,000 fans asked to follow social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic, but spectators were also prohibited from wearing Native American headdresses and war paint as the NFL attempts to combat racial injustice following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.

I agree with one of the comments to the article. Was there a football game?

Agreed, was their a football game. I will watch when we have equality. 17 of every 100 players should be black. Roughly 78 of every 100 should be white. No special treatment for any one ethnicity. Any "black lives matters" deserves, "Asian lives matters, Native lives matters, Eskimo lives matter, Jewish lives matters, caucasian lives matters." Etc.

I watched until I couldn't stand it any longer. Being preached to about oppression and "getting along" by a bunch of people who are clearly not oppressed (especially when they got to the part comparing some of the QB and other contract amounts). I'm all for equality, just not forced, false BLM narratives crammed down peoples throats. This is more corrosive to society and race relations than what the pampered athletes claim to be drawing attention to.

I will not watch another NFL game until they shut down the league and they are playing the series finale. I will watch that game and revel in their demise, if it comes in my lifetime. Until then, I am quite content to NOT watch.

If the players are all in for equality, then shouldn't they demand that each of them should be paid the same? Didn't think so...

That's 17,000 too many. They are paid to play with a ball. More money than they have ever seen before.
This is extortion.

This was like reading a Twilight Zone script. I am thoroughly ashamed that 17K Americans would participate in this disgraceful insult to our country. I think we are going to have some white players take an early retirement. I do not see how any decent fellow would want any part of this now thoroughly BLM league.

They won't really get the message until they lose their cable TV income. Anybody with a cable sports package needs to cancel it *now*. Go play catch with your kids instead.

The NFL and the NBA have become political arms of the Democratic Party. In fact, legally they are now Super PACs. As a PAC (Political Action Committee), they are required to register as such. If they don't immediately register, then Attorney General Bill Barr needs to prosecute these PACs. Here in Ohio, the state attorney general needs to prosecute the Browns and the Bengals.
And how could these traitors disrespect the U.S. flag on the day before the 9/11 anniversary? And think about this -- it's just a matter of time before NFL players start burning the U.S. flag on the field -- right on top of the flashy NFL logo.

Pro football and basket ball players forget that the majority of their team's income come from WHITE people and WHITE owned business.

I only follow the NFL for fantasy sports reasons, and I can do that without ever watching a game or a highlight. That said, I hope the NFL and NBA both fold.

What you heard tonight from the KC crowd was BLM Fatigue, and it’s been building all summer. Finally pro sports fans had an outlet for it (pro basketball and baseball does not allow fan attendance) and wanted the teams to hear their displeasure.
When BLM hitched its wagon to antifa, it quickly lost any credibility and support from Middle America. And the politicians, corporations, media and sports teams that support them are now joined at the hip, as well. A tar baby, if you will.
BTW, someone needs to remind these crybaby pro athletes that there was a time not so long ago that the players had to have off-season jobs because they couldn’t live off their sports salaries. Be a shame if things went back that way.

I tried tuning in for a minute or two and I noticed that commercials were running endlessly. I am just not into players kneeling for the NA and certainly don't support an organization that honors and supports an admitted Marxist organization that says they are participating in the revolution to overthrow the US Government. Buh-bye NFL. EF all y'all. I am not interested in watching anarchist protests calling itself a professional sports game.

They should have done this to an empty stadium. If they won't pay respect to the country that has given them this priviledged life of money for tossing a ball around, why should the public grace them with the honor of their presence? I didn't think I could hate sports moguls and thuggish ball players any more...and yet here we are. All of them are sorry dumb***es.

Rumor has it that those 17,000 fans were required to kiss the feet of all NFL players present who support BLM ... it's part of "reparations" you know. The 17,000 were happy to do that just to see a football game since, they've got no clue about much of anything.

The participants, spectators, and sports media/SJW commentators are all democrats, deserving of our scorn and derision. Any real Texan would like to strip their namesake from the Houston BLMFL franchise by force than to watch them play the once great sport that they're in the process of killing.

So absurd. Only highly-paid management types could come up with this kind of response. Re: commercials. Ditched cable 15 years ago, and the few times I have seen TV, I ask myself, "How did I waste so many minutes of my life sitting through commercials for products I will never buy?"

We played fantasy football for over a decade with our family. We would go to the Lions game on Thanksgiving instead of being with extended family. Our favorite TV channel was NFL RedZone. When we were kids, my dad used to put a black and white TV on top of the color TV console so we could watch 2 games at once. Now I will not watch the NFL again. Thanks Goodell for destroying a tradition that has been in our family for decades.

These people who keep watching the game can't seem to draw the line and commit to righteous and ethical behavior. These professional athletes supporting BLM, ANTIFA, and memorializing all the criminals shot by the police officers are morally bankrupt. And those fans who still support and watch the game to feel good are no different from those corrupt athletes. You're either for the group of terminal morons or with America. Can't have it both ways.

I'm going on my fifth season of not watching the NFL. To keep my vulgarities down I couldn't have watch that game that I understand started the season last night. I didn't know until now (reading the article) that the Chiefs were the Super Bowl champions. I didn't know who played in the Super Bowl last season or previous seasons.

While the NFL may well mollify their majority Black athletes, chances are by going political, and seemingly supporting in many people’s minds, the rioting, arson, and looting that has occurred in the big cities, the NFL are going to find out that they may loose up to half their paying fans, as most people support law and order, and when they go to watch sports contests, do that as a temporary distraction from the tough aspects of everyday life and not to participate in political protests.

Rush was all over this today. What other outcome did these teams expect? The token black media and talk show "personalities" are aghast that White People refuse to hate themselves for the deeds of their 200-year-old slave-owner ancestors. The NFL players can stop the theatrics and just play ball or they can kiss their careers and millions in income goodbye. Either way, I already said goodbye.
I have a suggestion to get around the attendance problem, advertise the game as both teams protesting each other, which will make full attendance the stadium legal. It's a gamble though because all of the empty seats and lost ticket sales will make their fan base look even thinner.

Imagine paying good money to see a football game, but have to endure an in-your-face paean to Marxism disguised as a We Hate White People rally. Shameful; see how woke they'd be running around in empty stadiums and with no one watching on TV.
