Two Delaware women accused of accosting a 7-year-old boy outside of the Democratic National Convention and taking his MAGA hat are facing up to 15 years in prison for a hate crime.(Snip for tweet)Yes, it was “shameful.” It was also mean, stupid, small-minded, and wrong. But do the women really deserve to spend 15 years in prison for it? Fox News: “Violence in any form is unacceptable, but harming another person — let alone a child — because of the expression of their views betrays the principles on which our country was founded,” Jennings said in a statement to Fox News.

What a stupid position for Moran to take. Maybe the punishment doesn't exactly fit the crime, but when it comes to things like this there should be zero tolerance. Plus, making an example of the 2 fools may deter others. This type of behavior is out of control and people think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Time to put the brakes on this this behavior.

Charge em. If it is against state or Federal law, charge em. I am not suggesting they do 15 years for this incident. But they need to spend some time in adult "time-out" (i.e., jail) for what they did. Make it a few months. And then require they perform community service for the NRA. NRA members will show them what good manners look like. Whatever sentence they get, don't let em off the hook. This is supposed to be a CIVIL society. Stealing a child's hat is not civil.

Punishment MUST fit the crime else it is not justice but overwrought vengeance. We have to be better than that. But this is exactly the problem I have with 'Hate Crime' offenses and sentences. Is murder as a 'hate crime' really worse than murder as a 1st degree felony 'love' crime? No!

if that is what the sentence is, then, there is no altering of the sentence, especially under the circumstances. it's bad enough to harm your own child but to harm someone else's is certainly worth punishment to the full extent of the law. the jury still has to decide, though.

If Moran wants to discuss disproportionate hate crime sentences, discuss the topic on its merits rather than a gutless unwillingness to force a pair of entitled woke white women to face the consequences of their behavior. There is a reason why one of the opening scenes in "Scary Movie" has the white female protagonist sending the police a message, 'White woman in trouble', which resulted in the entire police force racing to protect her. Moran is doing the same thing for these perps.

"Punishing someone for what they believe — even if they’re wrong-headed, hateful, irrational, and illogical — is excessive." Trump was FRAMED, with no evidence, for Russia-Gate and impeachment. All of this rioting is aimed at Trump (Biden moronically says that the rioting is Trump's fault). So Trump's BELIEFS, which MANY, MANY Americans support, must be punished via his enemies, to a scandalous and ILLEGAL extent ... REALLY? Picking on a child just elucidates the extent of these womens' HATE ,,, and they acted out their hate on a fairly defenseless victim (JUST LIKE AntiFa does).

Methinks the “brewery” sign in the background could have something to do with this incident. How Delaware usually punishes assault and battery, destruction of property, theft and assault involving a child is the guide to punishment. Punishment for thought crimes are against the spirit of America’s founding and are among the fascistic impulse that Conservatives eschew. 1.)To thine own self be true 2.) Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

What makes Moron think these women will get 15 years? That would be the MAXIMUM sentence, which is rarely applied to almost any crime. They are guilty of assaulting a 7 year old. Is he saying they shouldn't be punished? And believe me, it was a hate crime. As Baretta used to say, "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime!"

I disagree with any charge based on 'hate crimes' as it isn't well defined, so determination is based on the prosecutor's whims. If someone mugs me I want him sent to jail for the mugging - I don't care if he said he likes me or not.

Moran writes this as if they had already been tried and sentenced! There is nothing wrong with charging them with the full extent of what the law allows, if for no other reason than to scare them silly. They certainly deserve that at least.( Presuming of course, that they have the sense to be worried.) As others have said already, the chances of their getting the full 15 are very slim. They may even get off with a slap on the wrist, so a good scare may be their only punishment. I'd like to think they'd also receive a big legal bill, but these two look like public defender types.

There was an element of hate involved. It wasn't simple assault or A&B, or theft, or trespass. They used force to make the kid to comply with their beliefs and wants. They attacked the kid because they hate anyone who disagrees with them. They terrorized the kid. They deserve the full 15. Probably won't happen but the deserve it. A few months county time, work release, out on weekends. When they come out they street creds, bragging rights. They took one for the cause. They will dine out on that for months. This was hate, pure hate and it was directed at a kid.

Yes they deserve the 15 year sentence. But trust me, they'll never stay in prison for 15 years. Convicts never serve more than 40% of this sentence. Then, there's always "let out early for good behavior". There is absolutely no truth whatsoever for sentencing. Life in prison isn't life in prison either. Thugs and felons are coddled and of course demonrats love all their thugs and felons.

The full 15, because someone has to show the moron voters how this works. The rats can frame, harass, and punish whoever they want, when they want to do it. Sentence these two and when the left whines, point to Hillary skating on multiple felonies, biden taking laundered money and forcing the Ukraine justice system to let him do it, Flynn, altered evidence by the FBI, withholding evidence by Schiff, attacks by known leftists that are dismissed or never prosecuted, illegal voting, illegal destruction of Republican ballots, the totally vindictive prosecution of a triple amputee veteran in FLA by NY thugs, etc. You want to talk about abuse of the law and the justice system? Let's talk. BTW, what is the 'appropriate' sentencing for encouraging illegal voting, suspension of elections and encouraging terrorists to take over Portland? How many years does a 'resistance' protestor deserve for blinding a policeman? Is 15 years in prison too harsh for destroying a statue or defacing the Lincoln Memorial? The left has no problem urging people to DOX and attack anyone, but we need to slap wrists for two belligerent women who threaten, slap and punch people they don't like. It was more than taking a hat.

This is so stupid. There hasn't been any trial yet. Many details have yet to be revealed. Who cares if the ultimate penalty is 15 years? The judge will never sentence them to 15 years! The judge will sentence them to something like four years. Then they'll get out early on parole and wind up having served actual time of some 20 months. But here, Moran is trying to have certain charges dismissed in advance of a hearing.

Former President Bill Clinton made a significant change to federal land management nearly 30 years ago that created the conditions necessary for massive wildfires to consume portions of the West Coast, according to one fire expert who predicted the problem years ago. Shortly before leaving office in 2001, Clinton limited the ability of the United States Forest Service to thin out a dense thicket of foliage and downed trees on federal land to bring the West into a pristine state, Bob Zybach, an experienced forester with a PhD in environmental science, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. The former president’s decision created a ticking time bomb, Zybach argues.

A Massachusetts town clerk has resigned after officials in the 4th Congressional District community lost track of thousands of ballots in the primary earlier this month. Franklin Town Clerk Teresa Burr on Friday stepped down to “re-establish confidence with the voters of this community in their elections,” she wrote in her resignation letter. Two days after the Sept. 1 primary, thousands of uncounted ballots surfaced in Franklin as the 4th Congressional District remained too close to call. (Snip). Poll workers ended up counting the 3,000 ballots late into the night two days after the primary. Jake Auchincloss eventually won the Democratic primary.
