The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of La Crosse is responding to a video of one of its priests attacking Catholics who are Democrats. The video, posted to Youtube already has almost 400,000 views. A video by Father James Altman, the Priest at Saint James the Less Catholic Church here in La Crosse, is causing mixed reactions by those who have seen it.(Snip)Now the Diocese of La Crosse is weighing in, at one point supporting Father Altman’s attempt to bring attention to important issues.(Snip) On the other hand, clearly stating they are unhappy with his approach and some of his message.

Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday defended his Justice Department’s request to replace President Trump’s lawyers and defend him in a defamation suit brought by advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of rape.
On Tuesday evening, the DOJ filed a motion requesting to intervene in the case and said Trump was “acting within the scope of his office” when he last year accused Carroll of “totally lying” when she claimed Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman changing room in the mid-1990s.
While the move is very rare, Barr told NBC News that it is “not particularly unusual”

Donald Trump has unveiled a new campaign video paying tribute to the U.S. military, in what he insisted were his 'real words' - unlike, he has insisted, quotes disparaging the troops reported in the Atlantic. The new video, tweeted by the president on Wednesday evening, features a montage of scenes showing Trump thanking and commemorating military figures.Entitled 'Valor', the video scrolls through clips of Trump paying his respects at a military ceremony and presenting medals to elderly veterans. Active duty troops are filmed in soft-focus, while families embrace their military relative. All is accompanied by a stirring soundtrack, and Trump's words praising the armed forces.

It is a little thing. But even little things can be off-putting.CNN this week aired an altered family photo of Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. The original picture shows Hunter wearing a cap bearing the logo of the football team then known as the Washington Redskins. But the photo that appeared Monday on CNN shows no sign of the football team’s Native American-based log. The Biden campaign is responsible for the edits. It maintains it airbrushed the photo for copyright purposes.“We removed the image because it is copyrighted, as is a very common practice on campaigns,” an aide said Wednesday.

Los Angeles pulled a Halloween switcheroo on Wednesday — first banning, and then quickly unbanning, trick-or-treating.
Less than a day after saying the door-to-door candy grab is banned due to coronavirus concerns, county officials changed course and said the popular children’s tradition is now just “not recommended.”
The revision came after parents and businesses “went apoplectic with outrage,” Deadline reported, citing a press briefing by LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer.
Also not recommended — but no longer outright banned — are LA’s popular “trunk-or-treat” events, in which costumed kids go car to car instead of door to door.
According to the newly-updated county guidelines:

A justice of the Michigan Supreme Court raised pointed and repeated questions Wednesday about whether the 1945 emergency law relied on by Gov. Justice David Viviano pressed the issue during oral arguments, pointing out that the Emergency Powers of Governor Act was enacted in the wake of Detroit's 1943 race riot, as it is known, and was referenced in news reports at the time as providing the governor with the police powers needed to respond to such events without having to declare martial law.

LASD told FOX 11 they gave the crowd an order to disperse when the crowd began “gearing up” and was standing in the street at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Normandie Avenue. When the order was ignored, LASD began using crowd control munitions to push the crowd down Normandie, and many of them fled into nearby neighborhoods.

In case anyone still thinks it is, the COVID-19 pandemic is not a hoax. How and why it originated may never be known for certain. How societies ought to respond to it, and who are most vulnerable to the disease, are both topics of intense debate. But deaths in America from all causes are up year-to-date by over 200,000 compared to recent years, and while we may hope the worst is behind us, this is not over.
The single most authoritative source for statistics on deaths in the United States is the CDC website, and a way to eliminate any doubt about the cause of death

The characters in the play are all familiar names: George Soros; Bill and Melinda Gates; traitorous NeverTrumps like John Kasich, Bill Kristol, and Michael Steele; and the Clinton Cabal, including John Podesta and Donna Brazile. The list is defined by those who lost the most when Trump won. And don't forget which country lost the most — China

COVID is not the first viral flu pandemic America has faced, yet the reaction is unprecedented. The entire economy has been shut down for months, some sectors still closed. Elective yet necessary medical care has been postponed leading to excess sickness and death well beyond that caused by the Chinese virus.
Many schools remain closed, as do restaurants, hair salons, and churches. We are forced to keep six feet away from each other at all times and are expected to wear masks, whether outside and alone or inside sharing an intimate moment with a loved one.

An American Civil Liberties Union official in Kentucky chastised Transylvania University over the weekend for accepting Nicholas Sandmann as a student, calling the move a “stain” on the institution.Sandmann made headlines back in January 2019 when a Native American activist stood in front of the teen and began chanting in his face during a pro-life rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Sandmann, who was wearing a MAGA hat at the time and is a supporter of President Trump, held his ground and smiled at the man as he continued to talk in his face.“Does anyone else think it’s a bit of a stain on Transylvania University

Perhaps the Hill just needs to hire “more experienced” interns? Following President Donald Trump’s rally in North Carolina this Tuesday, The Hill published a story titled, “Trump, supporters gather without masks in NC despite request from local GOP official.” For the story’s featured image, The Hill used a photo of the president standing before a crowd of cheering supporters. Look closely at the image below: (Tweet) Notice anything odd? As noted by the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. in the tweet below, everybody standing behind his father was wearing a mask. Look:

While the media focus on the chaos in American cities and the COVID-19 shutdowns, you might have missed this good news on the energy front: The federal government just approved a new, smaller, safer nuclear power plant design, putting nuclear back on the nation’s menu of energy choices.
It might not seem like much, but until this decade, the last nuclear power plant built in the U.S. was 1977. Today, there are an estimated 96 nuclear power plants producing 20% of all our electricity and half of our non-carbon-based power.
If that sounds impressive, consider this: As recently as the

Joe Biden would be 78 years old by Inauguration Day in January, seven years beyond the average lifespan of a male born in 1942. He had two brain aneurysms in the 1980s. In his 17-month journey to the Oval Office, the Democratic nominee has made scores of claims and dozens of promises. [Snip] Like Hillary Clinton four years ago, Biden has not made himself available for much media questioning. So, Biden’s news conference last week was a rare opportunity for diligent reporters to probe the plans, thoughts and ideas of the man who would be the oldest ever to assume the nation’s highest office.

Just weeks after helping to broker peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Trump has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
The nomination submitted by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament, lauded Trump for his efforts toward resolving protracted conflicts worldwide.
“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde, a four-term member of Parliament who also serves as chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told Fox News in an exclusive interview.

Reporter Lara Logan made an important point Tuesday morning on Fox & Friends First, saying it’s long past time to expose the “powerful political entities” behind antifa and other violent-protest activists.
The establishment media have largely ignored the radical, communist, and even domestic terrorist roots of antifa, Black Lives Matter, and some of the other violent protesters. While the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy has done yeoman’s work in reporting on the Leninist-terrorist roots of BLM’s lead organizers, the nation’s big dailies have mentioned only in passing the movement’s backgrounds and financing.
This lack of attention to, much less angst and anger about, protests causing hundreds of millions of dollars of property damage

Washington-
As the editor of a magazine that back in 1993 struck the first major blow in destroying the reputation of a president, I think I should have something to say about blackening the reputation of Donald Trump. After all, back in the early 1990s Bill Clinton was apparently widely esteemed as the Virgin President candidate. Today he is hiding under his bed in Chappaqua, fearing what might be revealed when the next batch of documents are revealed in the Jeffrey Epstein–Ghislaine Maxwell scandal.
In The American Spectator’s two Troopergate articles of the early 1990s, we established that Bill Clinton preyed upon women flagrantly. Those pieces were the most devastating

DENVER — A burst of wild September weather brought a “climate crisis” warning Tuesday from Al Gore as Californians struggled with heat and wildfires, Atlantic storm trackers raced through the alphabet and Coloradans traded their flip-flops for snow boots.
California firefighters fought to contain 23 active fires that charred a record 2.3 million acres as the state headed into the peak of its fire season fueled by a heat wave. On Sunday, the Los Angeles County town of Woodland Hills set a record at 121 degrees.
“It reached a record high of 121 degrees F in LA county over the weekend,” Mr. Gore tweeted Tuesday.

There were rolling blackouts in California last month on two consecutive days. The reason for the blackouts wasn’t a mystery. There was a heatwave across the region and as the sun went down and California’s solar generation started to fade, the California Independent System Operator (Cal ISO) simply couldn’t find enough power from other sources to meet the demand. The blackouts were ordered to prevent the entire grid from entering a brownout. Several outlets including NPR and the Wall Street Journal made the point that California’s push for green energy was partly responsible for the situation.

I am so sick of it. I am so sick of it. I just want to shout to the sky at every sleazeball, cretin, and liar in the Fake News Media: “Keep your dirty keyboard paws off my president.” They type lies and innuendos, print and publish calumny and slander, day after day. They have it figured out that no president of the United States will sue for libel or slander, so they are safe to type one lie after another, day in and day out, to market in defamation and to trade in character assassination. As we know from those among them who already have been exposed,

Are Joe Biden and Kamala Harris trying to prolong the pandemic? That might be the result of their reckless efforts to erode confidence in a vaccine — even as they blame President Trump for doing that.
“I would want to see what the scientists said” about any vaccine, Biden huffed Monday. “I want full transparency.” That is: Don’t trust a vaccine OK’d by Team Trump.
Harris was even more blunt: She’d “trust the word of public-health experts” but not the president — and insisted those experts won’t have the final say:

Jeffrey Goldberg’s claim that President Trump disparaged American soldiers who died in Normandy is collapsing. As we have noted, John Bolton, no friend of Trump, was present when the president allegedly made the comment. Bolton says it didn’t happen.
Similarly, former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Zach Fuentes, who was also in the room, denies that Trump made the remarks attributed to him. He says:
I did not hear POTUS call anyone losers when I told him about the weather [in France]. Honestly, do you think General Kelly would have stood by and let anyone call fallen Marines losers?

The new movie, "Fatima," retells the story of three children from the village of Fatima in Portugal. In 1917 these children said they witnessed a visitation from the Virgin Mary.
Since that experience was recounted the story of 9-year-old Lucia and her two younger cousins, Francisco, 7, and Jacinta, 6, has been the subject of intense investigations by the Catholic Church, faith-driven historians and curious skeptics.

When we first learned that Kenosha resident Jacob Blake was offering his first interviews and sending out video messages from the hospital after being shot by the police in Kenosha, I noted a somewhat fawning tone to the media coverage he was getting. This left me wondering about the other people involved in his story, particularly the alleged victims of his past criminal behavior.(Snip for tweet) Judging by the thousands of combined retweets and likes that message received, I didn’t seem to be the only one raising these nagging questions. None of these issues slowed down the rest of our major media outlets, however.

This year was scary enough.
Traditional Halloween activities won't be allowed for residents in Los Angeles County this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to local health officials.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced a ban on door-to-door trick-or-treating, carnivals, festivals, live entertainment and haunted houses.
"Door to door trick or treating is not allowed because it can be very difficult to maintain proper social distancing on porches and at front doors especially in neighborhoods that are popular with trick or treaters," officials said in a news release detailing guidelines for the annual tradition.

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said President Trump was "wrong" to claim that U.S. military generals want to be at war to help bomb manufacturers make money.
Romney, a Republican, told CNN that he was disappointed in Trump's remarks about the top generals at the Pentagon. He said it was "offensive" for Trump to suggest that generals are trying to keep wars alive to make defense suppliers happy.

An endorsement from President Trump – it’s the most coveted prize nowadays in Republican primary politics.
And on Tuesday, the potency of a Trump endorsement in a contested GOP race was on display once again as two candidates backed by the president won their primary battles in New Hampshire, which was holding federal and state primary contests. Republican Senate candidate Bryant ‘Corky’ Messner edged out retired Army Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc in the GOP Senate primary, thanks in part to support from the president. And Matt Mowers, another Trump backed candidate, crushed his rivals in the Republican House primary in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District.

Alek is running against Rep. Peter DeFazio who has held the seat since January 1987 before Alek was born.

In matters of race and other social phenomena, there is a tendency to believe that what is seen today has always been. For black people, the socioeconomic progress achieved during my lifetime, which started in 1936, exceeded anyone's wildest dreams. In 1936, most black people lived in gross material poverty and racial discrimination. Such poverty and discrimination is all but nonexistent today. Government data, assembled by Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation, shows that "the average American family ... identified as poor by the Census Bureau, lives in an air-conditioned, centrally heated house or apartment ... They have a car or truck.

New Jersey’s Department of Transportation has come under fire for ordering the removal of flags hung on overpasses in memory of lives lost on 9/11. Days before the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on The U.S., flags that have been hung on New Jersey highway overpasses for years were reportedly ordered to be taken down by the state’s turnpike authority because they were deemed a “distraction.”(Video) “There’s never been an issue before the last 20 years. President Donald Trump on Tuesday continued campaigning against the violent radical left rioters in America’s major cities, describing them as “domestic terrorists.”
“Biden’s plan is to appease the domestic terrorists. My plan is to arrest them,” Trump said as the crowd cheered.Trump accused former Vice President Joe Biden of ignoring the violence, looting, and arson conducted by Black Lives Matter supporters and Antifa throughout the summer.“Joe Biden and his party spent the entire summer cheering on the rioters rampaging through Democrat-led cities, falsely labeling them as peaceful protesters,” Trump said. Trump said that the leaders of Democrat-led cities faced a skyrocketing rise in crime as the riots continued.
