Millions of acres of California forest have been blackened by wildfires this summer, leading to the usual angry denunciations from the usual quarters about climate change. But in 1999, the Associated Press reported that forestry experts had long agreed that “clearing undergrowth would save trees,” and that “years of aggressive firefighting have allowed brush to flourish that would have been cleared away by wildfires.” But very little was done. And now fires of unprecedented size are raging across the Western United States.(Snip)Year after year, environmentalists litigated and lobbied to stop efforts to clear the forests through timber harvesting, underbrush removal, and controlled burns.

The headline is true.
OP, and thanks to the eco-nuts (marxists) getting their pet judges to prevent logging of the trees that were being killed by the beetle.

A farmer is denied water because of the endangered species act. Trump is trying to resolve this issue but every thing he does ends up before a liberal judge.

Meanwhile I am in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and am under a heavy pall of smoke.
Took a walk this AM, came home, black snot. Finally, a reason for a mask.
And, I have to laugh, Northern California is even worse.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The biggest enemy of the environment is environmentalists!

If you don't clear a forest, eventually you have an impassable thicket. The environmentalists are activists that have never been outside.

Environmentalists Destroyed California’s Forests
This is NOT a headline from The Onion or Babylon Bee. Decades of tried and true forest conservation techniques were changed to suit a FAD, by idiots whose 'feelings' were more important than actual facts.

Interesting how we see some version of this article every year in late summer but the idiots in Kalifornia still won’t make any changes to their “green” policies.

Mismanagement by redirection of Fed funds, thanks to Moonbeam and his bullet train and cronies, the environmental wackos who stop any attempts to clean out the underbrush that fuels these fires, and stopping PG&E from maintaining their power towers and all to prevent fires. It is absolute nonsense that the greenies want to live just like the Native American tribes did, with the untouched wilderness. A college class taught by an archaeologist about 30 years ago proved that the NA cleaned out all that underbrush by setting controlled fires to get rid of the hiding places for their venison. It is only the slovenly wackos who want to live like pigs both in environment and mentally who believe in letting things go.

I've been pointing this out for DECADES.
The horse left the barn before the door was closed and died of old age before anyone noticed.

Envirowhackos have done to our forests what Demowhackocrats have done to our state. Wake up my fellow Californians and quit voting for Democrats!!!! They are destroying our state, taking away our freedoms and liberties, and implementing policies that are against all of you and your family's best interests!!! Wake up and smell the higher and higher taxes, smoke and destruction all around you! Had enough yet? Vote for Biden and if you think it's bad now and getting worse...you ain't seen nothing yet.

How many environmental activists live in big cities? These Urban Environmentalists are dangerous, as seen by current events in the west.

Yea, I know the pine bark beetle...just lost a 20 year old pine to them...got onto the local Purdue ecoguy and he identified the problem and gave me a solution...unfortunately the solution is a concentrate that runs $20.00 a 32 oz bottle, you mix one oz per inch of tree diameter into a gallon of water and pour it into the ground around the tree...and you need to treat the trees around where the one died..so far it's been about $160 and I've only done 1/2 the trees in the area...
And as far as the wildfires go, the real experts have been trying to change the ecoweenies rules for years...no success, and this is the result...multiple fires (100 at last count) millions of dollars spent, and more millions lost...because of the fooking tree huggers...

For the last four days we've had a 1,000-acre fire 8 miles to our southwest. Tuesday and Wednesday we had midnight darkness from noon to 5pm. Today we are in the yellow spectrum of light, but still experiencing ash fall. It looks like we got a dusting of snow. Cannot venture outside without a mask. We only go out to give the dog a tinkle opportunity. The good news is that the winds have stayed calm. This is the fourth day with no wind, very unusual. Thank God for a great blessing. Our "Oak Fire" is contained and they've released the bulldozer crews and most of the hand crews. Hwy 101 southbound to town has reopened today.
However, 30 miles east of us is the huge August Fire in the Mendocino National Forest that has burned north and hooked up with another fire, the Hopkins. The main part of the Hopkins fire began burning west, hooked up to another one and is called the Elkhorn Fire. An evacuation warning now extends west to Hwy 101 through Humboldt County. The southern end of that is about 60 miles north of us. Needless to say, TK is monitoring CDF radio. We are still in an evacuation warning and in phase 2 of TK's 3-phase plan.
I believe the stubborn refusal to implement reasonable and sane forest management practices is part of the Marxist Agenda 21 goals to drive rural people into the cities. I had thought the Paradise Fire tragedy would have shamed them into sanity, but it wasn't enough. I also doubt the current wholesale destruction of our state will be enough because ITS BEEN THE PLAN ALL ALONG! (Yes, I'm shouting and with no apologies.)
Please President Trump wave your magic wand over California. Come here and fight for us. Make us a horrible warning to the rest of the nation. Use us as the poster child of Democrat one-party rule. Show the nation the ugliness of "Progressive" socialism, the lack of concern for people and their precious environment. Expose all the lies. Expose their evil hearts set only on power for power's sake.
MAGA: Its for all 50 states or it ain't worth a damn.

Many years ago my Uncle owned a large cattle ranch in Modoc County and we would visit sometimes in the summer. He would always talk about the lack of "cleaning of the forest land" He constantly said the whole state would one day be on fire. He passed away many yrs ago and I have to admit, at the time, I really didn't pay much attention, but he was right. I grew up in Marin County and in the 50's and 60's it was like living in the country and they voted Republican! I still remember we had controlled burns and all the hillsides along the highway had cows grazing. That all ended by the early 80's and now where the cows used to graze the hills are thick forests that never existed before. And this has happened all over this huge state and we are now paying for the poor forest management. I can't just blame Dems for this, I blame Republican governors too. Pete Wilson and Deukmejian should have stood up to the Sierra Club et al. but they didn't. Arnold governed like a Dem. But now we have had one party rule for too long and it needs to end. I agree with you #14 I wish Trump would make an example of the western states and the poor management that has led to more problems than you can imagine.

The state would rather give money to illegals than clean up the out of control forest floors.
The trash is so high that it kills everything when the fires get set.
Some want calif to look like the moon.

Does anyone think that close to 30 wildfires just “happened” without help from those burning cities down? C’mon! These fires were set by men!
