Conservatives were outraged eight years ago when Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the liberals on the court to uphold Obamacare's individual mandate. His swing almost singlehandedly saved the Affordable Care Act. A few years removed and he made a few better decisions, somewhat appeasing conservatives. But last year he helped kill the census citizenship question. Then, last week, he voted with liberals to reject President Trump's attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The court didn't say that Trump couldn't reverse the program, but that his legal reasoning wasn't up to par.

A Chicago man is accused of killing two teenagers at a convenience store this month after they asked how tall he was, authorities said on Thursday. Laroy Battle, 19, reportedly opened fire on Jasean Francis, 17, and Charles Riley, 16, in a back ally around 5 p.m. on June 20 after they and a friend walked home from buying candy at the store -- following a brief encounter with the suspect. "The victims commented, because, since Battle is quite tall, and they asked him how tall he was and you know, hoped to be that tall someday," Deputy Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan told Chicago's WLS-TV.

A Louisiana man was busted after going for a swim through a gigantic fish tank at an outdoor recreation store, authorities said.
Kevin Wise, 26, was charged with simple criminal damage to property for his surreptitious dip Thursday at a Bass Pro Shops in Bossier City, news station KTAL-TV reported.
Video showed a fully clothed Wise swimming with the fish in the indoor aquarium, climbing out and making a soggy run for it out of the store.
“This is interesting,” said another customer, Treasure McGraw, who filmed the bizarre incident posted to social media.

That, according to the former federal prosecutor, is partly why federal agents “set up” Flynn.

The recent wave of violence sweeping the nation is reminiscent of the 1970s and ’80s when the Weather Underground, Black Liberation Army, and Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN) engaged in violence, killing about two-dozen and injuring hundreds. Americans were reminded of the carnage two decades later when Bill Clinton dished out pardons and commutations at the end of his presidency.
The 42nd president’s 1999 commutation of the sentences of a dozen Puerto Rican FALN terrorists was a total surprise. Bill Clinton reviewed 3,229 clemency petitions requesting commutations since taking office until August 1999. He only approved three.

It seems clear now that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is going to ban President Donald Trump. It’s just a matter of when.
Dorsey will come up with a pretext, however absurd or cynical, as part of Twitter’s ongoing efforts to interfere in the 2020 election. It will probably consist of a charge that Trump has had one too many violations of some entirely subjective and impossible-to-define Twitter policy on abusive or harmful speech.
We got another preview of what that might look like this week when Twitter once again appended a warning label to a Trump tweet that apparently violated Twitter’s policy against “abusive behavior.” What did Trump say that was abusive?

The publication of a set of notes taken by now-disgraced former FBI agent, Peter Strzok related to the prosecution of former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn provides the first specific evidence that former president Obama was behind the wrongful prosecution of Flynn and, almost certainly, the investigation of Donald Trump’s campaign and presidential transition.
Strzok took the notes at a January 5, 2017 White House meeting at which he, Obama, Joe Biden, then-deputy attorney general Sally Yates, then-FBI director James Comey and Susan Rice, Obama’s national security adviser, all were present. (Snip) Obama directs the investigation of Flynn to proceed.
This month’s protests started out as a black movement against police brutality, but they have a different look now. In many cases, whites have taken over. They apologize for their “white privilege” and, in at least one case, wash black people’s feet to expiate their collective sins.
Celebrities, athletes and corporate America followed suit. Portland’s police chief resigned, asking to be replaced by a black man, and the CEO of Chick-Fil-A urged whites to shine the shoes of black people to show a “sense of shame.” But why now?

Reporter Liz Navratil explained that a majority of the Minneapolis City Council and like-minded community activists have used terms such as "defund," "dismantle" and "abolish" in different ways.
Seattle residents said Sunday that despite rumors that the city was going to reclaim the “occupied” area known as CHOP, little has changed on the ground and the “security” at the protest zone has actually gotten more “contentious” with residents who live nearby.
“They won’t let people in the neighborhood sometimes at night,” Matthew Ploszaj, who lives there, told KOMO News. He told the station that he supports the Black Lives Matter movement, but said it is a “terrible precedent” that “any political message can come in and occupy a neighborhood.”

A married couple brandished firearms at a group of protesters who marched through their upscale St. Louis neighborhood on Sunday night on their way to the home of Mayor Lyda Krewson. The male homeowner stood barefoot on his Renaissance-style porch in the Central West End neighborhood while carrying a semi-automatic weapon at around 6 p.m. local time, while his wife pointed a pistol at the gathering. The couple confronted the group of about 300 protesters after they breached a gate in the neighborhood, according to a local NBC affiliate.

Three events last week showed that Democrats do not want a mere transfer of power if they win the November election: they intend to revolutionize our entire system of government.
The first happened Wednesday, when Democrats blocked the Senate from considering a bill on police reform by Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
Scott, who is African American, has been working on the issue for years. He had the full support of the rest of the Republican caucus. He also agreed to consider whatever amendments Democrats offered.
They still used the filibuster to block the bill from even being debated.
The episode showed that Democrats do not actually care about police reform.
At least 20 people were shot, seven fatally, during a 24-hour timeframe this weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.
NBC Chicago reports the first non-fatal shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Friday, when a 31-year-old was shot and wounded while riding in a vehicle “in the 10300 block of South Halsted.” The man was transported to the hospital in good condition.
Just under 24 hours later, at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, a 28-year-old man was found on South Phillips with “a gunshot wound to the chest, the neck and the right arm.” The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
