Border-wall critic Gretchen Whitmer builds

Controversial Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, once considered a frontrunner to become Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, has authorized construction of a large fence around the governor’s mansion in Lansing as part of a $1.1 million security upgrade. The 8-foot-tall electrified fence is especially galling to Whitmer critics because she has routinely criticized President Donald Trump’s construction of a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border as a way to help reduce illegal immigration and human trafficking. She has also questioned the effectiveness of security walls but is nevertheless billing taxpayers for the expensive upgrade that will include electrified fencing because, according to local media, Whitmer is fearful of threats.

Is it truly an "electrified fence" that will deliver an electric current to trespassers? Or is it an "electronic sensored fence," like at the White House, which will detect and alarm for trespassers? If this is truly an electrified fence, it would be the first surrounding any governor's mansion that I have heard of. Electrified fences are typically used only at high security areas and military installations. The MI taxpayers are entitled to demand an explanation.
