A married couple brandished firearms at a group of protesters who marched through their upscale St. Louis neighborhood on Sunday night on their way to the home of Mayor Lyda Krewson. The male homeowner stood barefoot on his Renaissance-style porch in the Central West End neighborhood while carrying a semi-automatic weapon at around 6 p.m. local time, while his wife pointed a pistol at the gathering. The couple confronted the group of about 300 protesters after they breached a gate in the neighborhood, according to a local NBC affiliate.

Good for them, I applaud their efforts.
But....
Good grief, please get that woman some firearms training! She is randomly waving that handgun all around, and holding it like it's a dead goldfish or video camera or something.
The guy knows how to safely keep the AR handy without threatening anyone, but the wife is just scary, clearly untrained or very badly trained, being unsafe with that gun. I'd like to get her on the range for an hour or two, and get her better able to handle that thing, and at least LOOK like she might know how to use it.

Here's how the Daily Mail covers this story: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8467075/St-Louis-couple-point-firearms-protesters-outside-home-marching-demand-mayors-resignation.html

I dont have a problem with it. A more low key would have maybe been better. Sit on the steps with rifle in hand, or maybe in lawn chairs. Looking insane is probably a bad idea. Glad the fuzz didnt bother them.
As a side note, any time one of those obnoxious, stupid phones is being held up to someones face, said phone should be a legitimate target. I am really starting to resent people trying to force a reaction and then filming that reaction with righteous indignation.

This is life under a democrat mayor/govenor or councilperson. You vote them in office then get use to it.

I seriously doubt that the armed homeowner is responsible for any liberal mayor or governor! I voted conservatively all my life and I still get a corrupt mayor and a San Francisco bred governor!

I scoped the Daily Mail (liberal no-2nd Amendment Brits), who characterizes the invasive grubby bunch as being “peaceful.” I wouldn’t call breaching a gate into a community of homeowners “peaceful.” They were “peaceful” to the homeowner only because of that AR-15!
(I don’t think wifey had bullets in her pretty handgun. I wouldn’t let my wife wave around a gun like that!)

#3. Looking insane isn't necessarily a bad idea. If someone thinks you are a little high strung, they may be less likely to mess with you for fear of being shot. If they think they can buffalo you, they will take advantage of the situation.

#3 and #7, isn't that how the "protesters" are getting what they want?

#8, who cares what the protesters want? After all, aren't they illegally in the neighborhood after breaching the gate? Aren't they threatening the residents just by being there? As for being called a group, I would more classify them as a mob! They aren't wearing masks because of the corona virus.

Looks like someone found a way to enforce socialist distancing on rioters, looters and arsons. Maybe others should do their civic duty and remind other rioters, looters and arsons the importance of socialist distancing. See, social distancing, i.e. staying off other people's property really does save lives!

Consider this one of the "first shots fired" by one of us, even though they didn't fire a shot. The mob won't harass us when they see we are armed and ready to use our arms. And note that the police didn't respond. That is their tacit approval because they know this must be done.

#1.
Correct, with finger on the trigger. She could have shot one of the "protesters"...accidentally. And that would have been tragic.

An estate that large needs private security. They have to sleep at night.

Further proof that this freak show isn’t going to play well outside the city limits.

As you can see, there are some massive, posh hold houses in the Central West End, the old southern border of (cue ominous music) North St. Louis. The CWE is an upscale entertainment/shopping/residence neighborhood with a long history of crime, kept in bay by the head-knocking SLPD.
As such, this personal injury lawyer couple should have the smarts and money to live more safely. I'll bet they fashion themselves as urban pioneers, bringing their specialness to that community. I have no dog in this fight.

So much is left out of this story that adds context. The couples home is on the National Historical Register, built in 1866. The road on which the "protesters" marched is a private road and was accessed, as mentioned, by the mob breaching the gate. The unruly mob then started crawling all over this couple's garden - prompting them to come out before their home was breached. The Castle Doctrine applies and the couple were well within their rights the moment that gate was breached. The law in MO is clear.

Re #16, thank you. Private roads are just that. Owned and maintained by those who own them. Owners sometimes dedicate them to the city but if they do not, they are private.
This would have been a scary episode. Unlike our resident gun experts, I believe that woman’s waving her gun around and obviously being very skittish was far more frightening than someone looking like a cool, trained marksman.
They could use a very large dog. One that doesn’t like strangers.

You have to convey that destroying property and riots might have serious consequences and is your life worth the display of civil disobedience? It's high time for people to display some ordinance to these bottle tossing, fire starting fools and let them know that statue don't shoot back but we do. I live by one thing only, "you can do anything you want but you can't do it here". I'll protect my life and property until the end.

It's an absolutely amazing story about this mansion. I can understand the owners (both lawyers, btw) would protect their baby with force. Read the story posted below of their restoration of a national jewel...

The woman with that little gun and her hands on her hips. I can't!
But that's some home the Clampetts have there. :)
