Insanity Rules: NBA to Allow Players to Replace

No, this is not a satire piece from The Onion or The Babylon Bee. That’s actually a legit headline, up there. Shocked? Me neither. The NBA has announced that when the league begins its shortened 2020 season in Orlando on July 30, players will have the option to replace their name on their jersey with a “social justice” statement. The league and the National Basketball Players Association had been in discussions to allow players to wear social justice messages on their jerseys, according to a report by ESPN on Saturday night.

I actually haven't watched a pro-bball game since Michael Jordan won another Championship with the Bulls. This new crap doesn't entice me at all to tune in again anytime soon!!

At the rate that the owners of NFL and NBA teams are bowing down to their majority Black employees, they should expect that their spectator audience will soon be all Black. Sportsthat are dominated by multi millionaire Black athletes should count their blessings not their grievances.

FTA: "...a number of players have been “concerned” about resuming a game for which they’re paid millions of dollars becoming a distraction from the business at a hand: the “social justice movement.” If they're that concerned, maybe they could just donate the millions of dollars they are paid for playing the game to less well compensated social justice warriors? Oh, never mind. Much easier to virtue signal in self-righteousness. The NBA is on its way to idiocy and irrelevance, along with the NFL, NASCAR, etc.

Kids have no idea what they missed. The camera work is maybe better. Certainly the video is better, but seeing Dr. J at work or watching the Celtics move the ball the length of the court without a dribble as a team, are things the shuffling feet players of today could not do. Also watching Wilt in the lane against Russell was a game within a game. Today's ball hogs are less interesting than pickup games at a park.

I can very easily see a group of sports that no longer make money from ticket sales or populist viewership, but from corporate payoffs to keep the Marxists from calling them racist. So, while they should whither up and die from lack of attention, they will continue as the cultural center of overpaid, dysfunctional minorities, and you will pay for it in every consumer good you buy.

#34 is spot on. Those three or four steps allowed have always been a peeve of mine. The refs used to call us for walking if we even so much as palmed the ball while dribbling. That and NBA games now taking 30 minutes to play the final 3. The last game I watched in person was the Hawks against the Celtics, Dominique Wilkins vs Larry Byrd. Someone gave me courtside tickets. Great game but that was the last. I haven't watched an NBA game since then. I didn't quit for political reasons. I just lost interest as the game degenerated. This move will just eliminate most of their remaining white audience.
